Chapter 13 The Orchard Must Be Utilized

These peach trees are taller than a person, and they're at the peak of their fruiting season. There are seven of them; they should yield plenty of fruit. The village chief nodded, "You're a good girl."

These days, who doesn't keep their food to themselves? Who would openly share it? It's clear that Qin Xiaozhou isn't a stingy person.

Wang Sanshu's wife joked, "We have to keep a close eye on these fruit trees; no one can pick any fruit before they're ripe."

The others readily agreed, and several men even went home to get hoes and join in planting. Someone joked, "Sanshu's wife, you need to tell your Sanshu to keep an eye on your cows, so he doesn't eat these peach trees."

Wang Sanshu's family owns an oxcart, which he uses to travel between the town and the county seat on market days. The town is located northwest of Wangjia Village, and he passes by the Lu family's house.

Qin Xiaozhou swallowed hard as he looked at the stir-fried meat, but his chopsticks instead picked up bamboo shoots. "That's a poor person's mindset. The more you save, the poorer you get. Only those who know how to take risks have the potential to become rich and powerful."

Wang Lan choked and dared not speak again. After dinner, under the bright moon in the night sky, Qin Xiaozhou organized the Lu brothers to move the withered grass to the back of the thatched shed, and then moved all the bamboo branches that had been cut that day, as well as the unwanted sections, back and piled them behind the house.
