"Of course I'm willing!" Zhao Zhicheng said with certainty.
Everyone was excited; they had come to Longyang Town and had this wonderful encounter.
"However, Doctor Mei's apprentices can only work at her clinic; they can't teach outsiders," Zhao Zhicheng lied. Lan Yamei was secretly delighted. This kid was really something; he was a master swindler. As long as these old men stayed, the problem would be solved.
The ancients' determination to pursue superb medical skills far exceeded the two men's expectations, and they immediately said, "What's so difficult about that! As long as Doctor Mei is willing to take us in, we will immediately start working here."
"Food and lodging included, the more you work, the more you earn, how about it?" Zhao Zhicheng pressed his advantage.
"OK!"
Without further ado, Zhao Zhicheng quickly wrote out the contract, and all fifteen doctors signed their names. Then, Lan Yamei, along with fifteen other doctors, booked the entire second floor of Tongfu Inn, creating eight rooms, two people per room.
The owners of Tongfu Inn were practically begging Lan Ya Mei to come down to earth! They were never fully booked all year round, and this one day they'd booked the entire place—it was unbelievable! They immediately grabbed two chickens from the backyard and insisted on giving them to Lan Ya Mei as a token of their gratitude.
Now that there are more people to support, Lan Yamei didn't stand on ceremony and carried the two big roosters back to the barbecue restaurant.
That evening, everyone gathered early, and five large tables of dishes were prepared before dinner was finally settled. A passionate speech ignited everyone's enthusiasm! They all declared, "Let's work hard! Let's strive to do our best!"
The dinner party was organized, spearheaded by Tie Tou and Zhao Zhicheng, and everyone was delighted.
Lan Yamei carried two bowls of chicken noodle soup upstairs. Since today, Wang Fengyang and Qiu Zeyu haven't come downstairs, for safety reasons.
Knowing that the two were still hungry, Lan Yamei secretly took out four roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) from her spatial storage, and only then were they satisfied.
Seeing that her master and Sister Lan had something to say, Yangyang sensibly went to her room to sleep.
"The clinic is all set up. We found fifteen doctors and arranged them all on the second floor of Tongfu Inn. We won't be tired anymore!" Lan Yamei said softly as she poured water for Qiu Zeyu, recounting what had happened that afternoon.
"Is there enough room in the clinic?" Qiu Zeyu seemed much better. He drank the water Lan Yamei handed him; it tasted sweet. "What kind of water is this? Did you add sugar?"
Lan Yamei didn't dare say it was glucose, she only said, "I added some sugar, isn't it delicious?"
Qiu Zeyu nodded, his eyes suddenly softening. "Are you scared?"
Lan Yamei tidied up the water glass, sat on the edge of the bed, and asked, "What are you afraid of?"
"Afraid I'll die?"
Lan Yamei's heart pounded as she was stared at. Having been single for over thirty years, she blushed in panic at the burning gaze of a young man in his twenties, and protested, "I haven't mastered my light-body skills yet, you can't die."
"Really?" Qiu Zeyu had already seen through her shyness. He raised his hand and pulled her into his arms without saying a word. It was time to get married, and she was the one.
Lan Ya Mei's ears turned red all the way to her neck! It's not like they've never hugged before, but this feeling is so different; her heart is pounding wildly.
"I won't allow you to die! At least not before me." Lan Yamei was still terrified when she thought of Qiu Zeyu, who was covered in blood in the ditch. She leaned on his shoulder and whispered her request.
"It will never happen again, I promise." Qiu Zeyu endured the pain from the pulling of his wound, gently smoothed her long ponytail, and then took out a delicate silver hairpin from his pocket and gently inserted it into her hair.
Lan Yamei felt something and reached out to touch it, only to have her hand grasped by Qiu Zeyu's slender, warm hand.
They were both stunned. They looked at each other, and in a flash, their thin lips unconsciously drew closer.
Lan Ya Mei blushed with embarrassment and closed her eyes. This was her first kiss in her life. She was awkward and didn't know whether to keep her eyes open or closed. Her body was stiff with nervousness.
Qiu Zeyu was clearly also a first-timer, and he only touched her lightly before quickly separating. The soft touch opened the door to a new world for both of them. Unconsciously, they slowly moved closer again, this time with more tenderness.
Just as the two were deeply in love, Zhao Zhicheng suddenly pushed the door open with a bang. Startled, the two quickly separated.
Qiu Zeyu quickly lay down, and Lan Yamei turned her head away, not daring to look at the door. She quickly took off the hairpin from her hair and stuffed it into her bosom.
Zhao Zhicheng was taken aback at first, then understood. He quickly left the room, closed the door, and knocked again, "May I come in?"
Qiu Zeyu squeezed Lan Yamei's hand as a reassurance, and said loudly, "Come in."
Zhao Zhicheng chuckled when he saw the two of them, "Excuse me! I'm sorry to bother you two, Manager Wang has something urgent to discuss with my cousin downstairs."
"Okay, I'll be right there," Lan Yamei replied.
Zhao Zhicheng left after he finished speaking.
Lan Yamei then secretly took out a stun gun from her spatial storage and handed it to him, saying, "I'm going out for a bit, this is for you to use in self-defense." After demonstrating how to use it, she left shyly.
It turned out that Manager Wang had come to report that someone had taken the Eight Treasure Duck and headed out of the city.
Lan Yamei thanked Manager Wang and hurriedly ran out. Zhao Zhicheng, disregarding that the banquet was not yet over, chased after her and said, "It's not safe for you to go alone. I'll go with you."
Lan Yamei thought for a moment and didn't refuse. "Okay, more people means more chances of success. I dare say that as long as we catch this person, we will definitely be able to find Wu Tongling."
Under the cover of night, the two followed Liu Jianping from a distance. They walked for another ten miles or so after leaving the city before they saw him turn into a cave dwelling.
Before long, a figure emerged empty-handed and headed towards a village to the west.
The two didn't dare follow, keeping a close watch on the cave dwelling. Through the door, there was a faint light inside, making it easy to tell that someone lived there.
Lan Yamei muttered under her breath, "You know, these Japanese are really scoundrels. One minute they're faking their death, the next they're living in mountain caves, and now they're hiding in abandoned kilns."
