Su Yi stepped into Mu Jin Courtyard, his gaze falling on that familiar figure. He saw her sitting quietly on the roof, gazing absently in the east.
Su Yi knew that Mu Jin must be missing her father and brothers who were far away in Dongyue at this moment.
He stood silently below the roof, looking up at Mu Jin with a slight smile on his lips. After a while, he said softly, "Tell me, did you bring the ladder and climb up yourself this time, or has your lightness skill improved so you can fly up here?"
Upon hearing this, Mu Jin glanced at him, stood up from the roof, and leaped down, landing in front of Su Yi.
Su Yi smiled and said to Mu Jin, "Ah Jin's lightness skill has indeed improved. Not bad, not bad."
"I need three thousand elite soldiers, will you give them to me?" Mu Jin asked bluntly.
Su Yi paused for a moment, raised an eyebrow, then turned around leisurely and leaned against the stone table next to him. He exuded a lazy aura, with an extremely handsome face, beautiful eyebrows and eyes, and a gentle and refined demeanor.
At this moment, Su Yi was completely different from the majestic and supreme ruler he was in the imperial court.
Perhaps only in front of Mu Jin could he let down his guard and show his truest self. "What do you need so many soldiers for?" Su Yi asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Return to Dongyue," Mu Jin replied succinctly.
Su Yi asked, "Save your father and brothers?"
"Hmm!" Mu Jin's eyes sharpened. "You once promised me that once you quelled the rebellion in Southern Shu, you would accompany me back to Eastern Yue to ensure the Mu family's eternal glory and peace."
Mu Jin paused for a moment, then continued.
"Now that you have become the emperor of Southern Shu, the Southern Shu Kingdom cannot do without you. I do not need you to accompany me to fight back to Eastern Yue, nor do I need you to protect the Mu family's lifelong glory and peace. I only need you to lend me some troops to help me return to Eastern Yue."
After listening to what Mu Jin said, the arrogant and unruly smile that had been on Su Yi's lips slowly faded away.
"The Southern Shu Kingdom needs me." Su Yi stared into Mu Jin's eyes and said, "Don't you need me too?"
"Me." Mu Jin looked away, feeling a little guilty, and said in a low voice, "Who said I don't need it? I need you to lend me some soldiers to take back to Dongyue."
"What will happen after you rescue your father and brothers?" Su Yi asked. Mu Jin didn't answer, but she thought to herself: Naturally, she would live with her father and brothers and live a good life.
This past year, she had grown accustomed to Su Yi's boisterous antics, and she wondered if she would be able to get used to life without him. Thinking this, a sense of emptiness welled up inside her.
Su Yi chuckled, somewhat self-deprecatingly, "Even now, you're still not used to having me in your world."
"We can't be together," Mu Jin said in a low voice. "You are the emperor of Southern Shu. In the future, you will have countless women in your harem. You don't need me."
Su Yi looked at Mu Jin with a cold smile and said, "Anything else?"
"My man, Mu Jin, can only have me. He cannot have any other woman, not even if it's just a fling. I cannot accept that."
Mu Jin said seriously, "I, Mu Jin, do not want to be one of the many women in your harem. You know me, I am not the kind of woman who would be trapped in the harem or the inner quarters."
"What if I insist on keeping you trapped?" Su Yi looked at Mu Jin with a half-smile.
Seeing Su Yi's relaxed demeanor, Mu Jin wasn't sure if he was serious. After all, as the saying goes, "The most ruthless place is the imperial family."
Mu Jin frowned and said coldly, "If you insist on doing that, I'm not sure if I will disrupt your harem and kill all the women in it."
Su Yi was taken aback. When he realized what was happening, he suddenly smiled and his lips curved into a smile. His smiling eyes were filled with a radiant light.
Su Yi's laugh left Mu Jin bewildered. "What are you laughing at?" Mu Jin asked, but Su Yi didn't answer, instead continuing to laugh heartily.
Mu Jin was a little confused. She suspected that Su Yi might have been driven crazy by her. "Hey, I said! Stop laughing!"
Su Yi laughed for a while before stopping. He looked at Mu Jin and said, "If I imprison you, you will kill the women in my harem. They will not die unjustly."
Mu Jin was taken aback when she heard this. Before she could react, Su Yi stood up, walked towards her, and continued talking to Mu Jin with a smile.
"Could it be that you hate me because you love me? You're jealous of me, but you can't bear to kill me, so you go and kill all the women in my harem instead?"
Hearing Su Yi say this, Mu Jin couldn't help but feel annoyed. She was not only annoyed by Su Yi, but also by her own words. She would never admit to being jealous of Su Yi. At most, she just wanted to stir up trouble in his harem, make him angry and give her a headache, and then let her leave.
Mu Jin frowned, wanting to refute, but Su Yi stepped forward and hugged her tightly.
Mu Jin was furious. She struggled and tried to push Su Yi away, but Su Yi held her even tighter.
"Ah Jin, don't move, listen to me." Su Yi whispered in Mu Jin's ear.
“From a young age, my father and maternal grandfather told me that I would have to shoulder the heavy responsibilities of both countries in the future, including the stability of the court, the well-being of the people, how to choose wives and concubines who would help me, and the expansion of the territory. I didn’t like to learn those things, but as a prince and grandson of the emperor, I had no choice.”
"Because in order to be the perfect emperor in the eyes of my father and grandfather, I have to lose myself and live with a mask on for the rest of my life."
"If even your own spouse requires scheming, is the throne really as good as everyone says?"
"Gradually, I intentionally did what my father and grandfather disliked. I thought, if I had to live with a mask on for the rest of my life, I might as well be a dissolute prince who indulges in a life of debauchery."
