Chapter 258 Don't Sleep

Su Yi's words moved and saddened Mu Jin. When he spoke, his breath was so weak that it brushed against Mu Jin's head like a feather.

Mu Jin knew that Su Yi was in a very bad state at the moment, and that he might faint again if he was not careful.

Mu Jin paused for a moment, tears streaming down her face and soaking Su Yi's chest. She choked out, "I know, but you have to hold on first. Once we're all out of here, I'll do whatever you want."

Su Yi raised his hand to wipe away Mu Jin's tears and smiled, "Is it really that good? How could I bear to die for your words? But don't cry yet, seeing you cry makes my wounds hurt even more."

Upon hearing Su Yi's words, Mu Jin quickly sat up. She anxiously checked Su Yi's injuries and asked, "Did I press on your wounds?"

Su Yi smiled silently: "I'm not holding it in, just don't cry, it will break my heart if you cry."

Mu Jin sniffed and said to Su Yi, "Tell me if you feel unwell anywhere, don't hold it in."

"Okay!" Su Yi said with a smile, "I promise you, don't cry."

Su Yi's words only put Mu Jin at ease a little, but when she saw that Su Yi's face was even paler, her heart, which had just relaxed, couldn't help but jump again.

Because Su Yi had lost too much blood and was not receiving any food or medicine, the situation would become increasingly dangerous if this continued.

At this moment, Su Yi was in a daze, feeling extremely cold at times and burning hot at others. He even saw double when he looked at Mu Jin.

"Ah Jin, I want to sleep for a while first," Su Yi said softly to Mu Jin, his eyes slightly closed.

"Hang in there," Mu Jin said. "Don't sleep yet. Wait until we leave here and find a doctor before you sleep, okay?"

Mu Jin was afraid that if Su Yi fell asleep like this, he would never wake up again, just like last night, no matter how she called out to him, Su Yi just couldn't wake up and respond to her.

"Su Yi." Mu Jin kissed Su Yi's forehead and said, "Don't sleep. I'll go out and take a look. Once I find a way out, I'll come back and take you away."

Soft lips touched Su Yi's forehead, causing him to open his eyes slightly. He smiled, his pale lips curving upwards, and said, "Ah Jin, can I kiss you again? I wasn't prepared just now."

Mu Jin kissed Su Yi's lips this time. After a moment, her face flushed, she lowered her head and covered Su Yi with her coat, not daring to meet Su Yi's burning gaze. She then stood up decisively and said to Su Yi, "Promise me you won't fall asleep. I'll be back soon." After she finished speaking, she walked out.

Su Yi instinctively wanted to grab her hand, but found that she didn't even have the strength to raise her hand to hold Mu Jin.

As dawn broke and the rain stopped, Mu Jin looked up and saw the devastation covering the mountains and fields.

She knew how many people were buried under those mudslides; they were all victims of war. The fact that she and Su Yi survived and escaped those catastrophes was either pure luck or simply a matter of fate.

Mu Jin saw that they were about a hundred meters away from the edge of the mountain. This distance was neither long nor short. On a normal road, it would take two or three minutes to walk across.

But now these original paths are covered by mud and soil that has collapsed from the mountain. If a person walks on them, they might sink into the soft mud and be buried. Moreover, it would be even more difficult for her to carry Su Yi away.

She looked around, picked up a rock the size of a bucket and threw it into the mud in front of her. The rock stopped halfway up the mud. She picked up another rock and continued to probe in this way, and soon she found a path leading to the foot of the mountain.

Mu Jin was overjoyed and turned to run towards where Su Yi was hiding. But when she ran back to Su Yi's side, she saw that Su Yi had already closed his eyes. Mu Jin panicked and quickly went forward to hug Su Yi. She checked under his nose and found that Su Yi's breath was even weaker.

"Su Yi!" Mu Jin gently shook Su Yi. "Didn't you promise me you wouldn't fall asleep? Su Yi, wake up."

Mu Jin seemed to be speaking to Su Yi, but it also seemed like she was comforting herself.

"It's okay. You survived such a serious injury last time, so you'll definitely be fine this time too. Yes, you're just tired."

Although Mu Jin was trying to comfort herself, her whole body was still tense. She couldn't help but tighten her arms and hug Su Yi tightly.

Just as Mu Jin was at a loss, she heard Su Yi speak weakly, "Ah Jin, if you keep doing this to me, although I am very happy, my body is afraid it can't take it now."

Upon hearing this, Mu Jin quickly released Su Yi.

"I'm just tired, nothing will happen." Su Yi reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind Mu Jin's ear, saying softly, "Don't be afraid."

Mu Jin nodded, but she was actually terrified. After confirming their feelings for each other, she couldn't bear the pain of losing Su Yi, so she dared not delay any longer and had to leave this place with Su Yi as soon as possible.

"Then hang in there. I'll take you away from here now and find a place to properly treat your injuries." With that, Mu Jin picked Su Yi up and carried him on her back.

The stone cave entrance was very low; when Mu Jin carried Su Yi out, they even had to crawl on their knees to get out.

Su Yi frowned and said with heartache, "Why don't you leave me here and go find General Mu and Ling Feng first? Once you find them, bring them to pick me up."

Last night, Su Yi ordered Mu Yan to lead the people to Liangmen Pass, leaving only Ling Feng to protect him. It's uncertain whether Ling Feng will survive this disaster.

Mu Jin carried Su Yi on her back, and with a long spear in her hand, she struggled to stand up.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Enough nonsense! I won't leave you here alone. Didn't we agree that we'd live together and die together?"

Su Yi smiled, her pale lips curving upwards, and said, "Okay!"

Mu Jin carefully carried Su Yi, stepping slowly down the rocks towards the foot of the mountain. Having not eaten for more than ten hours, she found it very difficult to carry Su Yi.

Even so, she gritted her teeth and walked very steadily, afraid that she might accidentally trip and fall on Su Yi.

The cold wind of the valley howled around them, and Mu Jin, carrying Su Yi on her back, was covered in sweat. Su Yi wiped Mu Jin's brow with his icy hands.

"Ah Jin, why don't you put me down and let me rest for a while before you go?"

Panting heavily, Mu Jin had no energy left to respond to Su Yi's words. She could only slowly walk forward, responding to Su Yi with her actions; she couldn't stop.

Suddenly, the sound of horses' hooves reached their ears from the mountain. Unsure whether they were friend or foe, Mu Jin quickly carried Su Yi behind a small mound of earth.

The sound of hooves ahead grew louder, and Mu Jin's heart pounded. If they were her own people, all would be well; but if they were Su Yuntian's men, she and Su Yi would surely die today.

Mu Jin held Su Yi's hand tightly, lay down behind the mound of earth, and slowly peeked out. She saw a troop of riders galloping towards them, the sound of their hooves deafening.

Mu Jin gradually recognized the man on horseback leading the group. Tears welled up in her eyes as she stood up, walked to the mound, and waved loudly, shouting, "Brother, I'm here!"
