Chapter 199 Teasing the Son

Min Yueqing had been pinned down by Xiao Wei for a long time and was starting to feel the strain, so she reached out and patted Xiao Wei's back to signal it to get up.

Xiao Wei lifted his big head off Min Yueqing's shoulder and stood up to carefully examine Min Yueqing's face.

Whether it sensed that Min Yueqing was tired or received a command from her, it retracted its two front legs and lay down beside Min Yueqing's legs as it had in the morning, resting its large head on her lap.

Everyone else was amazed and couldn't help but admire Serena Williams' quick wit once again.

Ah Zhu poured the heated milk into a bowl and placed it on the small table. "Miss, the milk is ready, but it's a little hot."

Min Yueqing nodded. "It's okay, let it sit for a while before drinking it."

Only then did Pei Han notice the almost untouched glutinous rice cake on the plate in front of Pei Ji. He couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with Lele? Didn't you eat anything for lunch?"

Min Yueqing turned Pei Ji's plate around, indicating that Pei Han should look at it himself.

Pei Han realized what was going on when he saw the tooth at the top of the glutinous rice cake. "So it's starting to lose its baby teeth. Which one fell out?"

Pei Ji kept his mouth tightly shut, showing no intention of answering the question.

Pei Han turned his gaze to Min Yueqing, who silently mouthed the shape of her front teeth. Pei Han blinked knowingly.

Seeing his son looking listless, Pei Han laughed and teased him, "In a little while, we'll throw this tooth into a ravine, and the teeth that grow back will definitely be beautiful and straight."

Upon hearing this, Pei Ji looked up in surprise and asked Pei Han, "Do you throw all the fallen teeth into the ditch?"

Pei Han answered seriously, "Throw the lower teeth down low, and the upper teeth up high."

Pei Ji had never heard of such a thing before, nor had he ever seen it in a book. His big eyes widened in disbelief, and he unconsciously let out an "ah" sound.

Min Yueqing watched up close as Pei Han tried to amuse his son with no real sincerity, and her innocent little rascal actually believed it. She couldn't help but feel speechless.

Although this practice lacks scientific basis, it did divert Pei Ji's attention, and he eagerly asked Pei Han, "Daddy, when are we going to throw it away?"

Pei Han carefully lifted the curtain on the side of the carriage and glanced inside before replying, "It's just right now, you see."

Min Yueqing glanced at it and thought, "Isn't it appropriate?"

They had just reached a spot halfway up a mountain, with a steep cliff beside them. If they wanted to throw their teeth downhill, this was the perfect place.

Without thinking, Pei Ji crawled to Pei Han's side, grabbed Pei Han's hand and urged, "Father, let's throw it now."

A fleeting smile crossed Pei Han's sharp, phoenix-like eyes. He removed Pei Ji's baby tooth from the rice cake, then picked Pei Ji up with one hand and brought him to the car window. With a sense of ceremony, he held Pei Ji's hand and tossed the baby tooth out together.

The tiny baby tooth traced an arc in the air that was barely visible to the naked eye before falling into the bottomless cliff.

Pei Ji stared blankly at the cliff for a long while before turning to Pei Han and asking, "Is this alright?"

Pei Han smiled and replied, "Yes, now you just need to wait patiently for your beautiful new teeth to grow in, and remember not to lick the spot where your teeth fell out."

Pei Ji immediately and earnestly assured him, "I won't lick it."

Pei Han patted Pei Ji's little head approvingly and carried him back to the couch.

After this interruption, Pei Ji was clearly a little more relaxed about losing his teeth. As soon as he returned to the couch, he climbed back down to sit beside Min Yueqing, hugged her arm, and said excitedly, "Mother, I threw my teeth down the mountain."

Min Yueqing consciously took on the role of creating a lively atmosphere, watching Pei Ji enthusiastically praise, "Great job!"

As she spoke, Min Yueqing pulled the milk that had cooled down a bit from the small table to the side of the table. "Are you hungry? Have some milk to tide you over."

The carriage ride was inevitably bumpy, and A-Zhu was afraid that the milk would spill, so she specially chose a large bowl. It looked like there was a lot of milk, but in reality, the bowl was only a little over half full.

Pei Ji held the large bowl with both hands and sipped the water slowly from the rim.

Min Yueqing now views her little one through a very strong lens; even when the little one is simply drinking milk, she finds it incredibly adorable.

Pei Han didn't stay in the carriage for long; he sat for a while and then left.

Since reading wasn't allowed in the car, after finishing his milk, Pei Ji took out the building blocks that Min Yueqing had given him, preparing to continue trying to build with them.

Upon seeing this novel object, Shi Tou immediately approached and sat down on the other side of the small table, asking curiously, "Young Master, what is this?"

Pei Ji was intently placing the small wooden blocks one by one on the table when he heard Shi Tou's question. Without even looking up, he answered, "They are building blocks."

Stone pressed on, "What are building blocks? Are they fun?"

Pei Ji looked up this time, his eyes sparkling as he stared at the stone, and replied, "It's fun. You can build lots of things with blocks."

Stone scratched his head. "What can we build with these little pieces of wood?"

"My mother used them to build a house."

Upon hearing that these small wooden blocks could be used to build houses, Stone immediately became interested and asked, "Can I play with them?"

Pei Ji, being a very generous little fellow, readily agreed, "Of course, there are plenty."

Shi Tou moved closer to Pei Ji, peering into the box from the couch. Sure enough, there were many small wooden blocks inside. He said happily, "Let me help you carry them."

Pei Ji and Shi Tou were playing with building blocks with great interest. Min Yueqing only reminded them, "The carriage can be quite bumpy sometimes, so be careful," and then let them play.

Min Yueqing leaned against a soft pillow, half-lying down, idly stroking Xiao Wei, and soon dozed off.

Xiao Wei felt very comfortable being touched by Min Yueqing, and fell asleep even earlier than Min Yueqing, though his eyes were half-closed and not completely shut.

As darkness fell, the troops stopped. Some soldiers skillfully set up tents, while others began to cook.

Pei Han specially drove his horse to the carriage and said to Min Yueqing, "Madam, the tent will be set up soon. Please sit in the carriage for a while and get off when it's all set up."

Min Yueqing, who was moving her slightly numb hands and feet, replied, "Okay."

Upon hearing that they were about to get off the bus, Pei Ji and Shi Tou quickly gathered the building blocks scattered on the table back into the box.

Stone spent the afternoon building with blocks, finding it more and more interesting. Still wanting more, he said to Pei Ji, "This is so much fun! Let's continue building tomorrow?"

Pei Ji readily agreed, "Yes!"

In this long line, little Pei Ji was the first to eat dinner.

Because Amei had cooked a pot of rice porridge on the small stove that afternoon, and by this time the porridge was very soft and tender, just right for Pei Ji, who had just lost a front tooth.
