Chapter 150 Silence

It wasn't until evening that Mu Jin gradually woke up in the bathtub.

Mu Jin raised her hand to rub her eyes and found that the bathwater beside her had already turned ice-cold. She picked up a cotton towel from beside the tub, slowly stood up, gently dried her body, and then stepped out of the tub.

Just then, the evening breeze blew into the room, instantly raising goosebumps on Mu Jin's exposed skin. She couldn't help but sneeze, then rubbed her arm and hurriedly went to the bed to find some clothes to put on.

Mu Jin walked to the window and looked at the scene outside. At this time, the sun was gradually setting in the west, and the sky was dyed a soft orange. The enthusiastic shouts of shopkeepers on both sides of the street, the cheerful bargaining of customers, and the laughter of children in the streets and alleys all came together.

Street vendors, armed with various tools for making a living, skillfully displayed their culinary techniques.

The air is filled with mouthwatering aromas; the steaming food, the golden and crispy fried dough sticks, and the fragrant and delicious pancakes all exude the essence of life.

Witnessing this scene, Mu Jin touched her stomach, and a feeling of hunger suddenly struck her.

Mu Jin turned around and walked straight to the door. She slowly opened the door and was about to step out when she suddenly realized that Nangong Min was standing in front of her door.

When Nangong Min saw Mu Jin open the door, he raised his eyes with some joy and stared straight at Mu Jin. However, as if he had thought of something, his joyful eyes dimmed again.

Seeing this, Mu Jin's heart tightened. She thought to herself, "Could it be that Nangong Min has been standing in front of his door all this time and never left?"

Nangong Min spoke first: "Ajin~"

Aside from calling Mu Jin's name, Nangong Min dared not utter another word, fearing that his words might displease Mu Jin.

At noon, he blocked Mu Jin's door. Mu Jin was angry. It was the first time Mu Jin had ever been angry with him. He felt inexplicably panicked. After Mu Jin closed the door, he stood at Mu Jin's door, afraid that Mu Jin would leave him behind in a fit of anger while he went back to his room.

He knew Mu Jin's abilities. In this vast world, if Mu Jin really intended not to see him again, he might never see Mu Jin again in his lifetime. Therefore, he dared not leave Mu Jin's guest room.

"Have you been standing here the whole time without ever leaving?" Mu Jin asked.

"Um!"

Hearing Mu Jin finally speak to him, Nangong Min nodded eagerly, his breathing somewhat disordered and his heartbeat quickening.

Mu Jin knew what he wanted to say, so she didn't urge him but waited quietly.

After a long while, Nangong Min finally said, "Ajin, I... I... can you let me in? I want to have a good talk with you."

Mu Jin seemed to smell the aroma of food emanating from the street food stalls again, but she also wanted to find out whether Nangong Min, who was usually obedient and docile in front of her and would blush if she spoke a few words to him, had been deceiving her all along.

Mu Jin turned aside to let Nangong Min into her guest room.

The two sat at the tea table in the guest room. Mu Jin poured Nangong Min a cup of tea and said, "What do you want to say? I'm listening."

Nangong Min pursed his lips and glanced at Mu Jin cautiously.

"Our Nangong Divine Sect has indeed formed a marriage alliance with the Miao Palace for hundreds of years. I have known since I was a child that Ling'er would exchange wedding invitations with me when I succeeded as sect leader, and we would get married in the near future."

At this point, Nangong Min glanced at Mu Jin's expressionless face and felt a pang of anxiety. He knew that the more Mu Jin pretended to be indifferent, the angrier she was.

Nangong Min hurriedly explained, "But since I met you, Ah Jin, I have come to understand the taste of love. I dare not hope for more. I only want to stay by your side for the rest of my life and be your bodyguard to protect you."

“I have no intention of returning to the Nangong Shenzong to inherit the position of sect leader. The person Miao Palace wants to marry is the sect leader of the Nangong Shenzong. As long as I am no longer the sect leader, then my marriage with Ling’er will not count.”

Mu Jin scoffed: "You've heard about it today too. Your cousin refused to marry for your sake and stayed in the Nangong Divine Sect with your grandmother, waiting for you to return. Can you bear to do that?"

“Ling’er… her.” Nangong Min sighed.

“Ling’er and I have always addressed each other as brother and sister. When I learned that she would one day become my wife, I was actually unwilling. How could my sister become my wife?”

“But my grandmother told me that it was a responsibility I had to shoulder as a member of the Nangong clan. If I had never met you, I might have resigned myself to my fate, married Miao Gong Ling Nu, and continued to shoulder the mission of the Nangong Divine Sect Master.”

"But Ah Jin, it's only after having you that I've realized that no one else matters. What do the affairs of this world have to do with me? There are so many disciples in the Nangong Divine Sect, why must I bear the burden?"

As Nangong Min spoke, he suppressed the uncontrollable trembling of his body.

"If I have to bear these responsibilities and lose you, I would rather die on that muddy road. I would rather you had never saved me." As Nangong Min spoke, two streams of tears fell down his cheeks.

“Since Ling’er and I didn’t exchange wedding invitations, then any marriage agreement is invalid. Ah Jin, you can’t abandon me because of this.”

"How about I go with you to Yanmen Pass to find General Mu right now? I won't go back to Nangong Shenzong. Let them pretend I'm dead."

Seeing Nangong Min like this, Mu Jin also felt bad. She knew that Nangong Min had no intention of returning to Nangong Shenzong.

If it weren't for Nangong Ce's aggressive behavior, he would probably have remained anonymous, staying by her side as an inconspicuous little guard.

Thinking of this, Mu Jin sighed and said slowly.
