Chapter 67 I'm Full

Despite his young age, the young Taoist acolyte was quite shrewd, possessing an unparalleled ability to read people. He noticed the stark difference in the Taoist master's demeanor when speaking to the other person compared to his usual manner, and knew this was someone the master valued, so he dared not be negligent.

He led the way respectfully and politely to the best room for the girl, and then warmly served her tea and snacks, asking her to eat while she waited.

Lan Yamei didn't stand on ceremony; after all the travel, she was starving except for breakfast.

This room is cozy and charming, simple yet very clean. Light curtains hang over the clear water, the solid wood furniture is unique and elegant, and by the window there is a stream of running water connected to a stone basin by a bamboo tube, which then flows away from the other end.

Lan Yamei touched it with her hand; it was cool but very clean.

The young Taoist priest proudly explained, "This was something the Taoist master researched. He was worried that we would get tired from always fetching water, so he brought a canal here, which has made things much easier."

"She's really smart!" Lan Yamei praised without reservation.

"That's right! Our Taoist priest is kind and generous. He not only cured many patients, but also showed us many new things. I've never seen this method of bringing spring water into the room before," the young Taoist said proudly.

Lan Yamei thought to herself, "It's normal that you haven't seen it before. How old are you? How many places have you been to?"

However, a slight doubt lingered in my mind. From the moment I met the other person, I felt an inexplicable closeness between us, but we definitely didn't know each other.

Just as Lan Yamei was lost in thought, the young Taoist took out a small clay stove, drew a copper kettle of water from the spring, lit a charcoal fire, and began to brew tea. He then casually took a teacup from the storage cabinet and placed it in front of Lan Yamei.

The teacup was entirely white and translucent, with an ear-shaped handle on one side, resembling a large modern coffee cup. Lan Ya Mei's eyes widened in surprise.

You're not seeing things, are you? Since transmigrating, I've never seen such modern ancient tea sets!

Seeing the girl's surprised expression, the young Taoist said proudly, "First time seeing this, right? This is also our Taoist master's idea. This way of drinking tea won't burn your hands, and we've never broken a cup with this teacup again." As he spoke, he heated a cup of top-grade Maojian tea and handed it to Lan Yamei.

"Thank you!" Lan Yamei replied mechanically, momentarily stunned, her suspicion growing stronger.

The aroma of tea wafted into my nostrils, and I couldn't resist gently blowing on the tea leaves. I took a small sip from the side, and it was refreshing and delicious – truly a top-quality tea!

The young Taoist priest said at the opportune moment, "These tea leaves were all gifts from others. Usually, people want to have a simple meal with my master, offering thousands or even tens of thousands of taels of gold, but my master has never agreed. I don't know why, but today, my master and you seem to get along particularly well." The young Taoist priest smiled as he said this.

"You won't take so much money? It's just a simple meal, it won't take up much of your time." Lan Yamei couldn't understand. Treating patients and saving lives is earning money, and dining with people is also earning money, what's the difference?

“Our family’s Taoist practice is very precious. Apart from treating illnesses and saving lives, we rarely come out except when we are locked in our rooms,” the young Taoist said with admiration.

"It must be so hard! Why not train a few more people to share the burden?" Lan Yamei thought the young Taoist was easy to talk to and wanted to ask him more questions.

"It's not like it's never happened before! My master used to take on a few disciples, but those people were too greedy for fame and fortune and always secretly accepted money from patients. They made our Asura Dao Platform a mess. Since then, my master has never taken on any disciples again and does everything himself. Although it's tiring, it's reassuring."

"By the way, little Taoist. I heard there are tigers in your mountains that come out and kill people. Is that true?" Lan Yamei took another sip of tea, picked up a piece of shortbread, and asked while eating.

"Well, please rest for a while, Miss. I have other matters to attend to, so I'll be leaving now. If you need anything, just call out twice and someone will come." The young Taoist's expression tightened. He didn't answer Lan Yamei's question directly, but instead made an excuse and hurriedly left the room.

Lan Yamei just grinned and continued drinking tea and eating pastries. She toyed with her teacup while keeping her eyes fixed on the irrigation canal.

The thought in his mind grew stronger: Master Xuyu must be like him, not belonging to this world, yet forced to stay here.

So, the old man with the white beard who deceived me has absolutely nothing to do with this place. He's a cunning charlatan, a conman who swindles and traffics people everywhere, yet he's throwing mud at the Asura Realm.

If I run into him again, I'll pluck all his beard so he won't dare do bad things again.

Before they knew it, the pot of tea was finished, and Lan Yamei brewed another one. After two pots of tea, there were hardly any snacks left on the table, and they were finally full.

Just as Lan Yamei was gazing out the window at the magnificent and spacious courtyard of the Daotai, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," Lan Yamei said, turning around.

It turned out to be the same young servant boy who brought in another bowl of beef noodles.

The noodles are crystal clear and, when stretched, look just like hand-pulled noodles. There are two bright green spinach leaves, a layer of chili oil, and a large chunk of beef covering the rim of the bowl.

"Young lady, this is a bowl of beef noodles prepared for you by the kitchen. Have something to eat first. I don't know when our Taoist priest will be finished with his work." The young Taoist said, thoughtfully placing the bowl on the table. He then took away a few empty snack plates and took out two more plates of melon seeds and peanuts from the cabinet.

"Enjoy your meal, young lady. Just let me know if you need anything." With that, she left the room.

Lan Yamei blushed a little, realizing she had such a big appetite. She had just drunk two pots of tea and eaten several plates of snacks, and now, seeing the fragrant beef noodles, she couldn't help but swallow her saliva again.

I thought to myself, "Whatever, I'll eat what I want." The oily beef noodles were devoured in no time, and only then did I feel truly full.

He burped, wiped his mouth, and took a small sip of tea.

I had just put down my bowl when someone knocked on the door again.

Lan Yamei thought it was that young Taoist priest bringing food again, so she hurriedly went to open the door, saying, "Don't bring any more, don't bring any more, I really can't eat anymore."

The door creaked open, and there stood the handsome young man, smiling broadly, outside. "Can't eat anymore?"

"Hey, I thought it was your little Taoist boy bringing me food again." Bluetooth Girl stepped aside to let the handsome young man in, and then explained, "Your little Taoist boy is too kind. I've had tea and snacks, and just now I had a bowl of beef noodles. There are still two plates of melon seeds and peanuts left." Blue Girl said, pointing to the empty bowl on the table.

The handsome young man glanced at the empty bowl, then sat down with a smile and asked, "Is this noodle soup with beef better in this era or that era?"

"What did you say?" Lan Yamei asked incredulously. Before she could even ask, the other person spoke first.

Judging from his words, he realized that he had been exposed!

Seeing the other person's momentary hesitation, the boastful Taoist priest showed off his English, "Where are you from?"
