"Friends? Is this your condition for helping me buy grain?"
When Mu Jin asked Su Yi what the conditions were for helping her buy grain, Su Yi's answer was that Mu Jin had to treat him as a friend. She even doubted whether she had misheard.
"Ah Jin, you heard me right. I hope to become Ah Jin's friend. After all, friends help each other."
“But King Yi has no shortage of friends. How can I, a woman, be King Yi’s friend?”
"I am not lacking in friends, but I lack friends like Ah Jin. And who told you that women cannot be my friends?"
"Doesn't the book say that men and women should not touch each other?"
"Then about buying grain..." Su Yi said, drawing out his words.
“It must be all nonsense in the book,” Mu Jin said immediately, afraid that if she was too late, Su Yi really wouldn’t help her buy the grain.
Su Yi said with a grin, "So, Ah Jin has agreed to be friends with me?"
Mu Jin glanced at Su Yi, reflecting on the time she had known him. Aside from the unpleasantness of their first meeting, she had to admit that, apart from being a bit sarcastic and having the surname Su, Su Yi had never actually harmed her.
Moreover, Su Yi has shown no ill will towards her or the General's Mansion during this period, whether it was disaster relief or helping to capture assassins. If she can also help her father purchase grain this time, she can let go of this personal grudge.
Su Yi couldn't help but find it amusing to see Mu Jin's furrowed brows, her expression shifting between confusion and relief.
Su Yi's smile snapped Mu Jin out of her reverie. She glanced at Su Yi's smug grin, then turned back to stare at the bowl of bird's nest porridge he had served her, resignedly nodding and replying, "Mmm~"
Su Yi smiled and said, "So, how does Ah Jin plan to treat our pure friendship from now on?"
Pure friendship? Mu Jin had no real friends in the real world or in this Eastern Yue Kingdom, so maintaining friendships with her friends was a bit of a dilemma for her.
Mu Jin was a little embarrassed: "I've never made friends before, and I don't know how friends get along."
Su Yi was taken aback, then smiled and said, "It would be my honor to become A Jin's first friend. From now on, we will share happiness and hardship."
"That's it?" Mu Jin asked.
“That’s it!” Su Yi replied.
Mu Jin tilted her head and looked at Su Yi, a slight smile playing on her lips, but secretly thought to herself, this deal seems to be a good one.
In the No. 1 private room of Shidinglou Restaurant, Li Yansong was sitting anxiously waiting for someone.
Suddenly, a stinging sound rang out. Li Yansong stood up and quickly walked to the door. He opened the door with high hopes, only to find that only his advisor, Zhang Chao, was standing outside.
Li Yansong stepped out of the room, glanced outside, and noticed that no one was following Zhang Chao. He turned back to Zhang Chao, frowned, and asked, "What's wrong? Didn't the master agree to come with you?"
Zhang Chao shook his head at Li Yansong, looking dejected.
Li Yansong looked at Zhang Chao and shook his head, then returned to his room with a disappointed expression. Zhang Chao followed him and closed the door. Li Yansong turned around and asked Zhang Chao, "Did you present my visiting card?"
Zhang Chao nodded: "As soon as I handed over the visiting card, the gatekeeper seemed to have been prepared. He only glanced at it before throwing the card on the ground, saying that his master did not know any Prefect Li and that he should not try to establish connections in the future, lest he harm himself and others."
"Harm others and yourself?" After repeating the words "harm others and yourself" several times, Li Yansong seemed to realize something, took two steps back, his legs went weak, and he slumped into the chair.
"My lord!" Zhang Chao glanced at Li Yansong's utterly despondent expression and rushed forward to support him anxiously.
"The government hasn't even done anything to me yet, and they've already made plans to discard me after I've served my purpose?" Li Yansong muttered to himself.
"Sir, please cheer up and think of a solution. We provide them with a large sum of money every month, so they won't abandon us," Zhang Chao said anxiously.
Li Yansong snorted coldly: "Don't be naive. Even without me, there are others. Countless people are rushing to make money for them and have to be mindful of their feelings. What are we compared to them?"
Zhang Chao was filled with fear and anxiously asked, "Then what should we do next?"
"We have plenty of money now, and we don't necessarily have to stay in Dongyue Kingdom to find a way out. Have you put away those account books?"
Zhang Chao said, "I have put everything away and made two copies. One copy is to carry with me, and the other copy is to be placed in my outer room."
Li Yansong felt a little relieved: "They've all been put away. If that day ever comes and they decide to discard us after we've served our purpose, then don't blame me for turning against them ruthlessly and fighting to the death!"
“I understand.”
Li Yansong stood up and walked to the window. This Shidinglou restaurant was located in the best area of the capital. Looking out the window, one could see the bustling streets and crowds of the capital.
He booked the No. 1 private room today to entertain the important person above him. He ordered the signature dishes of Shidinglou Restaurant, which cost him more than ten years' salary. He couldn't help but think to himself, as long as you have money, you can be a superior person anywhere.
Li Yansong turned to Zhang Chao and said, "We'll go back to the inn to pack our things later, and we'll leave the city as soon as it gets dark."
Zhang Chao, however, was somewhat worried: "But I feel that Zhao Wude doesn't believe what you say, sir. I'm afraid he has already sent people from the yamen to follow us."
Li Yansong sneered: "Then let's have them cut off all their tails so they can get on their way quickly."
The carriage Su Yi was riding in today appeared surprisingly understated from the outside compared to the past; it was about the size of a carriage used by a wealthy family. However, once inside, it was still incredibly luxurious.
Mu Jin leaned back in the soft cushions of the carriage and looked at Su Yi opposite her, asking, "Where are we going?"
