Mu Jin asked the man, "Are you feeling better?"
The man said, "Thanks to your kindness in treating me, Miss, I am fully recovered."
Mu Jin looked at Mu Yan: "Brother, you were looking for me? Why is he still in the manor?"
Upon hearing Mu Jin's words, the man unconsciously clenched his hands, which were hidden under his sleeves. If the siblings had been observant enough, they would have noticed just how nervous the man standing before them was.
Mu Yan said, "He has amnesia. He doesn't even remember his own name or know where to go. He wants to stay in the manor. We don't know what to do with him. We'd like to hear your opinion."
Mu Jin looked at the man, turned around, and sized him up. His dark clothes made him look even taller and more upright. His long hair was tied into a simple bun at the back of his head with an ordinary wooden hairpin.
Mu Jin thought to herself, "If this were the real world, I could probably become a huge star as a male escort in a nightclub." Then she felt a little ashamed of her own wild thoughts and coughed lightly, "Tell me what you're capable of."
The man said somewhat nervously, "I know a little bit of martial arts."
Mu Jin wasn't surprised, because judging from the man's physique and demeanor, he was no ordinary person. However, even the men who cleaned in this general's mansion knew kung fu, so it wasn't anything surprising.
"Then show us how it works."
The man nodded in agreement to Mu Jin and then asked Mu Yan to lend him a sword.
The brother and sister saw the man, holding a long sword, leap to the open space beside the corridor. He moved with agility, like a cheetah wielding his sword in the open space. The sword light flashed, like a white dragon emerging from the water, sharp and swift.
The sharp sword wind was like a tiger descending the mountain, fierce and powerful, with complex and exquisite moves.
After performing a set of sword techniques, the man stepped on the wall, used the momentum to spin, and like a light and nimble swallow, he nimbly flew onto the roof. Then he took off again, tumbled in the air, and slowly landed in front of the brother and sister.
This was the first time Mu Jin had ever seen the legendary lightness skill, and she exclaimed, "Brother, is this lightness skill? This person's kung fu is really good, I want to learn it."
The man's skill was even better than Mu Yan had expected: "This sword technique seems familiar. Don't you really remember where you come from?"
The man shook his head sadly. He really didn't know his own name. If it weren't for the brother and sister saving him, he would have died on that road long ago.
Mu Yan pondered for a moment: "You can stay in the General's Mansion for the time being, and work as a regular guard. But no matter whether you regain your memory or not, and no matter what your identity is, you must not do anything to harm the people or affairs of the General's Mansion, or you know the consequences."
The man knelt on one knee and said to Mu Yan, "Thank you, General Wei, for taking me in. I swear on my life that I will never harm anyone in the General's Mansion, no matter when or where. Otherwise, may I die a horrible death."
Mu Yan nodded: "Would you like to give yourself a name?"
The man shook his head.
Mu Yan said, "I don't want to name you randomly. The doctor also said that your amnesia is temporary. Who knows, you might regain your memory and leave tomorrow. It's been exactly eleven days since we rescued you, so let's use a number as your name. From now on, we'll call you Eleven, how about that?"
Upon hearing this, Mu Jin chuckled: "Brother, if using numbers to help people name someone isn't considered casual, then what is?"
Mu Yan glared at Mu Jin with a warning look.
The man, however, was delighted and bowed to Mu Yan, saying, "Thank you, General Wei, for bestowing upon me a name."
Then, Mu Yan clapped his hands, and a bodyguard landed in front of him, startling Mu Jin. Mu Yan told the bodyguard to take Eleven away to arrange work. Eleven and his brother and sister bowed and took their leave.
After watching the guard lead Eleven away, Mu Jin patted Mu Yan on the shoulder: "Brother, are there hidden guards all over the rooftops of our mansion?"
Mu Yan pinched Mu Jin's cheek with his hand, but did not answer Mu Jin's question directly. He smiled and said, "Guess?" Then he walked towards the dining hall.
...
Outside the Prince Yun's Mansion, the sound of gongs and drums filled the air as a long wedding procession stretched from one end of the street to the other, its ten-mile-long red bridal procession the envy of women throughout the capital.
The streets were lined with onlookers, all discussing how the Prince of Yun was marrying a concubine, and that the ceremony was even grander than that for the principal wife. Compared to that, the Prince of Yun's wedding to his principal wife seemed far too simple.
The whole city is celebrating the marriage of a concubine. This is not only a slap in the face to Princess Yun, but also to the General's Mansion.
Consort De, Shen Rong, sat in the high hall of the Prince Yun's mansion, surrounded by members of the royal family and some important court officials who were observing the ceremony.
Logically, when Prince Yun marries a concubine, Shen Rong should not leave the palace. However, since Shen Qianqian is her niece, she made an exception and left the palace to officiate at Shen Qianqian's wedding, also to show everyone how much she values Shen Qianqian.
Su Yuntian and Shen Qianqian stood in the wedding hall, and from a distance, they did look very well-matched.
"The auspicious time has arrived!"
Just as the matchmaker was about to announce the start of the wedding ceremony, the guests suddenly became noisy.
Outside the inner hall, Mu Jin, dressed in a light white gown and with stunning makeup, was undeniably beautiful.
The maid Qing'er, supporting Mu Jin's hand, slowly walked into the front hall.
Princess Yun, Mu Jin.
Shen Rong followed the guests' discussion and looked over. When she saw that the newcomer was Mu Jin, her warm smile vanished instantly, turning her face as cold as ice.
Mu Jin walked up to Shen Rong, curtsied, and said, "Greetings, Mother Consort." Then, she walked up to the main seat with neither arrogance nor servility and sat down.
Shen Rong wanted to scold him for being late, but she couldn't do so because there were so many guests present.
She coldly and softly scolded, "Why are you only arriving now? Are you trying to embarrass Yun Tian and Qian Qian? You really are someone who was born of a mother but not raised by one."
