Chapter 174 A Visit to Express Gratitude

Zhao Xian quickly came out of the workshop and saw three people standing next to the carriage. He didn't recognize the young man, but he knew the other two very well. Needless to say, the young man should be Ruan Zhenggang's eldest son, Ruan Jingui.

When the three saw Zhao Xian walking towards them, they immediately knelt down, and Ruan Fang's eyes were filled with tears.

"What are you doing? Don't be so polite, get up quickly." After saying that, Zhao Xian immediately went to help them up.

"Sir, we're not just being polite. If it weren't for your help this time, the Ruan family would have been completely ruined. You are our family's great benefactor," Ruan Zhenggang said emotionally.

"Manager Ruan, you flatter me. This time, it wasn't just me who saved your family from danger; Miss Lin, Princess Li Xue, and Magistrate Gao were also there."

"Perhaps all of this is God's arrangement. Bad people like Ruan Jin will surely get their comeuppance." Zhao Xian said as he helped Ruan Zhenggang up.

"Yes, it is indeed because God took pity on our Ruan family and did not want us to perish. In any case, we still have to thank the registrar for saving our lives."

"Come on, Manager Ruan, let's go inside and talk. I want to know how the government dealt with Ruan Jin." After saying that, Zhao Xian led the three of them into the house.

After the three entered the house and sat down, someone brought them tea, and Ruan Zheng began to recount what happened next.

After Fang was taken to the county government office last time and learned the truth, she returned home. In order not to let Ruan Jin see any flaws, she rarely spoke, as if she had become stupid.

Ruan Jin began to inquire about the situation at the county government office. Fang Shi just kept crying and kept saying that her master was dead, and that he had injuries and died from vomiting blood.

Ruan Jin knew in his heart that Ruan Zhenggang was deeply poisoned and was not far from death. Judging from the injuries on his body, he must have been beaten. Therefore, it was not surprising that Ruan Zhenggang died soon after arriving at the county government office.

At this moment, Ruan Jincai realized that he did not see Ruan Zhenggang's youngest son, so he asked about it. Fang explained that he had been taken away by his maternal family and was being raised there temporarily.

Ruan Jin believed him. He had cleared all obstacles in order to seize the Ruan family's property, and the next step was to implement the final step of his plan.

The next day, Ruan Jin pretended to be in a panic and came to Fang Shi to tell her that the government might come to confiscate Ruan Zhenggang's property and put it to public use, and asked Fang Shi what to do.

The fox's tail has finally been revealed; it seems Ruan Jin is preparing to lay his cards on the table.

Fang immediately pretended to be in dire straits and anxiously asked Ruan Jin what to do and how to protect the Ruan family's assets.

Ruan Jin pretended to think for a while before coming up with a solution. He asked Fang to transfer all of the Ruan family's assets and businesses to him, and then transfer these assets to Ruan Zhenggang's youngest son's name after he grew up.

This was indeed a brilliant move. In this way, Ruan Jin acquired all of the Ruan family's assets and businesses without lifting a finger.

In ancient times, the transfer of property and industry was permissible, but it had to be registered with the government. As long as the parties involved agreed to the transfer and signed the documents, the government would not interfere.

Ruan Jin was aware of this; as long as he drafted a document and Fang signed and sealed it, the document would immediately take effect.

Fang pretended not to understand these things and asked Ruan Jin if this would prevent the government from confiscating their property.

Ruan Jin reassured her that this was merely a temporary measure. He did this to protect the Ruan family's property and assets from being confiscated by the government, as he wanted to repay his cousin for his care and trust over the years.

Fang cursed inwardly, thinking, "What a beast in human form, there's nothing he wouldn't do."

Although Ruan Jin was already getting impatient, he still had to pretend to be very patient on the surface.

Fang told him that everything was up to him and that he should do it immediately.

After Ruan Jin left, he quickly drafted two documents and handed them to Fang Shi. Fang Shi glanced at the documents and couldn't help but curse inwardly. Ruan Jin had already figured out all the family's assets and businesses. It seemed that he had put in a lot of effort.

Ruan Jin has already signed his name on this document. Once he signs it, puts his fingerprint on it, and submits a copy to the government for filing, the document will be effective.

After looking at them for a while, Fang asked Ruan Jin if he should also bring out the many property deeds and business licenses that he had at home.

Ruan Jin was overjoyed. It was best that Fang would give him these things willingly, so he immediately nodded and said that these things were necessary.

So Fang started rummaging through drawers and cabinets looking for things. Because there were so many things, she didn't know where Ruan Zhenggang had put them. She searched until dark, but still hadn't found everything.

Although Ruan Jin was anxious, he patiently waited.

Fang was already weak, and after such a long ordeal, she was exhausted. She lay down on a chair to rest and told Ruan Jin that it was already dark and they should continue searching tomorrow. Once they found it, she should immediately go to the government office to file a report.

Seeing that Fang was indeed tired, Ruan Jin realized that he could only wait until tomorrow. He couldn't rush things. After Ruan Jin left, Fang picked up the documents that were on the table.

She folded the two documents and put them in her pocket, then went out the door and headed straight for the county government office.

The yamen runners at the gate immediately led her inside. Magistrate Gao looked at the document drafted by Ruan Jin and let out a cold laugh.

It was time to close the net. Magistrate Gao immediately dispatched his men to Ruan's residence to arrest Ruan Jin.

Magistrate Gao held court that very night, and Ruan Jin was quickly brought in. By this time, Ruan Jin already sensed that things were not going well. Perhaps Ruan Zhenggang's case involved him, and the officials were bringing him in to ask him something.

But he never expected that he was about to face a terrible disaster.

The main hall of the county government was brightly lit. Magistrate Gao sat on the throne, with his clerk standing beside him and imposing yamen runners on both sides. The setup was clearly for a trial.

Upon seeing this, Ruan Jin immediately sensed something was terribly wrong, his legs went weak, and he knelt down in fright.

Magistrate Gao slammed his gavel and shouted:

"Ruan Jin, do you know your crime?"

“I have always obeyed the law and have not committed any crime. Please investigate, sir.”

In Ruan Jin's view, he wanted to seize the Ruan family's property and business, and to murder the Ruan family members. The government was unaware of this. If he was guilty, it should be because he was implicated by Ruan Zhenggang, and he should not have committed any serious crime.

"No crime committed?" Magistrate Gao sneered.

“You killed Ruan Zhenggang, confess immediately.”

Ruan Jin was taken aback. Could it be that the authorities had found out about him drugging Ruan Zhenggang? That was impossible. He had kept his actions very secret and had outsiders do them. The authorities couldn't possibly know.

Ruan Zhenggang died in the county government office. The government was unwilling to take responsibility and wanted to make him take the blame. If that's the case, then it's really troublesome.
