The sand and stones swirled and pressed in from the valley, choking Mu Jin several times. She thought to herself, Su Yi had saved her so many times, this time she could say she had finally repaid him.
As the landslide approached, the mud and rocks buried her heels. Mu Jin suddenly felt so tired from running that she could no longer support herself, so she let go of the vines.
Su Yi suddenly felt a lightness behind him, and his body staggered forward a few steps due to inertia. When he turned around, his face turned deathly pale.
Half a mountain behind Mu Jin rushed in like a flood. She stood there, seemingly exhausted, the mud covering half of her body from behind, making it impossible for her to move another step.
Mu Jin looked up at Su Yi and smiled, but when she saw that Su Yi was standing still and did not run forward, she burst into tears again and cried out to Su Yi.
“Run away—after you run away, find a woman better than me to be your empress. Also, tell my father and brother not to be sad, and I want to be their family again in my next life.”
Su Yi had never seen Mu Jin cry so miserably, and the words she spoke were more painful than a sword piercing his heart. Only now did Su Yi understand why Mu Jin had been trying to break free from his grasp. She had been lying to him all along.
Su Yi had never been so clear-headed as to realize that Mu Jin wanted him to live, that Mu Jin was willing to give up her own life so that he could leave alive.
She lied to him, but doesn't this complete liar realize it by now? If she dies, how can he live on alone?
She had just agreed to marry him, and now she wanted to go back on her word? No! She had promised to be his woman, and even in death, they would die together. Even in hell, they would be a ghost couple.
Su Yi's eyes were red and seemed to be glistening with tears. Facing the mudslide that was devouring Mu Jin like a demon, he turned around, pushed off with his feet, and rushed towards Mu Jin.
