The days passed neither long nor short; ten days later, they finally arrived on the land of the Southern Shu Kingdom.
Mu Jin was able to arrive in the Southern Shu Kingdom so early entirely thanks to Su Yi's fast-moving convoy. For an ordinary person, this journey would have taken at least a month.
The capital of the Southern Shu Kingdom was Bianliang. Mu Jin had been staying in the Eastern Yue Kingdom since she transmigrated to this era. She had never been to the Southern Shu Kingdom, but she knew from snippets of conversation that it was a very wealthy country, and Bianliang was particularly prosperous.
When Mu Jin was first brought back to the General's Mansion by Mu Yan, she was bored every day and would sneak into Mu Yan's study to find books to read. She had seen descriptions of the Southern Shu Kingdom in those books.
At that time, she did have a fleeting thought: if she had the chance one day, she would like to see how prosperous Bianliang was.
But was Bianliang truly as prosperous and peaceful as described in the book? Now, looking back, more than a year has passed since she first learned about the Southern Shu Kingdom from the book.
She never imagined that her arrival in Bianliang, the capital of the Southern Shu Kingdom, was due to Su Yi.
During these days, thanks to the pharmacist's medication, Mu Jin was no longer suffering from seasickness on the ship. After disembarking, it only took her two days to reach Bianliang.
Su Yi specially prepared clothes from the Southern Shu Kingdom for Mu Jin. Judging from the exquisite style, Mu Jin always felt that Su Yi's maternal grandfather might actually be a nobleman from the Southern Shu Kingdom.
When Su Yi's entourage arrived at the gate of Bianliang City, the guards, upon seeing Su Yi, did not even need to check his token; instead, they bowed to him and allowed him to pass.
Their procession of carriages and horses was so grand that it attracted a large crowd when they entered the streets of Bianliang. The people whispered among themselves, "Is the young prince back?"
The words reached Mu Jin's ears, and her heart skipped a beat. "The young prince? Could it be that the people of the Southern Shu Kingdom are so friendly to the prince of the Eastern Yue Kingdom?"
Just then, the carriage curtain was lifted, and Su Yi rode out, saying, "Would you like to see the scenery of Bianliang?"
Su Yi wore a lazy, somewhat cynical smile. Mu Jin peered out of the carriage curtain he had lifted to read her book. It was exactly as described in her book.
The shops and restaurants along the way were grand and elegant, with an impressive presence. Inside the restaurants, the atmosphere was lively, with guests laughing and chatting, creating a spectacular scene.
Vendors on both sides of the street were enthusiastically hawking their wares, offering a dazzling array of snacks and handicrafts.
The people walking around always had bright smiles. They were dressed in fine clothes made of high-quality fabric, and their expressions and physiques were full of health. They seemed to be living a very good life!
Although the capital of Dongyue Kingdom was exceptionally bustling, this liveliness was ultimately the exclusive domain of wealthy and powerful families. How could ordinary people possibly dream of stepping into such a prosperous place?
Even though Mu Jin was well-traveled and knowledgeable, she couldn't help but look at Bianliang with some curiosity.
Seeing that Mu Jin was enjoying herself, Su Yi raised an eyebrow and said, "There's no need to rush. After you and I return to the manor to rest for a couple of days, I'll take you out for a stroll. Bianliang is much bigger than the capital, so we'll have to take our time to get to know it."
Mu Jin abruptly pulled down the carriage curtain and scoffed, "Why should I get familiar with this place? You should hurry up and finish your business here so I can get back to Dongyue Kingdom as soon as possible."
Su Yi's laughter came from outside the carriage. Mu Jin couldn't see Su Yi's expression, but she could tell from his voice that he was in a very good mood.
Whether it was Mu Jin's imagination or not, Mu Jin always felt that Su Yi's arrival in the Southern Shu Kingdom was more like coming home, while the Eastern Yue Kingdom was more like his temporary residence.
As I was pondering this, the carriage stopped.
Su Yi dismounted, and Qing'er lifted the carriage curtain and got off first. She turned around to help Mu Jin get off, but Su Yi took the initiative and helped Mu Jin down first.
When Mu Jin stepped off the carriage, she was greeted by a magnificent mansion. Two imposing stone lions stood guard on either side of the tall city gate, and the gate tower was painted in bright red, making it look noble and elegant.
Mu Jin looked up and was surprised to see the plaque above clearly reading "Princess's Residence". She turned to look at Su Yi in surprise.
Seeing the surprise in Mu Jin's eyes, Su Yi smiled, his captivating eyes crinkling, and leaned closer to Mu Jin, whispering in her ear.
"I forgot to tell you, my mother is the eldest princess of the Southern Shu Kingdom, and my maternal grandfather is Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Shu Kingdom."
Mu Jin looked at Su Yi with a face full of surprise. You should know that Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Shu Kingdom only had one daughter, Nan Yu, with his first wife, and had no children after that.
In other words, the only bloodline of the emperor of the Southern Shu Kingdom is now the twins, Su Yi and Su Muxue, left behind by his daughter.
No wonder he was able to easily buy grain and supplies in the Southern Shu Kingdom and send them to Yanmen Pass.
Su Yi smiled and patted Mu Jin's head, saying, "Let's go inside and talk."
After saying that, he took Mu Jin's hand and walked towards the gate of the princess's residence. When Su Yi and Mu Jin stepped into the gate, a row of guards and servants stood at the door and saluted in unison.
"Welcome, Your Highness!"
Su Yi simply nodded slightly to those people, then put his arm around Mu Jin's shoulder and walked inside.
Just then, a man in his sixties, with a kind and gentle face, who looked like a steward, ran out from the innermost part of the room and greeted them with a smile.
"Young Prince is back. It's good that you're back. You must have had a long journey."
Su Yi smiled and said, "It's not hard work at all."
The old steward received a letter a few days ago, informing him that Su Yi would be bringing back Miss Mu from the General's Mansion of Dongyue Kingdom, and asked him to prepare a set of utensils for women.
The old steward was quite surprised at the time, after all, he had never seen any woman appear beside Su Yi before.
Moreover, she had written him a letter in advance, telling him to prepare well. He knew that the woman who returned with Su Yi this time might be the future queen, so he dared not be negligent.
