At lunchtime, most of the dishes on the table were wild game, and with the addition of baijiu (Chinese liquor), Li Hui was in high spirits.
Because he had drunk strong liquor at noon, Li Hui became a little dizzy after a few drinks. Zhao Xian didn't dare let him drink more, but Li Hui got excited and drank more and more.
Zhao Xian looked at the guards beside him, but they shook their heads. The eldest prince had always been willful and they dared not stop him from drinking.
Having no other choice, Zhao Xian secretly replaced the liquor with diluted baijiu. Surprisingly, Li Hui didn't notice the difference, indicating that Li Hui had indeed drunk too much.
Perhaps because it was his first time drinking strong liquor, Li Hui quickly got drunk, and Zhao Xian hurriedly had several guards take him to an inn to rest.
After Li Hui was sent away, Zhao Xian wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. If he had known this would happen, he would have followed Li Guang to Jiangnan that day. The imperial edict was received by Magistrate Cao, and he was not at home. He guessed that Li Hui would have left anyway.
This god is too difficult to please; if you're not careful, you'll get into big trouble.
Li Hui was drunk and probably needed to sleep for a while, so they could use that time to look for the two little ones. However, the people who went out searched for more than an hour but still couldn't find them.
Could it be that they have sensed the danger and hidden themselves? If so, that's good. There's no need for me to go after them. They will come out when Li Hui leaves.
Li Hui slept for more than an hour in the inn until the effects of the alcohol finally wore off. He realized that he had gotten drunk mainly because he had drunk too much. He would definitely savor the food slowly next time. Because he got drunk, he missed out on eating a lot of wild game.
When the guards saw that Li Hui had woken up, they rushed over to serve him. After drinking a cup of sobering tea, Li Hui was basically sober.
After walking around the room a few times, Li Hui saw that it was still early, so he decided to go out for a walk.
The guards had long been bored in the room, and when Li Hui said he wanted to go for a walk, they immediately followed him out of the inn.
We'd already explored the entire village and there wasn't much left to see, so we decided to leave the village and wander into the countryside.
The scenery outside the village is indeed beautiful. The weather is neither too hot nor too cold this season, and it feels very comfortable whether the sun is shining on you or the breeze is blowing on your face.
By this time, Li Hui had completely sobered up. He walked along the path in the fields, with six imposing guards following behind him. The people working in the fields stopped their farm work and watched them from afar. Li Hui felt a surge of superiority.
After walking for a while, they saw a farm ahead, which brought some life to the fields.
The farm was quite large, and Li Hui immediately became interested; he wanted to go and take a look.
Li Hui led his guards toward the farm when, just then, a soft "whimpering" sound came from the bushes not far away.
Li Hui stopped in his tracks. He had never heard such a sound before and was very curious about it.
"Can you hear that? What's that sound? What animal is calling?" Li Hui asked.
The guards shook their heads, because they really didn't know what animal's call it was.
One of the guards had sharp eyes and suddenly spotted a black bear walking past them. The bear wasn't very big; it was chubby and waddled as it walked.
"Look, there's a black bear up ahead!" the guard shouted.
Li Hui turned his head and saw that a chubby black bear was swaggering forward, seemingly oblivious to them.
Li Hui was overjoyed. Wasn't this wild game delivered right to his door? He was having such good luck today; he could almost smell the delicious bear paws.
"Grab it, don't let it get away!" Li Hui shouted.
Several guards drew their swords and rushed towards the black bear, and Li Hui also ran after them.
The black bear was walking when it suddenly saw several people drawing swords and charging towards it. It was so frightened that it turned tail and ran away.
Perhaps because the black bear was chubby, it ran as hard as it could, but it couldn't run fast, and the distance between it and the guards was getting shorter and shorter.
With the black bear within easy reach, Li Hui was overjoyed; he was certain he would have bear paws tonight.
The black bear, which was running, looked back and saw that the group was getting closer and closer. It quickly sped up and soon the distance between them increased.
And so, the distance between the group and the black bear kept increasing and decreasing. Finally, when they were close enough that the guards' swords could almost pierce the bear, the bear disappeared into the forest.
"Chase! We can't let this black bear get away now that we've got it. We have to catch it today no matter what!" Li Hui was already panting heavily, but he was unwilling to give up the game he had obtained, and he ordered several guards to give chase.
A small red fox followed Li Hui not far behind, occasionally letting out a few soft "woofs".
The black bear running ahead adjusted its speed and direction from time to time based on the call. This black bear was Xiao Hei. This time, it cooperated perfectly with Yu Hong, leading Li Hui and his group into the mountains.
These two little devils might be up to some mischief to teach Li Hui and his guards a lesson.
But Li Hui had no idea about any of this. In their eyes, the black bear was exhausted and they could catch it with a little more effort. Little did they know that they had already fallen into the trap set by the two little guys.
Xiao Hei and a few others went deep into the mountains. Although the black bear was within reach, they just couldn't catch it. If they had known this would happen, they would have brought their crossbows. They wouldn't have had to go through so much trouble.
Gradually, they arrived deep in the mountains, where towering trees blocked out the sun, making it impossible to see where the sun was or distinguish east from west.
Looking at the black bear that was running ahead just moments ago, it had vanished without a trace. Li Hui was furious that after chasing it for so long, he had actually lost sight of it. He cursed the guards as useless.
The wild game got away, we couldn't get the bear paws, and we suffered so much. Our luck is just too bad.
After a period of fruitless activity, they decided to head back the way they came. However, after walking for a while, they found themselves back in the same place.
Oh no, are we lost? The group looked at each other in bewilderment. This time, they carefully checked their direction. Which way did they come from? Why can't they find their way out?
They cautiously walked back again, and without a doubt, they returned to the same spot.
"This is unbelievable!" The group was terrified. They had never encountered anything like this before and had gotten lost in the mountains.
Li Hui plopped down on the ground, utterly exhausted. Although young, his physical strength was no match for that of the guards.
It was getting darker and darker, and if they couldn't find their way out, they would have to spend the night in the mountains.
Not far from them, Xiao Hei stood on a large rock, with the little fox Yu Hong perched on Xiao Hei's head, watching Li Hui and his guards, who were as anxious as ants on a hot pan.
Yu Hong called softly, and Xiao Hei carried her away from the dense forest and ran down the mountain.
