Lan Ya Mei has had a terrible time these past two days. She was enjoying a carefree stroll through Lin'an, planning to return home and continue making money. Who knew she'd suddenly be trafficked? It's true what they say, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
He was detained by the boat captain and locked in a thatched hut at the dock. His plan was to sneak the girl back after this trip and make her a wife for his mentally challenged son. He chose Lan Ya Mei because she was fairly pretty and also because she was healthy and was the first to wake up from the hallucinogenic drugs.
Before the silver he had given to others could even warm its hands, the search team had already arrived at the ferry.
Before the boatman could ask any questions, the steward waved his hand, and four or five soldiers with knives and dogs scurried into the thatched hut. The boatman broke out in a cold sweat. The steward hated people playing dirty tricks, and he was afraid that he couldn't hide the fact that he had hidden people from others. He hesitated for a moment, wondering whether he should kneel down and admit his mistake.
Several soldiers emerged from the thatched hut and shouted, "Nobody's here!"
The boat captain finally breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness they hadn't found them; if they had, he'd surely be beheaded. He had no idea what was going on on the island. Searching with a greyhound was something he'd never seen before in two years. He mustered the courage to ask, "Steward! What's going on? They've even searched all the way to the ferry."
"Mind your own business and don't ask about anything else! Report to me immediately if you spot any unfamiliar faces." The butler, his face dark, stormed off with his men.
Only when they could no longer see each other did the boatman hurriedly run into the thatched hut, only to find it empty! He slammed his fist into his left palm, biting his cheek, and said, "Good riddance! Saves me from losing my head."
...
Qiu Zeyu and Murong Xingchen hid by the hot spring. In another hour or so, Xiao Hongtao would arrive to join them, so the two of them started chatting.
"Who else besides you knows that Master has come to Lin'an?" Qiu Zeyu asked. After all, it seemed that Master's visit to Lin'an was not without reason. Perhaps he intended to eliminate corrupt officials in the court, but he wondered if this matter would implicate the Murong family.
“You know that too!” Murong Xingchen said, taking out the silver ingot from his pocket and leaning against the stone. “The silver ingot casting is all carried out under the secret supervision of the Murong family. These people dare to privately cast silver ingots on this deserted island. They are really audacious. When I get back, I will definitely report the truth and arrest all these criminals.”
"Murong Xingchen, don't blame me for not warning you, this matter is inextricably linked to your family. You'd better think carefully beforehand whether you are loyal to the Murong family or to your master, lest you be dumbfounded when the facts are right in front of you and don't know what to choose." Qiu Zeyu felt that something big was bound to happen to the Murong family this time.
"Stop talking nonsense! Our Murong family would never do such a thing! If anyone dares to deceive their superiors, cover up their wrongdoing, or break the law, I will not let them off lightly." Murong Xingchen toyed with the silver in his hand, completely certain of the Murong family's unwavering loyalty. Suddenly, he sat up, exclaiming in horror, "This isn't silver!"
"Let me see!" Qiu Zeyu grabbed the silver ingot, weighed it in his hand, and found that the weight was right as indicated, but the luster looked wrong, not bright enough, and had a sleazy look. "It's really not silver! You can't tell unless you look closely."
The two exchanged a glance and suddenly understood. No wonder they were hiding in this place; it turned out to be counterfeit money.
"Let's hurry back to Lin'an and report this to the master immediately so he can make a decision," Ouyang Xingchen suggested. After all, this was no small matter; someone was stealing money from the country.
"I can't leave until Lan Yamei is found. She's not very skilled, and in a place like this, neither of us can escape safely, so she's in even more danger. I have to find her." Qiu Zeyu couldn't wait any longer; the situation was more complicated than he had imagined.
...
Little Red Peach dared not come out to meet him before the agreed time, for fear of arousing suspicion.
Lan Yamei ran along the beach in the dark, her heart filled with hatred for the old man. She vowed to pluck out all his white beard once she got out. With that thought, Lan Yamei dared not slow her pace.
Finally, it was time for Little Red Peach to go out as usual. Joy followed behind, carrying the food basket, and the two leisurely went out the door.
Lord Xin felt that the lady was different today; she seemed carefree, but in reality, she had something on her mind.
Only after leaving the mansion and glancing back to make sure no one was following them did the two hurry onward.
Lan Ya Mei hadn't run far on the beach when she was startled by the barking of dogs behind her. Her legs went weak, and without time to hide, she simply picked up a piece of wood to prevent being bitten by the dogs.
"Butler, there are people ahead!"
"Quickly, unleash the dogs!"
The greyhound was incredibly fast; even on the soft sand, it could paw out and travel three meters in a single leap. Knowing she couldn't outrun it, Lan Ya Mei decided to fight it out.
Having been bitten by a dog as a child, Lan Yamei still felt lingering fear as she looked at the big, panting dog. She gripped the wooden stick tightly, her eyes fixed on the dog's head, ready to kill it with a single blow.
9 meters, 6 meters, 3 meters… Lan Ya Mei swung her big wooden stick, ready for a desperate fight. In the blink of an eye, a fan flew through the air, just past the dog's neck, and the dog's head was separated from its body.
Turning around, Qiu Zeyu was right behind her, shielding Lan Yamei with one hand and catching the fan that flew back like a boomerang with the other.
"Master, you've finally come to save me! I almost died in that dog's mouth." Lan Yamei was so glad to have met her family. She followed Qiu Zeyu closely, never leaving his side.
"Are you scared?" Qiu Zeyu looked at the disheveled and dirty-looking Guai Guai and felt a pang of heartache, but he was still angry about what happened the day before yesterday.
"How could I not be scared? Why did it take you so long to find me? I thought I was going to die here all by myself." With Qiu Zeyu around, she felt much more at ease, but she still wouldn't admit defeat.
The steward and his men had caught up. Seeing that Xi Gou had been killed, he was furious and shouted, "Chop him up!"
Qiu Zeyu shielded Lan Yamei behind him and said, "Swords have no eyes, you'd better hide."
The two sides fought fiercely. Although the other side had a large number of men, they were clearly no match for Qiu Zeyu. Many were killed or wounded, but Lan Yamei was not harmed at all.
At this moment, Murong Xingchen also arrived and fired a signal flare into the sky.
"Chirp-bang! Chirp-bang! Chirp-bang!"
Lord Xin, who was tracking Little Red Peach, heard the signal flare and immediately ordered Little Red Peach and Huanxi to be tied up and rushed to the location of the signal flare.
Upon receiving the signal, the chief steward of the mysterious mansion in Lin'an immediately reported to his master, and all forces rushed to Huludao.
The one-eyed butler scolded Murong Xingchen, "You little thief, you know how to use signal flares? I'd like to see what kind of reinforcements you can bring to Huludao!"
"My reinforcements aren't on Calabash Island. You'd better surrender now, and after my master finishes questioning you, he'll leave you with a whole corpse." Murong Xingchen recognized the man and, after a moment's thought, asked, "You're the pirate Qi Ludong! Aren't you?"
"I've been away from the world for so many years, I didn't expect anyone to still remember me! Well done, you have good taste!" The one-eyed steward was indeed Qi Ludong, the notorious pirate who used to make a fortune by killing people at sea, who had suddenly vanished without a trace.
"What are you doing here? Huludao is under the jurisdiction of the government. You've got some nerve!" Murong Xingchen was even more puzzled. How could a pirate be able to command the wind and rain on Huludao?
"Hahaha... Of course, it was me who gave me that identity!"
Everyone looked over and saw Lord Xin leading a group of men.
