Chapter 246 Detoxification

Inside the council room, everyone except Mu Jin was present. Nangong Min sat in his seat, silently looking down at the cup of tea on the table.

Suddenly, a soldier's voice came from outside the door, "Deputy General Mu has arrived." Upon hearing the summons, Nangong Min paused and quickly stood up, looking towards the doorway.

As Mu Jin entered the council room, she was met with a burning gaze. Sensing something, she followed the gaze and paused involuntarily. Only after realizing that the so-called old friend was Nangong Min did she walk to the seat next to Mu Yan and sit down.

When Mu Yan saw Mu Jin arrive, he couldn't help but beam with joy: "Jin, look who's here? It's Eleven, oh no, it's Sect Leader Nangong! Look, this is truly a case of wishes coming true. I just sent him a carrier pigeon today, and he's already here."

Mu Jin hadn't seen Nangong Min for a long time. Ever since she had a heart-to-heart talk with Nangong Min at the Nangong Divine Sect, she hadn't heard from him or seen him at all.

She still remembered how Nangong Min was seriously injured for her sake, which moved her deeply, and she agreed to be with him. She also remembered how, back in the Nangong Shenzong sect, Nangong Min kowtowed to Nangong Yun in order to get him to accept her, and even tried to cover his forehead with his black hair so she wouldn't worry.

The past seemed to replay itself yesterday. Now, only a few months have passed since they last met, but Nangong Min's once black hair has turned gray at the temples.

Mu Jin smiled slightly at Nangong Min: "Min, it's been a long time."

Su Yi couldn't stand Mu Jin and Nangong Min's intimate way of addressing each other, so he interrupted.

“Ah Jin, don’t be rude. The current Sect Master Nangong is not the amnesiac Eleventh Guard of your Mu family. The current Sect Master Nangong has inherited the position of Sect Master and has also married Miao Gong Lingnu.”

After Su Yi finished speaking, he turned to congratulate Nangong Min and said, "The incident happened suddenly that day, and A Jin and I were unable to stay at Nangong Shenzong to attend the ceremony of the sect leader and his wife. I also heard that the sect leader's wife is already six months pregnant. If we calculate the time, it just happened to be the time when A Jin and I were guests at Nangong Shenzong."

"I congratulate the Sect Master. After the young master is born, Ah Jin and I will definitely present him with a grand gift."

When Nangong Min heard Su Yi say this, his heart ached as if it had been squeezed. He instinctively looked at Mu Jin in panic, but when he saw that Mu Jin was not looking at him, his face turned pale.

Nangong Min hadn't seen Mu Jin for a long time, and he missed her terribly every day. He often wondered if he would still be the one sitting next to Mu Jin now if he hadn't returned to the Nangong Divine Sect with her.

However, the interests of his family, the threat posed by Nangong Yun, and the mission to save the common people forced him to choose between the responsibilities he was unwilling to bear and Mu Jin.

Moreover, after being tricked by Nangong Yun and having consummated his marriage with Bai Ling'er, he felt that he was no longer worthy of Mu Jin, which is why he restrained his impulse to go find Mu Jin.

Nangong Min turned to Su Yi and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty, there is no need for such formalities."

Mu Yan asked Nangong Min, "Sect Master, there is something I don't know. I sent you a message by carrier pigeon today, but Nangong Shenzong is very far from here. Even if the carrier pigeon is fast, it will take two days to arrive. How come you arrived so quickly?"

Nangong Min turned to look at Mu Yan, but his eyes were only on Mu Jin beside Mu Yan. He stared at Mu Jin as she answered Mu Yan's question.

"Ever since Nangong Ce escaped from the Nangong Shenzong, the Shenzong has issued a kill order against him, but he has been hiding in the Dongyue royal family, and we are currently helpless against him."

"Two months ago, I suddenly heard that His Majesty of Dongyue had died. His symptoms before death should have been that he had been poisoned by the Soul Separation Pill. I also suddenly heard that after Su Yuntian ascended the throne, Nangong Ce bought up a large amount of Heart-Eating Grass. He must be using this grass to refine a secret poison that has been forbidden in our sect for a long time."

Mu Yan asked urgently, "What kind of forbidden poison?"

Nangong Min said, "Corpse poison!"

Upon hearing this, everyone was in an uproar. Mu Jin also felt a dull pain in the wound on her neck.

Nangong Min continued, "I calculated the amount of Heart-Eating Grass Nangong Ce used, and it would be used on at least tens of thousands of people. After the Emperor inherited the throne of Southern Shu, Dongyue and Beiqi launched an attack on Southern Shu. I immediately realized that the corpse poison made from those Heart-Eating Grasses would definitely be used to deal with Southern Shu. So, half a month ago, I received the news and rushed over from Nangong Shenzong to Southern Shu."

Upon hearing this, Mu Yan burst into laughter again: "Everyone says that the Nangong Divine Sect saves people from trouble. If that's true, with the sect leader's help, I believe that Nangong Ce's corpse poison will be useless against us."

Su Yi also picked up a teacup and toasted Nangong Min, saying, "Sect Leader Nan, you are so righteous. I will offer you this tea in place of wine to express my gratitude for your righteous assistance."

Seeing Su Yi stand up, everyone picked up their wine glasses and stood up to toast Nangong Min.

Suddenly, the sound of a teacup shattering rang out, followed by several terrified cries of "Ah Jin!"

Mu Jin fainted next to Mu Yan, who caught her immediately: "Ah Jin, what's wrong?"

Su Yi instantly moved to Mu Jin's side, took Mu Jin from Mu Yan's hands, and Nangong Min followed, anxiously grabbing Mu Jin's wrist with one hand.

"Why did A-Jin get infected with corpse poison?" After taking Mu Jin's pulse, Nangong Min asked Su Yi with a trembling voice, "Why didn't you protect her?"

"Corpse poison? Ah Jin has been poisoned by corpse poison? How could that be? She was perfectly fine when we returned to camp tonight. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"

When Su Yi heard that Mu Jin had been poisoned by corpses, his face turned pale, followed by a wave of panic. He said in a voice filled with self-reproach and panic, "It's my fault. I didn't notice that she was injured by the wounded soldiers. I beg you to save A Jin. I will grant you whatever you want."

Nangong Min took Mu Jin from Su Yi's hands, but Su Yi instinctively didn't let go. Nangong Min glared at Su Yi angrily: "If you don't want A Jin to die, then let go!"

Upon hearing this, Su Yi quickly released his grip on Mu Jin. The beauty in his arms was familiar and warm, but Nangong Min didn't have time to reminisce about it.

Nangong Min dismissed the unrelated people from the council room, then asked someone to bring a clean teacup. He took out a pill from his pocket, put it in the teacup, dissolved it with warm water, then took out a small knife and cut open his palm, feeding Mu Jin the blood from his palm along with the dissolved pill.

Nangong Min was startled to realize that Mu Jin had worn lip rouge tonight when it stained the teacup. He raised his hand and gently wiped away the crimson stain, revealing Mu Jin's lips turning bluish-black instantly.

No one had noticed Mu Jin's unusual demeanor before, because she had put on makeup to conceal her true complexion. However, she never liked wearing makeup, so why was she doing so tonight? The three of them were filled with many thoughts.

Mu Yan stood to the side, filled with self-reproach. "It's all my fault for being such a bad older brother. I didn't take good care of A Jin. I deserve to die!" Before he finished speaking, he slapped himself hard several times.

Su Yi looked at Mu Jin, who was unconscious in Nangong Min's arms, and felt a pain in his heart.

Mu Yan asked anxiously, "Sect Leader Nan, why hasn't A Jin woken up yet after taking the medicine? When will she wake up?"

Nangong Min held Mu Jin in his arms, gazing at her intently. He had just taken Mu Jin's pulse and knew that she had only recently fallen ill. He believed that the antidote mixed with his blood should be fine, but looking at the sleeping girl in his arms, his heart still felt as if it had been ripped out, leaving it completely empty.
