Min Yueqing was both amused and exasperated by the woman's gaze; her eager look made it seem as if she were looking at some great hero.
Min Yueqing grabbed one end of the blanket and dragged it off the bed with a dull thud. If Min Yueqing hadn't silenced him beforehand, Feng Ruichuan would probably have screamed in agony again.
Seeing this, the young woman standing nearby seemed to finally believe something, or perhaps she panicked when she saw Min Yueqing about to leave, and weakly called out, "Please wait!"
Before she finished speaking, the woman ran towards Min Yueqing in three quick steps.
Fortunately, Min Yueqing stopped when she heard her shout, otherwise this woman probably wouldn't have been able to catch up even if she rode a horse.
As soon as the woman reached Min Yueqing, she knelt down and pleaded, crying, "My benefactor, could you take me with you? I was forced into this mansion by Feng Ruichuan, and I am living a life worse than death here!"
Seeing her crying with tears streaming down her face, as if she had finally found an opportunity to vent all the grievances that had been bottled up in her heart for so long, Min Yueqing couldn't help but feel sorry for her. "Don't cry, come with me."
Upon hearing this, the woman immediately wiped her face haphazardly with her sleeve and followed Min Yueqing out the door.
Once outside the room and at the carriage, Min Yueqing grabbed the rolled-up quilt that was dragging on the ground, threw it onto the carriage, and then jumped on herself. Turning around, she saw the young woman following behind her looking at the slightly tall carriage frame with a troubled expression.
Min Yueqing reached out her hand, and the woman immediately took one hand and climbed up. Just as she was about to use the hand to climb up, she suddenly felt her body lighten and she was on the carriage.
The woman's gaze towards Min Yueqing became even more fervent. If she had only been surprised a moment ago, now it was filled with admiration and reverence. Her face flushed red, and she stammered, "Thank you... thank you, benefactor. I will never forget your great kindness!"
Min Yueqing sat in front of the carriage, pulling on the reins as she asked, "Do you know the way out of the manor?"
The woman immediately replied, "I know, we're closer to the back gate, and there are fewer people there." As she spoke, she consciously sat down to the side and behind Min Yueqing and gave her directions.
Min Yueqing originally thought she would have to take down two more people before leaving, but to her surprise, the gatekeeper opened the back door eagerly as soon as he saw the carriage approaching from a distance, without even seeing the driver clearly.
Upon seeing this, Min Yueqing naturally accepted the good intention and quickly drove the carriage out the door. By the time the servant realized that the driver was a woman and tried to stop them, it was already too late, and he could only watch helplessly as they left the mansion.
The gatekeeper knew something was wrong; this carriage was most likely related to the young master. He quickly scrambled towards the inner courtyard.
After leaving the Feng residence, the woman learned that Min Yueqing was going to the county government office, so she took the initiative to act as her guide for the second time, which saved Min Yueqing some time.
Min Yueqing then asked, "What's your name?"
“My benefactor, my name is Yan Hong.”
"Where are you from? How did you end up being forced into the Feng residence by Feng Ruichuan?"
Upon hearing this question, Yan Hong's eyes welled up with tears again.
“I’m from Tongcheng, and my home is in the west of Tongcheng. Three years ago, I accompanied my mother to the clinic for a medical treatment. On our way home, Feng Ruichuan saw us for some reason. My mother and I didn’t know him at all, but he came up to us with a grin and said a lot of strange things. In the end, he insisted on taking my mother and me home. We said no, but he acted as if he didn’t hear us. He and a few other people pushed us into the carriage.”
"After we arrived at my house, he didn't get out of the car and just let us go back. I thought that was the end of it, but a few days later, the Feng family sent a few servants to our door. The servants entered the door and, without saying a word, threw down a few bolts of cloth and tried to take me away, saying that their young master had taken a fancy to me and wanted to take me as a concubine."
At this point, Yan Hong burst into tears again, choking as she continued, "My parents and brothers all tried to stop them from taking me away, but these servants were all extremely rude. Without saying a word, they beat up my family and even took the opportunity to tie me up on the carriage."
The more Min Yueqing listened, the colder her eyes became. This Feng Ruichuan was no longer just morally corrupt; he was simply taking advantage of his family's connections to do whatever he wanted, showing no regard for ordinary people.
Min Yueqing said coldly, "Don't worry, this kind of scum will not escape the punishment of the law. When you get to the yamen, just tell the truth and someone will uphold justice for you."
Yan Hong, thinking about what she had experienced over the past three years, burst into tears. Even if there was only the slightest chance, she would try her best to seize it. She nodded immediately.
"Don't worry, my benefactor, I'm telling the truth. There are several others like me in the Feng family's backyard. If they knew there was a chance to escape that hellhole, they would definitely stand up for it too."
Min Yueqing silently made a mental note of the fact that the Feng family had such a victim.
Upon arriving at the county government office, Min Yueqing glanced around the entrance. Thankfully, the little one hadn't arrived yet, and Min Yueqing unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
To some extent, Min Yueqing was still afraid of the little boy, mainly because she was afraid of seeing his pitiful little eyes.
Whenever she was looked at by that gaze, Min Yueqing immediately felt her aura diminished, and even had the illusion that she was guilty of a heinous crime.
Min Yueqing set a two-quarters-hour time limit before leaving because she thought that someone like Feng Ruichuan wouldn't take much time. However, she didn't expect that going around to Feng's residence and wasting some time on the way would give her a taste of what it's like to rush.
Whether it's true or not, people can't help but think about their little one. Min Yueqing was thinking about the baby when she heard a soft, sweet voice calling from not far away beside her.
"Mother!"
Min Yueqing broke out in a cold sweat, inwardly thinking, "That was close."
Pei Ji clung to the carriage window, her little head peeking out, her bright eyes fixed on Min Yueqing. As the carriage drew closer, Pei Ji burst out of the carriage like a small cannonball.
What else could Min Yueqing do but obediently walk to her own carriage and steadily catch the little baby with both hands.
As soon as she picked up the little one, Min Yueqing felt a pair of soft arms wrap around her neck, and then the little one's soft little face pressed against hers.
"Mommy, you really didn't lie to me! I saw you as soon as I got to the county office!" the little boy exclaimed excitedly.
Min Yueqing unconsciously broke out in a cold sweat again, thinking to herself that next time she encountered something like this, she couldn't set such a strict time limit. She held the little one for a while and then explained, "Lele, I need to go into the yamen to take care of some things. Can you stay with Amei for a while?"
Pei Ji hugged Min Yueqing's neck tightly, silently expressing his unwillingness. His mother had already abandoned him once, and she absolutely could not abandon him a second time.
