Chapter 69: A Major Earthquake Occurs After the Honest Revelation of His Transmigrated Identity

After some conversation, Lan Ya Mei finally had a general understanding of the situation.

Those innocent people who died unjustly were indeed killed by the Taoist Master Xuyu himself, who then framed the wild beasts in the forest. No one knows this inside story yet. Everyone in the temple believes that the Taoist Master Xuyu suffers from a hidden illness and frequently experiences drastic changes in temperament; no one suspects that people are constantly dying.

After each murder, the Taoist priest would hide, leaving Zhao Zhicheng, who had regained his senses, to deal with the scene.

Therefore, Zhao Zhicheng lived a very hard life, and was practically a scapegoat.

Zhao Zhicheng didn't know why the desertification in the nearby villages and towns was getting worse.

The three sat together in silence, each lost in their own thoughts, overwhelmed with information.

With Qiu Zeyu keeping things under control, Xu Yu Daoren dares not cause trouble, which puts Zhao Zhicheng at ease.

Just as the three of them were frowning, the young Taoist boy knocked on the door and urged them, "Master, the next patient is ready."

"Okay, I'm coming right now," Zhao Zhicheng replied loudly, sounding exhausted. He then glanced at the two of them with a wry smile and said, "I'll go take care of my work now." With that, he left.

The two people remained in the room. Qiu Zeyu remained silent. Based on their behavior before and after, he clearly believed that they were telling the truth. If they weren't from this era, then where were they from? He waited for Lan Yamei to give him an explanation.

Time will tell. Through their time together, he gained Lan Yamei's trust, and seeing her patiently awaiting the truth, she finally revealed everything.

Qiu Zeyu was stunned after hearing this; he never imagined that there was another world outside of this one. He looked at Lan Yamei, whose eyes were darting around.

Looking back, it's no wonder this guy was always so special; he was from a completely different world.

Lan Yamei has now revealed all her secrets to the other person, and she's feeling quite uneasy. Although the other person is trustworthy, she still feels inexplicably uneasy.

Just as Lan Yamei was about to change the subject, a sudden, violent tremor shook the ground beneath her feet, causing the teacup on the table to shatter on the floor and the entire room to shake.

Lan Yamei felt a headache coming on, and as the world spun around her, a pair of large hands gripped her arms tightly.

Immediately, people outside shouted, "Earthquake! Earthquake! Help!"

The two hurriedly ran outside. The courtyard was in complete chaos. The once neat and orderly line of people waiting for medical treatment was now scattered and in disarray.

Amid the chaotic crowd, several civilians who had been injured by falling objects were clutching their wounds and screaming as they fled.

Due to the violent tremor, the huge incense burner in the center of the courtyard broke off one leg and, unable to support itself, stumbled and crashed towards a young Taoist boy who was maintaining order. The boy, with his back to the danger, was completely unaware of it.

Lan Ya Mei, who was high up, shouted anxiously, "Be careful!" But the distance was too far, and she didn't know any light work. She was so anxious that her heart was in her throat, and she only wished she had more hands.

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a white shadow flew out, swiftly bracing the giant incense burner with a single palm strike, saving the young Taoist's life.

Just as Lan Yamei breathed a sigh of relief, two Daoist boys downstairs, their hands covered in blood, flung open the door and shouted in panic, "Something's happened! Something's happened!"

Those in the courtyard who hadn't yet gotten their money back were all shocked, their expressions ranging from one of surprise to another!

Before the two Taoist boys could say a second word, the second wave of earthquakes arrived.

The roof tiles fell like snowflakes, the trees shook wildly, the furnishings in the yard bounced up and down as if dancing, the ground was like crazy noodles, yellow dust filled the air, and the roof swayed wildly, creaking as if it were drunk.

The second wave of the earthquake was stronger than the first, causing anyone in the courtyard who still harbored any hope to flee in panic, desperately trying to squeeze out the door in a completely rude manner.

Among the throng of people pushing and shoving were people dressed in red, black, white, brocade, cotton, and linen, as well as Taoist boys. In short, it was a complete mess, with everyone trying to escape for their lives, and there was no order whatsoever.

Lan Yamei was also scared, but she was still worried for Zhao Zhicheng. If she wasn't mistaken, the room from which the two Taoist boys with blood-covered hands came out was the treatment room where Zhao Zhicheng treated his patients.

Oh no! Something's happened!

Lan Yamei ran tremblingly down the broken, dancing staircase towards the door; she was going to save Zhao Zhicheng.

Qiu Zeyu followed closely behind, the two of them rushing inside, a stark contrast to the crowd rushing out.

The two rushed into the house, the first thing they smelled was the pungent stench of blood. Further inside, they saw large pools of blood on the floor.

My city has been knocked unconscious by a heavy object, lying in the bloodstains on the ground. On the operating table lies a middle-aged, thin man with no hair or beard.

The man was shirtless, with a horizontal cut across his abdomen and a scalpel stuck in his chest, bleeding profusely. His lips were white, and he seemed to be dying.

Lan Yamei glanced at the scene and ran over in a few steps to help Zhao Zhicheng, who was lying on the ground, up. She called out urgently, "Wake up! Wake up!" At the same time, she used the method taught by Aunt Guan to pinch his philtrum hard.

Qiu Zeyu extended two fingers and checked the breath of the beardless man under his nose, then softly murmured, "Dead!"

After Lan Yamei pinched and shouted, Zhao Zhicheng finally slowly opened his eyes. He frowned, covered his throbbing head, and slowly sat up, groaning, "It hurts! It hurts!"

"Are you alright?" Lan Yamei asked worriedly when she saw that Zhao Zhicheng had woken up.

Zhao Zhicheng rubbed the back of his head, grinning, and said, "I'm fine, what brings you all here?"

"Earthquake! Brother! Why are you lying on the ground?" Lan Yamei asked quickly and directly.

"I don't know. I was in surgery when someone suddenly hit me from behind with a stick, and everything went black." Zhao Zhicheng said as he stood up and looked at the beardless man on the operating table.

"He's dead?" Zhao Zhicheng asked in surprise.

Before the two could speak, Zhao Zhicheng exclaimed in panic, "It's over! He can't die! If he dies, the Asura Temple will be in deep trouble."

Both of them were startled. Looking at the lifeless, beardless man, Qiu Zeyu boldly guessed, "Was he someone from the palace?"

Zhao Zhicheng nodded, completely flustered.

"It was all caused by the earthquake, so you don't need to take responsibility. If the higher-ups really blame you, I can testify for you." Qiu Zeyu wanted to gloss over the matter, since the real culprit behind the scenes had already disappeared without a trace.

"But someone attacked me, I..." Zhao Zhicheng said in a panic, trying to be honest.

Qiu Zeyu raised a finger, making a gesture for silence, and said, "Let's make this a small matter and then let it go. No one needs to worry about him." As he spoke, he reached out and gently patted Zhicheng's shoulder, explaining, "As far as I know, he wasn't a good person either. If he's dead, he's dead."

Lan Yamei believed Qiu Zeyu's words without a doubt; his character over the past few months speaks for itself.

His eyes lit up as he advised Zhao Zhicheng, "Why don't you take this opportunity to pull off a clever escape?"

"Shedding its skin like a cicada?" Zhao Zhicheng repeated, somewhat bewildered.
