Chapter 219 Imperial Edict

Seeing Nangong Ce's even more furious expression, Su Yuntian felt even happier and answered Su Mu.

"That's natural."

Su Yuntian raised the corners of his mouth slightly, and said with a half-smile, "Father, don't you like elixirs? Compared with the elixirs of the Nangong Divine Sect, the elixirs in this world are simply worlds apart! So I specially asked Sect Master Nangong to come to the palace to refine elixirs for you, which can be regarded as my last filial offering before your passing!"

Upon hearing this, Su Mu's face turned ashen with rage. He clenched his teeth, his fists pounded on the bed, and his voice was like a broken exhaust fan: "Guards! Guards! Drag this rebellious son out and beat him to death!"

Su Yuntian looked at Su Mu and let out a sneer, a laugh filled with disdain and mockery, as if he were looking at a clown. He continued.

"Father, your time is drawing near and you have little time left. As your son, I am grateful for your upbringing and would like to tell you about my plans after I ascend the throne, so that you may leave in peace."

After saying that, Su Yuntian slowly walked to the table next to him, picked up his teacup, took a sip, and then said unhurriedly, "Where should I begin? Well, let's start by talking to Father about how I should employ people after I ascend the throne."

"Do you still remember Huang Xin, Father? He is the supervisor you asked me to take to Yanmen Pass. I wanted to appoint him as the General of Dongyue because he helped me persuade his cousin Zhang Yong, who was the commander of the Imperial Guard, to serve me."

“Li Fuge will remain as prime minister, after all, he will be my in-laws in the future. I have promised that as long as he supports my succession, I will make his granddaughter empress.”

"As for the other two Grand Ministers, I will definitely replace them. That old man Zhang Liang is quite sensible; he voluntarily relinquished his position as Grand Commandant and retired to his hometown. I will be a good person and spare his life."

"But I will never let Huang Huaiyuan go. Don't be fooled by his upright and incorruptible appearance. You have only been in a coma for a little over a month and have not yet passed away. He has already secretly colluded with Su Yi's people and joined forces with many civil officials to try to make Su Yi the crown prince."

“However, this proves that many people in the court are hoping for your early demise,” Su Yuntian said, looking down at Su Mu with a manic glint in his eyes.

Su Mu's eyes flashed with anger, "Including you!"

"Father, please don't wrong your son." Su Yuntian said innocently, "Sect Leader Nangong said that you will definitely wake up after taking the medicine for forty-nine days. Father, you usually lie on this bed like a dead person. I am afraid that you will not wake up."

"After all, if you don't wake up, my throne will be less legitimate. If people say I'm a traitor, it won't sound very good."

After Su Yuntian finished speaking, he threw a written edict at Emperor Tongxu. "I have already had the edict of abdication written. All that is left is for Father to affix the imperial seal in front of all the ministers at the morning court session. Then I will be the new Emperor of Dongyue."

"You..." Su Mu's eyes widened, his nostrils flaring, as if the anger in his chest was about to erupt. He grabbed the imperial edict from his person and threw it on the ground. "Don't even think about it!"

Su Yuntian was not annoyed at all; instead, he turned his gaze to Nangong Ce. Nangong Ce understood immediately, took out a pill, and stepped forward to feed it to Su Mu. However, Su Mu clenched her teeth tightly and resisted with all her might.

After all, Su Mu is still the emperor, so Nangong Ce didn't dare to act rashly. He glanced at Su Yuntian, who didn't make things difficult for him but instead raised an eyebrow and strolled towards Su Mu.

He bent down and forcefully dislocated Su Mu's jaw, then took the pill from Nangong Ce's hand and forcibly stuffed it into Su Mu's mouth.

Watching Su Mu being forced to swallow the pill, Su Yuntian forcefully closed Su Mu's chin, straightened his back with satisfaction, and looked at Su Mu, who was in so much pain that he couldn't speak, with a half-smile.

"Father, why do you have to do this? Now that things have come to this, do you still think you have a choice?" Su Yuntian's words were as cold as a sharp blade, piercing Su Mu's heart.

After a long pause, Su Mu endured the pain and asked Su Yuntian, "What did you feed me?" Su Mu managed to squeeze out the question through gritted teeth.

"Puppet Pill." A sinister smile crept across Su Yuntian's lips. "Father, if you have any last words, hurry up and say them. After all, once you take this Puppet Pill, you will be like a walking corpse, completely at the mercy of others."

As soon as Su Yuntian finished speaking, Su Mu felt his vision begin to blur again, and his mind slowly became heavy. He seemed to realize something.

"My biggest regret is that I met your shameless, lowly mother and had you with her! You are nothing but the son of a merchant's wife. You dared to plot against me and did the things of a traitor. You will surely be punished in the future."

Su Mu's vision was already blurry, and his throat was getting tighter and tighter, making it extremely difficult to speak. With his last bit of strength, he reached out and waved his hand as if trying to grasp at a lifeline.

Su Mu frantically muttered, "My Yi'er will definitely avenge me, Yi'er... Mu Xue... Father, Father... is going to find your mother..."

With her last ounce of strength, Su Mu finished speaking her last words, then let her hands fall limply to her sides, her eyes vacant and lifeless, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Nangong Ce stepped forward, placed two fingers under Su Mu's nose, then removed his fingers and turned to Su Yuntian, saying, "The late emperor has passed away."

Although Su Yuntian was mentally prepared, his gaze still faltered upon hearing Nangong Ce's words. He then stepped forward and stared at Su Mu on the bed.

He slowly extended his right hand, as if to touch the father he had once been proud of and regarded as a god, but then withdrew his hand as if he had been electrocuted.
