"Okay." Yun Mo had no objection to her arrangements; the things she prepared for each trip always proved useful.
"What should we do with those three bandits in the cell?" Pan Qingfeng asked.
Yun Mo composed himself. "I've already given the order: leave one person to lead the way, and kill the other two who refuse to cooperate. Keeping them around is a waste of food."
The group discussed some details to pay attention to until it was broad daylight before they dispersed.
Stepping out of the county government office, Chen Gu couldn't help but shiver as he was bathed in the warm sunshine. He raised his hand to shield his eyes from the glaring sun.
He heard footsteps behind him and turned around to see several guards carrying out two corpses. The stench of blood was so strong it made him want to vomit, so he quickly stepped aside.
Recalling the scene of Yun Mo interrogating the bandits, Chen Gu dared not linger and ran straight to his shop.
The servants were sweeping when they saw their young master rush in, breathless, and couldn't help but mutter to themselves.
The sun has risen in the west, and their young master actually got up early to go for a walk. Hmm, he'll have to report this to the head steward when he gets back.
Chen Gu ignored the servants' curious stares, returned to his room, and took out paper and pen to start writing a letter to his father.
He told his father everything he had seen and heard, and that Longtan was truly terrifyingly powerful.
Their speed of action was astonishing; they would start fighting at the drop of a hat, nipping all potential dangers in the bud. Watching them made him feel excited and eager to roll up his sleeves and join them in suppressing the bandits.
After writing the letter, he called a servant and asked him to personally deliver it back.
Then, after rummaging through several piles of goods, they picked out two large carts full of goods, had the servants load them up, and headed straight for the Yun family.
His father was right; he had to hold on tight to Longtan's powerful backing.
The news that Yunmo was going to send troops to suppress the bandits spread throughout Longtan during breakfast.
When people discussed the bandit suppression, they all cursed the bandits for being inhuman.
"Those damned bandits! The New Year is almost here, and they won't let anyone have a single day of peace."
"That's right, they came to cause trouble just as the harvest was about to be finished."
"Thanks to the Yun brothers, otherwise we would definitely not have been able to keep this grain."
"I heard that the bandits are extremely vicious. They even captured villagers to lead the way and take their blows for them."
"That's right, I saw that quite a few of the Yun family's young men were injured."
How serious is it?
"It's a superficial wound. Our village doctor, Dr. Lin, examined it and said it will take some time to heal."
"These damned bandits deserve to be struck dead by lightning."
The women spontaneously came to the canteen to help prepare dry rations, while the men went to gather hay for the horses.
Su Yun had heard people in the county town chatting and laughing the day before, but in just one day, everyone's mood became more excited than ever before, and everyone wished they could personally go into battle to wipe out the bandits.
It's a strange feeling; we're not from the same clan, yet we can unite and stand together against a common enemy.
Walking down the streets of the county town, people in a hurry were carrying or shouldering things toward the county government office, all preparing for those who were about to go to war.
He walked to the square in front of the county government office and saw from afar that Anan handed the bundle in her hand to Yunmo.
"There are telescopes and night vision goggles inside. I've already told you how to use them. Nineteen and I are waiting for your safe return."
To put his mind at ease, this was the first time Lin Yinan had spoken such emotional words to him.
Yun Mo tied the bundle to his back and looked at Lin Yinan with tender eyes.
"Okay, take good care of Nineteen at home and wait for me to come back."
He turned around, gracefully mounted his horse, and turned the horse's head to meet Su Yunzhi's gaze, who was standing outside.
Su Yunzhi nodded slightly, and Yun Mo waved to him as well.
A bugle call sounded outside the city. Yun Er, who was still reluctant to part with Yun Ying, suddenly hugged her tightly, ignoring everyone's gaze.
"Wait for me to come back!" he said, and then released her.
Yunying's heart was pounding, and her cheeks were so red they looked like they could bleed.
Yun Er slung the bow and arrows on his back, nimbly mounted the horse, and took one last reluctant look at Yun Ying.
"Let's go! Let's set off!"
Everyone followed behind the procession, seeing them off all the way to the city gate.
After the troops left the city, they had to rejoin the soldiers outside the city.
Su Yunzhi followed far behind the group when he suddenly saw a figure lightly leap onto the city wall, causing everyone to gasp in surprise.
He looked closely and realized that the person was none other than Lin Yinan!
The weather was rather cold today, and the wind made her clothes flutter. Lin Yinan seemed oblivious, her gaze fixed on the figure riding away on horseback.
"Third Sister-in-law, I'm a little worried!" Yunying stood on the wall and looked into the distance as well.
Lin Yinan looked down at her; the hardest thing for someone deeply in love is facing separation.
"Don't worry, I believe your third brother and the others will return safely," she comforted them.
She had done everything she could, and she believed in Yunmo's abilities.
Yun Ying pursed her lips and remained silent, staring blankly at the deserted official road.
"Go back, it's getting cold, be careful not to catch a cold."
Lin Yinan turned around, preparing to jump off the city wall, but met Su Yunzhi's gaze.
I don't know how long he stood there, motionless, letting the cold wind make his clothes flutter.
With a sigh, Lin Yinan put his arm around Yun Ying's waist and jumped down from the city wall, landing right in front of Su Yunzhi.
Su Yunzhi looked at the person so close to him. The cold wind made his cheeks flush slightly. He hurriedly greeted her, then turned and left without saying a word.
His stiff legs almost prevented him from taking a step, but he managed to steady himself and avoid falling.
Coming to her senses, Yunying looked at Su Yunzhi, then at the expressionless Lin Yinan, and the words she wanted to say suddenly vanished.
