Chapter 90 Lying in Bed

When traveling, tables are a real necessity, so everyone moved a few small coffee tables off the car, which was better than nothing.

Min Yueqing and Pei Ji's bowls of noodles were naturally placed on the small table, and Amei also put two cushions on the ground for them to sit on.

Stone was already slurping down his food from a large bowl. He didn't need a table; he just sat on the ground. There was a layer of grass on the ground, which had been dried by the daytime sun and was very comfortable to sit on.

The rest of the men, like Shi Tou, sat around the fire, wolfing down their food. Everyone agreed that this bowl of hot noodle soup was the best they had ever eaten.

Seeing this, Min Yueqing couldn't help but worry that they wouldn't have enough to eat, and hurriedly asked Azhu, "Is there enough noodles? Is there any more in the pot?"

Ah Zhu thought to herself that there couldn't possibly be not enough food. They had specially prepared double the amount. After the staff served it once, they added the other half of the ingredients that had been prepared in advance, and also added more noodle soup, which meant that they had made two large pots full.

However, to put An Min Yueqing's mind at ease, she glanced at the pot before putting it back in the pot, and then replied with a smile, "Don't worry, Miss, there's enough to eat. We made extra, and there's still half left in the pot."

Min Yueqing nodded approvingly.

Pei Ji was the most amusing. He tasted the noodles and found them to be just average, not as good as the ones in the manor. However, everyone around him seemed to think they were delicious, which made him think he was mistaken. He ate a couple more bites, but the taste in his mouth was still the same.

He whispered in Min Yueqing's ear, "Mother, do you think it tastes good?"

Min Yueqing, being an honest person, quietly replied to the little one, "It's alright."

This place is not as convenient as a real kitchen, and the only tool available is a large soup pot. Since such a large quantity is being made at once, it's impossible to say that it's particularly delicious.

However, eating together, especially sitting outdoors, has a unique charm that is completely different from eating in restaurants and hotels.

Pei Ji understood Min Yueqing's implication and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that his mother felt the same way.

After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, the last rays of the sunset faded away.

The workers conscientiously collected all the bowls, chopsticks, and soup pots, preparing to take them to the river to wash them. Seeing that they were about to leave, Min Yueqing suddenly remembered something and quickly called Amei over.

"I told them that they must not drink unboiled water. When the water in their water bags was gone, they should bring back a pot of water, boil it, and then drink it."

Although the river water here is relatively clear, it is still in the wild. They have no idea where the river flows or whether there are bacteria in it. To be on the safe side, it is best to boil it before drinking.

Amei was also looking for Laifu, hoping they could help her fetch more water and boil some hot water for everyone to take a bath, since it was so cold now and taking a cold shower wouldn't be appropriate.

Upon hearing Min Yueqing's words, he immediately agreed.

Later that evening, the men returned with plenty of water. Seeing that one fire was too slow and that they were full of energy after eating, they simply went and gathered some more firewood to build two more fires.

With three pots boiling at the same time, everyone soon had hot water and went to wash themselves.

Min Yueqing also brought the little one into the tent. The little one was weak, so even though there was a felt blanket to cover him, Min Yueqing didn't dare to give him a bath. She just wiped his head, face, hands and feet, took off his dusty outer clothes, and stuffed the little one, who was only wearing a thin inner garment, into the quilt.

Pei Ji looked at the felt cloth above his head, and then at the somewhat empty surroundings. He felt that everything was very new and exciting. Lying on the mat was a completely different feeling from lying in bed at home.

Pei Ji looked around excitedly, then rolled around in the blankets a couple of times.

After tidying up, Min Yueqing walked over to the little boy and saw that his cheeks were all pink from rolling around in the dirt. She smiled and reached out to pinch his cheeks.

Pei Ji took the opportunity to hug Min Yueqing's hand, "Mommy, we're sleeping in the mountains! There are mountains and grasslands outside, it's so much fun!"

Min Yueqing couldn't help but chuckle upon hearing this. Indeed, even geniuses are just like children. When they see new things and experience things they've never had before, they feel the same excitement and curiosity.

Min Yueqing lay down next to the little one, held him in her arms, and tucked the blanket back in. "Having fun, huh? We might encounter many more fun things along the way. Lele, go to sleep and get some rest. We'll continue our journey tomorrow."

Pei Ji's eyes lit up, and he loudly replied, "Yes!"

The little one's body was warm and cozy, and Min Yueqing felt as if she were holding a giant hand warmer. This hand warmer might have come to life, as it would softly press against her and its little hands would skillfully rest on her waist.

Min Yueqing kissed the little one's smooth forehead, and the little one happily squinted his eyes, buried his head in her shoulder, and soon fell asleep.

As the night wore on, the chill grew stronger. Despite being covered with thick blankets, Min Yueqing still held the little one tightly, afraid that any draft might get in.

On the other side of the tent, Amei and Azhu had also unconsciously huddled together. When people feel cold, they will unconsciously move closer to the heat source.

Stone, sleeping soundly beside them, was young and strong. He had been eating and drinking well and getting plenty of nutrition for the past six months, so he was in excellent health. Min Yueqing was worried that he might get cold sleeping alone, so she specifically asked Amei to bring him an extra blanket. He slept soundly until dawn.

The next morning, the rising sun shone on the two tents, and the soft sunlight made everyone feel warm and cozy. Even the little one was unusually reluctant to get out of bed.

Pei Ji was half asleep when he vaguely heard footsteps not far away. Subconsciously, he knew it must be dawn, but he lazily lay on Min Yueqing and refused to open his eyes.

Min Yueqing didn't care. After all, their journey wouldn't be over in just a few days. She was happy to discover the little one's adorable hidden traits.

It wasn't until the sun was high in the sky that Pei Ji finally got enough sleep. He slowly opened his eyes, and before he was fully awake, he instinctively snuggled into the warm embrace, letting out a soft, sweet call.

"Yes, Mother."

Min Yueqing looked at the sleepy little one with great interest and asked softly, "Did you sleep well? Do you want to get up?"

Pei Ji answered her question with his actions; he sat up and his eyes gradually cleared.

Amei had already prepared two sets of clean clothes and placed them on the side. Min Yueqing dressed herself first, and then took the little baby out to put on clothes and shoes.

Hearing the noise from inside the tent, Ah Zhu knew that the young lady had gotten up, so she brought in hot water to help them wash up.

While wiping her face, Min Yueqing asked, "Have you all eaten?"

She had told Amei and the other woman early in the morning that they didn't need to wait for them to get up; they could start cooking as soon as the other staff woke up, and then let them eat first.

A-Zhu replied, "We've already eaten. We prepared yours and the young master's in advance, and it's still warming on the fire. A-Mei will bring it in soon."
