After seeing them off, I first inspected the items on site. There was still more than half a bucket of tofu pudding left, but judging from the watermarks, only a few bowls had been sold. A bowl of boiled soybeans had only left a small dent, and a small half-bowl of pickled vegetables was somewhat dried out. The hot sauce in the large bucket still smelled quite fragrant.
Lan Ya Mei, behind everyone's back, took out a 300-gram packet of chicken bouillon from her spatial storage under the cover of the stove and her sleeves. Taking advantage of the fake stirring motion, she poured it all in. She took a small sip, and the familiar technology and ruthless work were truly delicious and addictive! She then poured in half a bottle of soy sauce, picked up a spoon to check the color, and found it bright and fresh!
Next, she placed the packaged steamed beef in hot water and broke the whole twisted dough sticks she bought into pieces. Once everything was ready, Lan Ya Mei started calling out her wares.
"Tofu pudding, tofu pudding, delicious beef tofu pudding, crispy and crunchy, you won't forget it after you've tasted it. Don't miss it if you pass by, it's only a few coins, you won't lose out, you won't be cheated. A few coins can't buy you delicacies from land or sea!"
Three people were on the second floor, each holding a bowl of noodles. Except for Qiu Zeyu, who calmly ate his noodles, the other two were filled with worry. The grandfather and grandson had been making these calls every day, with little effect.
Downstairs, seeing that her shouts were ineffective, Lan Yamei stopped a man who had glanced at her and began to promote her product, "Brother, have a bowl. This is a new flavor, beef and tofu pudding. I guarantee you've never had it before."
The man in the rough clothes glanced at the stall and said suspiciously, "I've eaten there before, it's just so-so. It used to be an old man selling it with his grandson, right?" He then disdainfully tried to rush out of the crowd.
"Wait, wait, I'll give you this bowl for free. Do you want some?"
"Well... it's okay if I don't pay." The man thought, since he wasn't in a hurry and someone was offering to treat him for free, he might as well eat.
Seeing that her older brother had agreed, Lan Yamei invited him to sit down at a small table, served him a bowl of tofu pudding, without beef or fried dough twists, and only served him a large spoonful of sauce.
Looking at the familiar, unappetizing bowl of tofu pudding in front of him, the older brother shook his head, stirred it with a small wooden spoon, and prepared to drink it in one gulp.
Lan Yamei was confident and didn't say anything, waiting for everyone to finish eating before speaking.
The man took a big gulp, but before he could swallow it, his eyes widened. He carefully swallowed the rest of his drink and exclaimed in surprise, "How come this tastes different?" He then took a small sip, swallowing slowly this time, his face showing obvious enjoyment.
"It's so delicious! It looks the same as before, but the taste is completely different. So good! Is this still the same old man's tofu pudding?" The man was clearly interested.
"Yes, it's still the old man's, but the recipe has been adjusted. Now, in addition to the basic version you're eating, there's a new one that's even tastier," Lan Yamei tempted, smacking her lips.
"Any new flavors? Give me a bowl." The older brother was clearly hooked on the taste and wanted another bowl.
Seeing that her goal had been achieved, Lan Yamei enthusiastically introduced, "One bowl is no problem, I guarantee you'll never forget it! But there's a charge."
"How much?" The older brother clearly still wanted to eat.
"5 coins."
"So expensive!" The older brother stood up, hesitating and deciding he didn't want to eat anymore.
"Brother, this is a new style, a hundred times better than your previous bowl, only 5 coins, and it even has beef in it." Lan Yamei didn't let this customer off the hook, coaxing him gently.
"Alright then, it's only the price of a bowl of wine, give me a bowl." In the end, he couldn't resist his curiosity.
Lan Yamei served a bowl as before, then added seven or eight finger-sized pieces of steamed beef, sprinkled with a handful of fried dough twists, and finally put it on the table.
As soon as it was placed on the table, it attracted the attention of several passersby.
Seeing the unfamiliar combination, the man glanced at the owner, received an approving look, and had no choice but to stir it as usual. He scooped out a spoonful, ate half of it in small bites, chewed a few more times, and his brow relaxed. He couldn't help but grin and exclaim, "It's so delicious! So delicious! This money was well spent! The tofu pudding is smooth and flavorful! The beef is tender and chewy, and the fried dough twists are crispy. They look completely unrelated, but they taste like a masterpiece! Worth it! Worth the 5 coins!"
Upon hearing this, several curious people became interested and gathered around to peek.
Lan Yamei generously introduced, "Dear neighbors, we have a new type of tofu pudding available for purchase. A bowl of regular tofu pudding is only 2 coins, and a bowl of deluxe beef tofu pudding is only 5 coins."
The older brother kept nodding to everyone, praising them highly.
Despite the class being like this, no one was willing to give it a try.
Lan Yamei continued her sales pitch, "Today is the first day of the new flavor, so it's cheap. Tomorrow, the price will go up by one coin. This is our secret recipe, the only one of its kind in the world! If you don't like it, you don't have to pay! Anyone else want to try it?"
Someone was so tempted by the way the first man was eating that they said, "Boss, give me a bowl of beef tofu pudding. I want to see how delicious it really is." As they spoke, they took out 5 coins and handed them to Lan Ya Mei.
Then someone took out two coins and handed them to Lan Ya Mei, saying, "I'll have a regular bowl first, and see if it's any different from before."
Lan Yamei efficiently served them one by one, and the two of them didn't stand on ceremony, quickly taking a small bite with comical expressions, secretly exclaiming that the taste was truly different! It was incredibly delicious, nodding affirmatively as they slurped it down in large gulps. The one eating the beef tofu pudding, in particular, had a completely satisfied look on their face.
Customers who had ordered regular tofu pudding suddenly felt cheated; they should have just had beef tofu pudding, which would have been much tastier. Thinking it over, they did it immediately, finishing it in two gulps, and then called out, "Another bowl of beef tofu pudding, please!"
Lan Ya Mei knew that the promotion had been a success.
Seeing this, everyone knew the food must taste good, and three or four more people shouted, "Give us a bowl of beef tofu pudding!"
A few people, hesitant to make a choice, cautiously called out, "Let's try a regular bowl first."
