That night, Su Yi was wounded by Su Yuntian's arrow. Mu Jin had Su Yi's bodyguards ride horses to lure Su Yuntian's men away towards Wulan Town.
Su Yi, escorted by Mu Jin, Ling Feng, and Ling Yu, headed towards another direction of the mountain.
Fortunately, when they passed through a mountain forest, they encountered a hunter's family. They borrowed the hunter's house and were able to find a place to treat Su Yi.
With Mu Jin there, Mu Jin was the best doctor. Fortunately, after Mu Jin's careful examination, it was found that the arrow had hit a spot that was off-target, so it wouldn't be fatal.
It was only because the arrow caused Su Yi to lose too much blood that he developed a high fever in bed and slept in a daze for three days without waking up, which made Ling Feng and Ling Yu very anxious.
That night, Su Yuntian's men indeed followed the footsteps of the secret guards to Wulan Town.
However, after searching Wulan Town for two consecutive days, they found no trace of Su Yi and Mu Jin and had no choice but to leave.
When the news reached Su Yuntian's ears, he pursed his lips and listened as the guards who had participated in the search reported back to him about the entire search operation.
"Your Highness, that night, when we chased after them, we found that they were still waiting outside the camp with a troop of men, but their numbers were only half of ours, so we took advantage of the victory and pursued them all the way to Wulan City."
"But when we were about to reach Ulan City, the group of people suddenly disappeared."
"However, their hoofprints remained on the road, so we sealed off Ulan City and searched for two consecutive days. Unfortunately, we found no trace of them, perhaps..."
Su Yuntian was holding a teacup when, before he could finish speaking, the teacup suddenly shattered into several pieces. He picked up one piece and continued reporting to the person in front of him.
The guard's voice abruptly stopped. Blood gushed from his neck, and he collapsed to the ground, his eyes wide open, dying with his life hanging in the balance.
"waste!"
Su Yuntian stood up in a fit of rage, but he quickly calmed down.
He narrowed his eyes, strode to the prison cart outside the camp, and stared at Marquis Mu and his son with an uncertain expression, his emotions unclear.
"Tell me! What kind of woman is Mu Jin? How could a woman who was so gentle and respectful to me before have become like this?"
"Or is it that she was always like this, and only hid her true appearance to get closer to me?"
Marquis Muwei glared at Su Yuntian and said coldly, "I want to ask Prince Yun properly: when I married Ajin into the Prince Yun's mansion, she was just an innocent, quiet, and gentle young lady from a prominent family."
"How exactly did you drive her to such a desperate situation? I couldn't understand it at first, but when I saw you having your men surround and kill her that night, I understood everything."
"If she couldn't learn martial arts like a man, how could she protect her own life in the capital all by herself!"
Marquis Mu Wei knew in his heart that Mu Jin had changed, but when he personally witnessed Mu Jin being heavily surrounded by Su Yuntian's men, he was shocked.
Mu Jin, wielding a sharp sword, slaughtered a group of soldiers who rushed towards her like a demon, and then managed to escape unscathed.
Marquis Mu felt both guilty and proud. He felt guilty because, as Mu Jin's father, he couldn't stay by her side to protect her.
He was proud that his precious daughter had finally grown up.
He thought: even if he and Mu Yan encounter misfortune in the future, without their protection, their A Jin can still live a good life and remain unharmed.
Just before dawn, the candle on the table flickered and went out instantly.
Su Yi woke up with aches all over his body. By the moonlight shining through the window, he could vaguely see a person sleeping on the tea table a few steps away.
He assumed Ling Feng or Ling Yu were keeping watch for him, so he coughed twice and asked, "Where is this place? Where is A Jin? Is she injured?"
The person lying on the tea table made a slight movement. She looked up and saw Su Yi move slightly, as if he wanted to turn over.
However, he had barely moved when the wound on his back was aggravated, and the intense pain made him groan.
Mu Jin quickly stood up, poured a glass of water from the table, and walked to Su Yi's side to give it to him.
Su Yi's throat was parched. After drinking some water, he continued, "I'm asking you, is A Jin injured?"
Su Yi's voice was soft and gentle, but it stirred up a different kind of emotion in Mu Jin's heart.
"I'm not hurt. Thank you for being behind me and taking that arrow for me."
Upon hearing Mu Jin's voice, Su Yi suddenly opened his eyes.
Although the room was dimly lit, he could still vaguely make out the outline of her face.
Su Yi was very happy to see Mu Jin the first thing he saw when he woke up.
"Ah Jin, what brings you here?"
Mu Jin paused for a moment, then said, "Your injury this time is inextricably linked to me, so it's only right that I stay by your side."
Su Yi chuckled softly, "Then my injury was worth it."
Mu Jin raised her hand and touched Su Yi's forehead, saying, "It's alright, the fever has gone down."
Mu Jin stood up, wanting to go out to get medicine for Su Yi, but Su Yi grabbed her arm, and because she moved too quickly, she aggravated her wound.
Su Yi was in so much pain that he was sweating profusely. "Where are you going?"
Mu Jin frowned and said, "There's still some poison in your wound, don't move around. I'm just going out to get you some medicine."
Su Yi then released Mu Jin's hand. Mu Jin went outside and brought back a bowl of medicine at just the right temperature from the stove outside.
"Your injury is quite serious, and you'll need to rest for a few days. Take this medicine first."
After Mu Jin finished speaking, she took a soup spoon and fed Su Yi spoonful by spoonful.
During the days that Su Yi was unconscious, Mu Jin forced him to drink three bowls of medicine every day, so that when Su Yi woke up, his throat was still a little bitter.
