Chapter 131 River Lantern Festival (Part 1)

At the Prince Yi's residence, Ling Feng had just returned from delivering refreshments to Mu Jin at the General's mansion and was reporting to Su Yi in the study.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, Qing'er said that the pastries you had the chef from Guangxin made were just what Miss Mu wanted, and Miss Mu even asked Qing'er to thank you on her behalf."

Su Yi remained silent for a moment before softly humming in agreement and dismissing Ling Feng.

Ling Feng looked up and saw Su Yi sitting at his desk with a book in his hand. After listening to his report, Su Yi's handsome face remained expressionless, as if he had no interest in what he had reported.

Ling Feng was puzzled, because in the past few days since he returned from the General's Mansion, Su Yi had asked him the most questions.

"Did you eat well, Ah Jin?" "Did Ah Jin thank me?" "Did Ah Jin ask Qing'er to convey any message to me?"

Each time Ling Feng received a negative response, he could clearly see Su Yi's expression go through a transformation from expectation to disappointment.

That's why he insisted on letting Qing'er go in and inform Mu Jin today, determined to send a message to his master no matter what.

But why is it that today, after finally getting a word out of Miss Mu, my master didn't react at all?

Ling Feng thought this, but didn't show it on his face. However, what he didn't know was that when he turned to leave, Su Yi's upturned lips clearly revealed his undisguised joy.

After finishing his dinner, Su Yi headed towards the garden of the Prince's mansion. As he walked past the artificial hill, he overheard two servants chatting idly while they were cleaning.

One of them said, "Today is the River Lantern Festival. The streets must be very lively tonight. Why don't you come with me to take a look?"

The other person replied, "What's the point of going with you? This River Lantern Festival is mostly just a pretext for unmarried men and women to have secret rendezvous. As a bachelor for a thousand years, I'd better stay in the palace and do my duty."

"That's not quite true. On days like these, many unmarried young women go out together. Who knows, you and I might even have a romantic encounter with a beautiful young woman and travel together?"

"That's not right. A respectable woman wouldn't easily go out with a strange man. You go ahead, I won't go."

Cough~

The two people who were chatting turned around when they heard the cough and saw that it was Su Yi. They quickly bowed to Su Yi.

"King Yi~"

Su Yi glanced at the two of them and slowly asked, "Is today the River Lantern Festival?"

The two quickly replied in unison, "Yes, King Yi."

Do women all like these kinds of festivals?

The two servants were taken aback when Su Yi asked the question. They never expected that the usually stern and unsmiling prince would ask whether a woman would like him.

Seeing that the two were looking at each other without answering immediately, Su Yi took the initiative to ask.

"I've never been there before. I wonder how this River Lantern Festival differs from other festivals?"

Seeing that Su Yi seemed interested in the River Lantern Festival, one of them quickly reported back to Su Yi.

The River Lantern Festival is a traditional festival of the Dongyue Kingdom. Legend has it that on the spring equinox, the founding king of the Dongyue Kingdom crossed the moat of the capital city, killed the tyrannical king of the previous dynasty, and successfully seized the world.

To celebrate this victory, the people decorated their homes with lanterns and held grand celebrations. Today, this traditional festival continues.

During the River Lantern Festival, the imperial court would release a large lantern into the moat of the capital city to pray for favorable weather and a good harvest for the people of the entire Dongyue Kingdom this year.

Every year on the night of the Spring Equinox, the people of Dongyue would leave their homes and stroll through the streets and alleys to enjoy the lanterns adorning the moat, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

This year's River Lantern Festival differs from previous years in that, due to the wars and plagues of recent years and the need for reconstruction, the imperial court, in order to stimulate consumption, encourages people to leave their homes and release their own lanterns to pray for their inner wishes.

So tonight, people from all over the country will make their own river lanterns and flood the streets. Just imagine how lively the scene will be.

Upon hearing this, Su Yi seemed to realize something, and a smile slowly spread across his lips. He came back to his senses and spoke to the two servants in front of him.

"Since today is the River Lantern Festival, you two don't need to take turns on duty. Go out and join the fun in the streets."

Upon hearing this, the two servants quickly thanked Su Yi, but Su Yi ignored their thanks and turned to walk briskly toward the gate of the Prince's Mansion.

When Su Yi arrived at the general's mansion, he originally intended to knock on the door before entering. However, he remembered that he had just promised Mu Jin that he would not see her for ten days, and only five days had passed. He was afraid that Mu Jin would use this as an excuse not to see him, so he decided to use his lightness skill to climb over the wall and enter.

Su Yi thought this and did just that. He used his lightness skill to leap up and quickly flew towards the roof of Qingwan Courtyard.

When Su Yi arrived at Qingwan Courtyard, he found the main room where Mu Jin was resting completely dark. Instead, he saw Mu Jin's maid Qing'er chatting with several other maids in the courtyard. On the table was a box of pastries, which he had Guangxin's chef carefully prepare for Mu Jin every day.

Qing'er sighed in the courtyard, "I miss Miss. I wonder if she's safe right now."

A maid comforted her, "Sister Qing'er, you don't need to worry. The eleventh guard is highly skilled in martial arts and will surely protect you, Miss."

Qing'er still had a worried look on her face, because Mu Jin had told her that the emperor would not allow her to leave the capital. This time, Mu Jin's departure from the capital was no different from fleeing, so how could she not be worried?

Thinking of this, Qing'er sighed again.

Several maids suddenly saw a person leaping down from the roof, heading straight towards them. Just as they were about to shout for help, they heard the person speak.
