Chapter 173 Encountering a Snake

The clothes Mu Jin wore to cover herself were damp from not being dried, barely enough to cover her shame, but her exquisite curves were still fully exposed to Su Yi.

Seeing this scene that made his blood boil, Su Yi realized what was happening and quickly retreated.

"Don't throw it, don't throw it. I understand the principle of 'Don't look at what is improper, don't listen to what is improper.' I just called you a few times and didn't hear your response. I was worried that something had happened to you, so I ran over."

Mu Jin said coldly, "You came here worried that something might happen to me? You just told me to call out loud if anything happens, but you didn't hear me call out. I think you need to be taught a lesson."

As Mu Jin spoke, she dressed, wrung out her hair, tied it up with a wooden hairpin, and prepared to go out from the reeds to deal with Su Yi.

Just then, something swam up to her feet in the water, and before she could even lift her foot, a sharp pain suddenly shot through her leg.

Mu Jin gasped instinctively. Su Yi, hearing this, knew something was wrong. He wasn't afraid of how Mu Jin would hold him accountable anymore and rushed into the reeds.

A black snake was seen biting Mu Jin's calf. He frowned, quickly lifted Mu Jin out of the water, and once on the shore, Su Yi grabbed the snake by the neck. In an instant, the snake released its grip and died.

Su Yi grabbed the snake he had strangled and threw it into the middle of the river, then turned back to Mu Jin and said.

"Do you realize my good intentions? If you had listened to me earlier, you wouldn't have been bitten by a snake, would you?"

Mu Jin frowned; her entire leg was numb after the pain, as if she had lost all feeling in it.

Su Yi placed Mu Jin on a rock by the river, then squatted down, lifted Mu Jin's leg, and without hesitation lowered his head, placing his lips on the wound and sucking hard.

After Su Yi spat out the blood and grime from Mu Jin's wound, he looked up and asked Mu Jin anxiously.

"Are you feeling unwell?"

Mu Jin felt a little embarrassed, after all, she had just reminded Su Yi that there were snakes in the river because he got close, and she had even misunderstood Su Yi's intentions towards her.

She whispered to Su Yi, "I feel a little dizzy."

Su Yi smiled and comforted her, "This snake's venom shouldn't be too strong, but just in case, we should use some snake medicine after we get on the carriage."

Seeing that Mu Jin's clothes were soaked, Su Yi was afraid that she would catch a cold, so he took off his outer garment and wrapped it around her, picked her up, and walked towards the carriage.

Mu Jin nestled in Su Yi's arms with her eyes closed and remained silent. She was afraid that Su Yi would laugh at her, but what she feared most came to pass.

Su Yi looked at Mu Jin, who was nestled in his arms with a guilty expression, and said with a smile, "You've learned to be shy now? But knowing how to be shy in front of me means you're very good to me~"

Mu Jin suddenly opened her eyes, her gaze clear, and said, "You should get out of here."

Su Yi laughed heartily and, as he spoke, reached the carriage.

Su Yi lifted the carriage curtain and carried Mu Jin into the carriage.

He told Mu Jin to quickly change out of her soaked clothes, and then he went out of the carriage to find Ling Feng and Ling Yu to get snake medicine.

These people who are often away from home carry various kinds of medicine for injuries, including snakebite medicine.

Holding the snake medicine, Su Yi stood outside the carriage and asked Mu Jin, "Have you changed your clothes?"

Mu Jin said, "It's changed."

Su Yi lifted the carriage curtain and smiled at Mu Jin with a hint of regret.

"How did you change so quickly? I was thinking that if Ah Jin hadn't finished changing, I would come in and help her."

As soon as Su Yi finished speaking, a bundle came flying towards him. He immediately caught it and looked at Mu Jin with a grin.

"You've been so rude to me again."

Su Yi put the bundle down and approached Mu Jin with the snake medicine.

Mu Jin's entire leg was numb, and she leaned against the quilt in the carriage.

Su Yi gently rolled up her trouser leg, revealing the wound, and then lightly sprinkled the medicine powder on it.

“If you had let me into the reeds and carried you out, you wouldn’t have been bitten by this snake.”

Mu Jin was about to kick him when he grabbed her ankle.

"Don't move now. Once you're better, you can kick me however you want."

The powder, when applied to the wound, stung like it was on fire. Mu Jin, however, was too embarrassed to utter a sound.

Knowing what it felt like to have the medicine powder sprinkled on a wound, Su Yi gently coaxed, "Bear with it a little longer, it won't hurt so much after another fifteen minutes."

Mu Jin nodded upon hearing this.

Seeing that Mu Jin's hair was still wet and stuck to her face, Su Yi sat down next to Mu Jin, took out a dry cotton towel, and gently wiped Mu Jin's wet hair.

Once Mu Jin's hair was dried, Su Yi told her to lie down and rest.

Having traveled all day and just been bitten by a snake, Mu Jin was already exhausted.

Su Yi gently lifted Mu Jin's head and placed it on his lap. Mu Jin tried to get up, but Su Yi stopped her.

Su Yi chuckled softly, "Don't move, just lie still. After all, you spent ten thousand taels of silver on me, so it's only natural that I provide you with these services. You don't need to feel embarrassed at all."

At this moment, Mu Jin was very sleepy and too lazy to argue with Su Yi about this matter anymore. After all, it was indeed more comfortable to sleep with her head on Su Yi's lap.

Mu Jin used Su Yi's legs as a pillow, and soon she fell asleep.

Watching Mu Jin's black hair cascade down his legs, Su Yi smiled gently, his lips curving upwards.

Ling Feng and Ling Yu received Su Yi's order and continued driving into the woods under the cover of night.

Su Yi was also in the swaying carriage, watching Mu Jin's sleeping face by the moonlight, and after watching for a while, he also fell asleep along with Mu Jin.

In the middle of the night, Mu Jin rolled over and snuggled up to Su Yi, as if she hadn't been sleeping comfortably. Su Yi had just helped her adjust her position when Mu Jin suddenly hugged her waist.

Su Yi looked at the person in his arms, unsure of what to do.

He wanted to reach out and hug Mu Jin, moving her onto his lap, but he was afraid she would suddenly wake up and get angry. So he could only wait until Mu Jin was sound asleep before holding her and letting her sleep peacefully on his lap.

After helping Mu Jin adjust her sleeping position, he gently stroked her hair with his fingers, then smiled and fell back asleep.

When Mu Jin woke up again, it was the next morning. She gently moved her leg, which had been bitten by a water snake the night before, and found that it was no longer painful or numb. She then propped herself up and sat up.

Su Yi also woke up at this moment. He had been sitting up all night and his body was a little stiff, but seeing Mu Jin wake up beside him made him feel particularly good.

Su Yi leaned closer and asked Mu Jin with a grin, "Does your foot still hurt? Do you want me to rub it for you?"

Mu Jin glared at her and sneered, "I wouldn't mind rubbing it for you."

Su Yi, however, smiled slyly and said, "This king would not dare to trouble A Jin to do it."

Lingfeng and Lingyu stopped the carriage by a stream.

Su Yi and Mu Jin went to the stream together to wash up, which made them feel a little more refreshed.

After washing up, the four ate some dry rations and rested for an hour in the wind and rain before continuing their journey.
