Chapter 73 The Butterfly Leaves Again

"Dog food is food for dogs!" Zhao Zhicheng explained in a serious tone.

"You're supposed to be a hero among men, yet you love eating dog food! Don't eat it anymore." Qiu Zeyu spoke his mind, without any doubt about Zhao Zhicheng's explanation.

Lan Ya Mei couldn't help but chuckle. She wondered to herself, "Why didn't I think of teasing this guy before?"

"This... dog food, can I not eat it?" Zhao Zhicheng asked Lan Yamei helplessly while eating skewers.

Lan Yamei wasn't confused. She called downstairs, "Tietou, bring some pickled garlic up." While muttering, "If you don't eat garlic with skewers, it's not half as flavorful," she ate her meat heartily, refusing to directly answer Zhao Zhicheng's question.

Qiu Zeyu was very satisfied with this, grinning from ear to ear.

After a long day of running around, they were indeed hungry. The three of them ate in silence. When they were halfway through eating the skewers, Er Gou brought up the food.

Upon seeing the dry pot fish, Zhao Zhicheng's eyes lit up. He hadn't eaten this dish since transmigrating. Incredulously, he gave Lan Yamei a thumbs up. "Dry pot fish?" he said, his eyes welling up with tears.

"Well, boss, I didn't do anything." Er Gou, confused, quickly tried to clear himself of any wrongdoing.

"Go ahead and get busy, he's just hungry." Lan Yamei told Er Gou to go and get busy. Er Gou looked at the pile of empty slips, completely bewildered, so he quickly went downstairs to get to work.

Qiu Zeyu focused on eating, occasionally refilling the drinks of the two men. He was jealous of their conversation about things he didn't understand.

Lan Yamei picked up a piece of fish and put it in Zhao Zhicheng's bowl, saying with some pride, "How about it? Life here isn't any worse than in our time, is it? There's less backstabbing and more peace and enjoyment."

Seeing these objects brought back memories of home, and despite holding back her tears for a while, she couldn't hold them back any longer. She quickly wiped them away with her sleeve and said, trying to sound casual, "Not bad! Not bad!"

Leaving behind a technologically advanced era and arriving in this backward one, it's impossible not to feel a sense of loss. However, the most valuable quality in people is recognizing the current situation and accepting it with optimism. If we can't go back, then we can turn this place into an ideal home.

Lan Yamei took a bite of fish and advised, "Since we're here, let's make the best of it! We can't go back now, so let's just live a more comfortable life. Why be like before, working nine-to-five for the sake of getting rich or getting ahead, only to end up empty-handed?"

"The water and grass here are abundant, the people are simple and honest, the air is fresh, and the pressure is low. It's not bad to stay here." Zhao Zhicheng poked at the piece of fish in his bowl with his chopsticks, finally feeling homesick.

"Ahem! Don't mention time travel again! If you don't want others to see you as oddballs, keep this secret." Qiu Zeyu reminded them at the right time.

The three of them fell silent for a moment.

Just then, Lan Yamei suddenly realized that she hadn't seen Butterfly since she returned. She put down her chopsticks and went downstairs alone.

Butterfly usually helps with bookkeeping at the cashier and collects the money. Butterfly was in such a hurry to get back today that she didn't realize the cashier was an old accountant.

When the old accountant saw Lan Ya Mei approaching, he quickly clasped his hands in greeting.

Lan Yamei returned the greeting and asked, "Sir, are you new here?"

"I was invited by Manager Guan, and I've been here for three days."

"Okay, thank you for your help!"

After saying that, Lan Yamei went straight to the clinic. Butterfly was all alone now, how could she suddenly leave? Lan Yamei had a bad feeling.

Grandma Guan was still taking pulses and writing prescriptions, while Grandpa Ouyang was dispensing medicine and giving instructions. The father and son running the Deli Massage Parlor were cleaning up and preparing to close.

Although Lan Ya Mei was a little anxious, she still sat in the chair and waited for them to finish. The young man from the massage parlor quickly served her a bowl of hot tea.

After Aunt Guan finished her work and Uncle Ouyang saw off the last guest, the father and son went upstairs to rest after closing the door and turning off the lights, making room for the three of them.

"You crazy girl, you've had enough of Longyang Town! You've been away for so long this time, why aren't you resting when you get back? What are you doing sitting here with me again?" Aunt Guan said as usual.

"You two chat slowly, I'll go upstairs to check on those special patients first." Grandpa Ouyang said with a smile as he walked upstairs. Now that he can do what he likes, Grandpa Ouyang is full of fighting spirit every day and never gets tired.

"Aunt Guan, why haven't I seen any butterflies?"

“Butterfly received a letter a few days ago saying that there was news about Murong Bai, so she rushed off. We couldn’t dissuade her, so we could only let her go and check first. If she really finds him, the two lovers will finally be together, which would be a good thing.” Aunt Guan sighed and said, “If she doesn’t find him, it’s better to give up on this idea.”

"Who brought the letter?" Lan Yamei was very suspicious. After all, even the powerful Murong family couldn't find a single clue. What mysterious person could be so resourceful?

"A dart stuck the letter into the door panel at the shop entrance, which Er Gou found. I had my doubts too! But the letter was in Murong Bai's own handwriting. Butterfly recognized Murong Bai's handwriting, so she believed it without a doubt."

"Didn't you tell Rong Xingchen?" Lan Yamei always felt that the Murong family should take action regarding the Murong family's affairs. What was the meaning of calling Butterfly around?

"Stop being so indignant! Butterfly is deeply in love with Murong Bai. How could she possibly listen to what we say? Besides, the letter instructed Butterfly to go alone." At this point, Aunt Guan sighed, "Alas, let her die if she wants to! Without Murong Bai, she's just a walking corpse."

"Do you know where she went?"

"I didn't ask, and she wouldn't say. She didn't even say goodbye to the shop when she left. By the time everyone found out, she had vanished without a trace." Aunt Guan was a little angry. Thinking that the child had even kept it from her, she simply decided not to care anymore.

"Why are you in such a hurry? Could something have happened to you?" Although Butterfly was acting mysteriously and didn't treat everyone like family, they were still worried that the girl might be in danger again.

"In life, you can't avoid all the hardships you're meant to endure, and you can't avoid all the pitfalls you're meant to fall into. Just let her be!" Aunt Guan said with exasperation.

"I know you're reluctant to let go; the deeper the love, the more intense the resentment. Let me rest for a couple of days, and I'll find the butterfly for you."

"By the way, Murong Lan's condition has improved a lot, and there's not much I can do for her now. I plan to have her brother take her back to the manor tomorrow so she can rest for two or three months before we start a new treatment plan." Aunt Guan spoke with some pride about Murong Lan, after all, she had overcome a medical challenge.

"Aunt Guan, you are amazing! How is she now?" This news is the best news we've had in days.

“When I first took over, apart from her facial features, she was very prone to fractures. Now, after effectively clearing her meridians and expelling most of the accumulated toxins from her body, although she still cannot stand or walk, she will not fracture her bones easily anymore, and she can even feed herself snacks.”

"Murong Lan is truly fortunate to have met you," Lan Yamei congratulated excitedly.
