Even after Mu Jin had finished her dinner, Nangong Min still hadn't appeared in Mu Jin's courtyard.
Mu Jin thought to herself that perhaps Nangong Min and his grandson had been separated for a long time and had a lot to say, so they didn't have time to visit her today.
So Mu Jin took a bath and went to bed early. However, she tossed and turned for a long time before finally falling asleep.
In the middle of the night, for some reason, Mu Jin suddenly woke up.
She opened her eyes, turned her head, and saw that the window was slightly ajar, letting in a gentle breeze.
Just as she closed her eyes, intending to continue sleeping, she saw someone sitting at the foot of the bed. She was startled at first, then realized what was happening and quickly sat up.
Who?
"Ah Jin, it's me!"
Hearing that it was Nangong Min's voice, Mu Jin's heart, which had just been in her throat, slowly calmed down.
Mu Jin said gently, "Why are you here at this hour? Is there something you need?"
After Mu Jin finished speaking, she was about to get out of bed to light the lamp, but Nangong Min stopped her: "A Jin, don't light the lamp."
After Nangong Min finished speaking, he moved closer to Mu Jin and hugged her tightly. A moment later, wet, cool tears streamed down Nangong Min's cheeks.
Mu Jin didn't move; she simply nestled silently in Nangong Min's arms.
Nangong Min said, "My grandmother wants me to take over as sect leader in three days. I may not be able to refuse."
Mu Jin said, "I understand, I don't blame you."
Nangong Min asked, "Ajin, will you leave me because of this?"
Mu Jin remained silent.
Nangong Min hadn't heard Mu Jin reply for a long time, so he hugged Mu Jin even tighter.
"Ah Jin, please tell me, you won't leave me because of this, okay?"
After listening, Mu Jin sighed: "Your grandmother not only wants you to inherit the position of sect leader in three days, but also wants you to marry Bai Ling'er. Is that true?"
Upon hearing Mu Jin's words, Nangong Min's body stiffened involuntarily. Mu Jin knew from his reaction that what Su Yi had told her that afternoon was true.
Mu Jin gently pushed Nangong Min away and said softly, "You know I won't share a husband with anyone, and I won't change my principles for anyone."
"Min, since you've chosen to stay, let's part ways."
Upon hearing Mu Jin's resolute words, Nangong Min trembled slightly, staring at Mu Jin and shaking his head.
"Ah Jin, don't say these things to me, I can't bear it. Wait for me a little longer, I'll think of a way. In short, I will never leave you, nor will I marry Ling'er."
"Wait for me, there will always be a way. Whether Grandma agrees or not, I want to be with you!"
After Nangong Min finished speaking, he hugged Mu Jin tightly again, as if Mu Jin would disappear from his sight if he didn't hold her tighter.
Mu Jin sighed, feeling somewhat saddened. By the time of Nangong Min, the only remaining member of the Nangong Shenzong lineage was him.
Nangong Yun is old and has many affairs to attend to in the sect. If he had been heartless enough to stay outside and not come back, he might have been able to deceive himself into thinking that the sect could do without him.
Now that Nangong Min has chosen to come back, if Nangong Yun were to plead with him, and given his soft heart, how could he possibly abandon his grandmother?
“Min, your grandmother doesn’t like me. She likes Bai Ling’er.”
Nangong Min shook his head: "Grandmother doesn't dislike you, it's just that during the years I was missing, Ling'er was always with her, so it's understandable that she favors Ling'er a bit."
"I may not be able to refuse the position of sect leader, but I will never marry Ling'er. I have already regarded you as my wife in my heart, so how can my heart accommodate other women?"
"I will talk to Ling'er tomorrow and ask her to come with me to plead with my grandmother. My grandmother is a reasonable person. Since I have agreed to inherit the position of sect leader, I think she will not force me to marry Ling'er."
"Give me a few more days. Once I have inherited the position of sect leader and handed over the sect affairs to the elders for their cooperation, I will go with you to find General Mu."
"From now on, wherever you want to go, I'll go with you, okay?"
Looking at Nangong Min in front of her, Mu Jin felt a mix of emotions. She knew how difficult it had been for Nangong Min to gain Nangong Yun's consent in just a few days, but she couldn't help but feel a sliver of hope.
At this moment, Nangong Min was so vulnerable, as if he would break at the slightest touch, and she really couldn't bear to reject him at this time.
After a long while, Mu Jin finally sighed and softly said "Okay" to Nangong Min.
Nangong Min laughed through his tears, and hugged Mu Jin even tighter. "Ah Jin, you're so good."
Mu Jin closed her eyes, but a vague unease lingered in her heart.
After being disturbed by Nangong Min, Mu Jin was no longer sleepy. She thought of lighting a lamp, but Nangong Min interrupted her.
"Ah Jin, can't you sleep? I can't sleep either. How about I take you for a walk around Shennong Mountain under the moonlight?"
Mu Jin looked at him in confusion: "Now?"
Nangong Min nodded: "Yes! Now, weren't you interested in the spiritual herbs in that herb field today? I'll take you there now."
Mu Jin hesitated: "But it's so far, it'll be tiring to walk there."
Nangong Min smiled gently: "You don't need to walk. I'll carry you and use my lightness skill. We'll arrive soon."
Mu Jin thought about it and thought Nangong Min's suggestion was good, so she gladly accepted it.
Nangong Min picked up Mu Jin and walked outside to the courtyard. He looked at Mu Jin in his arms with tenderness and smiled.
"Ah Jin, hold me tight. I'll take you to see the beautiful scenery of Shennong Mountain now."
Mu Jin smiled and nodded. Nangong Min lightly touched his toes, leaped up, jumped onto the roof, and then leaped a few more times. He quickly left the Nangong Divine Sect and headed towards the medicine field.
The nights at Shennong Mountain are very quiet, with the sounds of insects and frogs in the valley creating a melodious tune under the moonlight.
