Chapter 98 Ma Liuan

Min Yueqing walked over to the middle-aged man, placed Pei Ji on a stool, and said briefly, "Give me the child first. I have studied medicine!"

The middle-aged man was so frightened by the child that he was completely disoriented. Just as he was about to take the child out to find a doctor, he suddenly heard someone say the word "doctor" in his ear. Before he could react, his daughter was taken away from him.

He looked to the side in astonishment and saw his daughter in the arms of a strange young woman, who was clearly struggling to breathe.

The middle-aged man instinctively wanted to snatch his daughter back, but then he heard a child's innocent voice beside him, "My mother said she knows medicine, wait a moment." Immediately afterward, his hand was grabbed by a teenager.

The middle-aged man looked down in bewilderment and saw a richly dressed little boy sitting at the table.

The little boy had somehow ended up at their table, and was now looking at them intently. It seemed that the words they had just heard were spoken by this child.

Pei Ji believed Min Yueqing's words without a doubt. Since his mother said that she had studied medicine, she must really know how to treat patients. Therefore, he firmly stopped the stranger's actions.

Distracted by the two children, the middle-aged man finally regained some of his composure.

The daughter was struggling to breathe. The clinic was so far away that even if we carried her out, we might not make it in time. We might as well see if this woman could be treated.

Min Yueqing snatched the little girl away and realized that the little girl was almost suffocating. The situation was urgent, so she immediately used the Heimlich maneuver.

Min Yueqing held the little girl in her arms from behind, hugged her abdomen, made a fist with one hand and pressed it inward between her navel and ribs, while covering the fist with her other hand. She quickly and forcefully squeezed inward and upward with both hands, repeating this several times until the little girl finally vomited something out of her mouth.

It turned out to be a tiny peanut.

A large crowd had gathered around them, and even the shop owner and his wife rushed over anxiously, standing nervously by. When the little girl finally vomited out what was choking her, everyone in the crowd breathed a sigh of relief.

The middle-aged man's legs went weak, and he was about to kneel down and kowtow to Min Yueqing on the spot. His maids and servants also followed behind him, preparing to kneel down as well.

This youngest daughter was the apple of their family's eye. From their great-grandparents and middle grandparents to him and his wife, everyone doted on this only girl in the fourth generation.

If he hadn't been out running errands today and his daughter hadn't insisted on coming along, his family wouldn't have allowed him to take her out at all. If something had happened to her here, he would have been devastated.

The maids and servants who had come with him were so anxious they were on the verge of tears. If something happened to the young lady right under their noses, they would all be punished.

The foreign object stuck in her trachea was expelled, and the little girl's complexion gradually returned to normal. Just as Min Yueqing was about to put the child on the ground, she saw the middle-aged man and several people about to kneel down before her, so she quickly signaled Shi Tou to stop him.

Stone, who was already standing next to the middle-aged man, immediately supported him with both hands after receiving his master's instruction, and said loudly, "Our lady doesn't like this, so none of you should kneel!"

He only had one person and two hands, enough to support this person, but not the people behind them, so he could only shout at them.

Seeing that Min Yueqing truly disliked this arrangement, the middle-aged man quickly stopped the maids and servants in his household. He then said to Min Yueqing with a grateful expression, "You saved my daughter, so you are a great benefactor to our whole family. Please do us the honor of having a meal at our humble abode so that I can express my gratitude in a small way."

Min Yueqing returned the child to him, casually waved her hand, and politely declined, saying, "There's no need for that. The fact that we met your daughter here is probably a sign from heaven that she will safely overcome this crisis. You shouldn't worry about it too much."

He then picked up Pei Ji and returned to his own table.

The middle-aged man, carrying the child, followed and respectfully advised, "My name is Ma Liuan. My home is not far from here, just two streets away. If you don't let us do something for you, how can we repay your great kindness? If my family finds out that I am so ungrateful, they probably won't even let me into their house."

Min Yueqing looked helpless, knowing she couldn't eat breakfast, and could only walk towards the door.

Seeing that his benefactor was not only unmoved but also walked away, Ma Liuan stood there pondering for a long time, unable to figure out what he had said wrong.

Seeing that his master was about to leave, Shi Tou glanced reluctantly at the unfinished noodles before hanging his head and going to the proprietress to pay the bill.

To his surprise, the proprietress refused to pay him when she saw him. Not only did she refuse to take his money, she also firmly pressed his hand down with her large hand and said cheerfully, "Oh dear, you've been a great help today. How could I possibly charge you for this little bit? Child, if there's anything else you want to eat, just tell me, and I'll pack it up for you to take home!"

Stone was dumbfounded. Seeing that the proprietress was really going to pretend to eat, he quickly pulled his hand away and ran away.

"Master, the landlady refused to take our money and even offered to give us food for free." Shi Tou ran back to Min Yueqing, panting, still finding it unbelievable as he recounted what had just happened.

Pei Ji was also puzzled and asked Shi Tou, "Why is that?"

Stone was still clutching the purse he was about to use to pay. His expression was complicated, a mix of surprise and pride. Finally, he replied, "She said we were a great help. Maybe she was moved by Master's supernatural powers?"

Pei Ji thought about it for a moment and felt that it made sense, so he agreed, "That's possible."

Ma Liuan ran over again, calling out as he ran, "My benefactor, take care!"

Ma Liuan thought for a long time but couldn't figure out which sentence he had said wrong. However, he knew he couldn't let his benefactor leave like that, so he hurriedly caught up with him.

"My benefactor, please let me express my gratitude for my daughter's sake." Ma Liuan shook his daughter in his arms and said sincerely, "My daughter's name is Ma Junyin. She was saved by your miraculous help. You see, she is also very reluctant to leave you. She has been staring at you ever since the beginning!"

Pei Ji realized that Ma Liuan wasn't lying; the little girl was indeed staring at Min Yueqing. She exclaimed in surprise, "Mother, she's really looking at you."

Min Yueqing looked at the little girl and immediately met a pair of round eyes that were staring intently at her.

She was so focused on saving people that she hadn't really seen the little girl's face clearly. Only now did she take a good look at little Ma Junyin and realize that the little girl not only had round eyes, but also a round, chubby face, which made her look really cute.
