Chapter 91 Small Village

After having breakfast, Min Yueqing and the little one left the tent.

As soon as the felt cloth was lifted, the bright sunlight shone on their faces. What came into view was a tall tree. Because it was almost winter, the leaves were no longer green, but yellow, hanging sparsely on the branches, and a large layer of fallen leaves had accumulated on the ground.

The guys have almost finished packing up the things they took out last night, and are now dismantling the tents where Min Yueqing and the others are staying.

Pei Ji looked at the woods in front of him, his eyes full of eagerness. He tugged at Min Yueqing's hand and said, "Mother, let's go for a walk in the woods."

Min Yueqing was pulled forward by the little boy. The two of them stepped on the withered yellow leaves, making a crunching sound. The wind rustled the remaining leaves on the trees, and the clear chirping of birds could be heard from time to time. It was indeed very pleasant.

Shi Tou was outside helping to pack things when he saw Min Yueqing and Pei Ji taking a walk in the woods. He put his things into the carriage and quickly chased after them.

"Master!"

Upon hearing the voice, Min Yueqing stopped and turned around to wave at him.

When Shi Tou ran up to her, Min Yueqing saw that there was a layer of fine sweat on his forehead. She knew that he must have been helping with the work. She took out a handkerchief and handed it to him, saying, "Wipe your sweat. It's windy in the woods. It's no fun if you catch a cold."

Stone obediently agreed, took the handkerchief, and carefully wiped away his sweat.

The three of them wandered around in the woods, and when they returned, they had packed up their belongings and extinguished the fire with water. They then continued on their journey.

This section of the road was a mountain road, and the ride was quite bumpy. Seeing that Pei Ji was still engrossed in reading, Min Yueqing reminded him, "Lele, this road is too bumpy. Reading here will damage your eyes."

Pei Ji reluctantly looked up from the book and gazed longingly at Min Yueqing.

For the first time, Min Yueqing felt the trouble of her child being too eager to learn. Unable to bear seeing the little one disappointed, she turned to Amei and said, "Bring out the chessboard."

Amei kept all these frequently used items in a box in the carriage for easy access. Upon hearing Min Yueqing's words, Amei immediately opened the box and found the chessboard.

Min Yueqing took the chessboard and placed it on the tea table in the center of the couch. She said to the little boy, "Let me teach you how to play Go."

Before the apocalypse, Go was one of Min Yueqing's great hobbies.

From the first time she was introduced to Go at the Children's Palace, she developed a strong interest in it, and her parents even found her a professional Go teacher.

On her teacher's recommendation, she began to participate in Go competitions and even won a provincial championship. If it weren't for the sudden arrival of the apocalypse, Min Yueqing felt that she might have become a professional Go player.

It just so happens that the original owner was also a talented woman, known for her mastery of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. So when she suggested playing Go, it wasn't abrupt at all. Even if her Go skills were outstanding, no one would find it strange.

Pei Ji had only ever watched his parents play chess. Before that, he was too young, and neither Pei Han nor the original owner of this body had ever thought of teaching their son to play chess. They originally planned to teach him when he was older. Who knew that Pei Han would suddenly be sent away to another region, and then all those unpleasant things happened.

Upon hearing Min Yueqing say that he would teach him to play chess, Pei Ji was naturally in high spirits and readily agreed.

The first few games were teaching games. Although it was Min Yueqing's first time teaching someone to play Go, she didn't feel impatient at all because the little one was really a good student.

He could remember every rule that Min Yueqing had mentioned and recite it fluently the next time she brought it up, without her ever having to repeat it. In practice, he was even more adept at applying what he had learned to other situations, demonstrating exceptional comprehension.

After the gameplay and rules were explained, the two began a real-game match.

At first, it was obvious that the little one was still quite inexperienced and its methods were rather simple. However, after making a few mistakes, the little one quickly learned its lesson and consciously avoided the traps it had previously encountered.

Of course, Pei Ji was a beginner after all. The reason he was able to go through several rounds with Min Yueqing was entirely because Min Yueqing was deliberately holding back.

If he didn't do it this way, Pei Ji wouldn't be able to experience the joy of Go.

With Min Yueqing's deliberate leniency and subtle guidance, Pei Ji quickly became fascinated with this new sport. When Amei came to invite him to dinner, Pei Ji realized that the carriage had already stopped.

To save time, the group ate simply heated dry rations. After a short rest, they continued their journey.

The carriage traveled until evening, and just when everyone thought they would have to sleep in the wild again, Uncle Zhao's loud voice rang out.

"Madam, there seems to be a small village at the foot of the mountain ahead!"

Shi Tou quickly lifted the carriage curtain, and Min Yueqing looked out. Sure enough, she saw many houses in the distance. It was dinnertime, and wisps of smoke were rising from the kitchens of every household.

As the carriage approached, the sound of children's laughter reached Pei Ji's ears.

Pei Ji curiously lifted the curtain by the car window and saw a group of children playing and laughing in an open space not far away. The children were of different ages and were playing some kind of game, forming a circle.

Suddenly, a discordant curse rang out.

"Liu Xiaoliu, get out of here! We don't want to play with you! Why do you always dress like this, with your butt sticking out?"

As soon as the loud voice rang out, the surrounding children burst into laughter, pointing at the center and teasing the child in the middle with their own words.

Pei Ji clearly saw the children on the ground in the middle crying, wiping away their tears with both hands. He was furious, feeling that these children were bullying the weak and were not acting in a fair and honest way.

Just as Pei Ji got off the couch and was about to pull Min Yueqing off the carriage, another change occurred in the open space.

Another child ran quickly towards the open space, shouting as he ran, "Don't bully my little brother! You bunch of bad guys, let him go!"

The child who had just been yelling said smugly, "Who caught him? He just wanted to sit on the ground and cry. What does it have to do with us? Liu Xiaowu, stop trying to be a liar!"

He was making faces as he spoke.

Liu Xiaowu had already run up to the man and was furious when he heard what he said. "Liu Dashan, it was clearly you who surrounded my brother and wouldn't let him out, and you even laughed at him, that's why he cried. I heard everything, and you're still trying to deny it. You shameless bastard!"

Pei Ji heard it clearly and then realized that the child who had just started cursing was named Liu Dashan.

The carriage pulled up beside the children, and Pei Ji pulled Min Yueqing to the carriage door. Min Yueqing called out, "Uncle Zhao, stop for a moment."

Uncle Zhao let out a long "whoosh" and stopped the carriage on the spot.

The children's attention was immediately drawn to the sound. When they saw so many carriages in front of them, all the children opened their mouths wide and stared blankly in the direction of the carriages.
