Chapter 266 The Grand Finale (Part 2)

The soldiers from Southern Shu wanted to step forward, but Su Yi stopped them.

The two sides glared at each other, but everyone present knew that Su Yuntian's side was nothing more than a group of desperate people.

Su Yuntian's face was also deathly pale. Fine beads of cold sweat covered his forehead. Blood was dripping from the wound inflicted by Su Yi's sword, rolling to the ground and disappearing into the dust.

Several more explosions were heard in the distance; without a doubt, they were caused by the Southern Shu army firing gunpowder into the Eastern Yue army.

Panting heavily, Su Yuntian wanted to question Su Yi and Mu Jin about where the gunpowder came from, but he found that he had no strength left and no need to ask anymore. Because in this battle, and even in this life, he would never be able to turn the tide, because in the final fight between Su Yi and him, a sharp sword had pierced his artery.

Su Yuntian's blood was flowing rapidly, and gradually he could no longer stand upright, so he was supported by his guards. His dragon robe was stained with blood. He could even feel the blood in his limbs slowly stop flowing, until it gradually became cold.

Su Yuntian died, and until the moment he breathed his last, his unwilling eyes were still staring straight at Su Yi and Mu Jin.

Overnight, Su Yi and his men decisively defeated the combined forces of Dongyue and Beiqi with minimal losses. All the soldiers led by Su Yuntian surrendered under the attack of Nan Shu's gunpowder, a cause for celebration. The morale of the Nan Shu soldiers was boosted and invigorated like never before.

They believed that as long as Su Yi and the Mu family army joined forces, there was no battle they could not win, and the recapture of Dongyue and Beiqi would be just around the corner.

That night, Su Yi and Mu Jin rode together on a horse and stood on the mountaintop, watching the tens of thousands of Dongyue troops kneel and surrender in the valley.

Although it consisted of only tens of thousands of East Vietnamese soldiers, this represented the entire military strength of the entire East Vietnamese nation.

Dongyue was once a powerful nation in the world. If it weren't for its excessive greed and constant conquests, it wouldn't have been able to muster even a few hundred thousand soldiers for a single battle. Thinking of this, one can't help but feel a pang of sadness.

Su Yi sat behind Mu Jin and wrapped his arms around her waist. The two of them looked at the distant mountains, where the morning light was faintly visible, indicating that dawn was approaching.

Mu Jin smiled and turned to look at Su Yi. She pointed to the due east and said to Su Yi, "Look, the sun is about to rise. It's a new day."

"A new day is about to begin. What does Ah Jin want to do after this battle is over?"

"Eat, drink, travel, and be a lazy bum!"

Su Yi looked at Mu Jin with affection and continued to ask, "Anything else?"

"Find a wife for my brother, and have a bunch of kids to take care of my father."

Su Yi frowned, tightening his grip on Mu Jin's arms even more. He was still somewhat unwilling to give up, and asked, "Anything else?"

Seeing Su Yi's reaction, Mu Jin chuckled and turned to look at him.

Their eyes met, and Mu Jin raised her hand to gently cover Su Yi's eyes. After a brief kiss, she spoke.

"And also, I will marry you and be your wife for all eternity!"

Several months later, Southern Shu recaptured the last city of Beiqi. From then on, Dongyue and Beiqi were incorporated into the territory of Southern Shu, and the capital was established in Bianliang because it was spring-like all year round, which Mu Jin liked.

The triumphant army of Southern Shu returned to the capital, and the whole country rejoiced. Emperor Gaozong, the retired emperor, personally went out of the city to welcome them and comfort the soldiers.

For the next few decades, the emperor and empress of Southern Shu lived in harmony, with only Mu Jin as the empress in the entire harem. Under Su Yi's rule, Southern Shu prospered and its people flourished, and no one dared to invade it.
