Mu Jin chewed on a beef skewer while licking her lips, her red lips looking luscious and tempting.
She glanced at Su Yi, a half-smile playing on her lips, clearly feeling quite pleased after having eaten and drunk her fill.
"There's no need for King Yi to condescend to see me off. You've forgotten that I brought a coachman and maids with me."
Su Yi raised an eyebrow: "Alright."
The two left the tavern, and there were hardly any people on the street. Qing'er came over with a cloak and draped it over Mu Jin.
Mu Jin turned to look at Su Yi standing next to her, smiled at him, and waved to indicate that she was leaving first.
Slightly drunk, Mu Jin, supported by Qing'er, had only walked a few steps when she heard Su Yi calling her from behind.
She turned around and saw Su Yi walking towards her.
After thinking for a moment, Su Yi couldn't resist touching Mu Jin's left cheek with his fingertip.
Perhaps due to the effects of the alcohol, Mu Jin reacted somewhat slowly and did not dodge.
Su Yi said, "The medicine I gave you that day is also very effective for this kind of injury. Apply it several times a day, and the swelling will disappear in less than two days."
Mu Jin seemed to understand and nodded. Then, with Qing'er's help, she boarded the carriage of the Prince Yun's residence. Before long, the carriage disappeared around the corner.
The carriage swayed and rocked along the street, and Mu Jin, because of the alcohol, quickly fell asleep in the carriage.
To make Mu Jin more comfortable, Qing'er placed Mu Jin's head on her lap.
She was a little worried because Mu Jin didn't usually drink alcohol. Even when socializing with wealthy ladies, she would only touch the rim of the glass as a formality.
Seeing Mu Jin drunk really startled Qing'er. She just hoped that she wouldn't be discovered when she returned to the palace, otherwise she would be punished by Su Yuntian.
The carriage arrived at the back gate of the Yunwang Mansion, and Qing'er helped Mu Jin down from the carriage.
From a distance, their arm-in-arm and swaying posture was quite an eyesore.
And just then, someone saw them. This person was none other than Shen Qianqian's maid, Cuixiang.
Cuixiang was overjoyed, as if she had found gold and silver treasures, and quickly ran back to Qiushuiyuan.
Tonight, Su Yuntian and Shen Qianqian happened to be both at Qiushui Garden, their rooms lit by enchanting candlelight, and the two were making love behind closed doors.
Cuixiang stood by the window and heard the intimate sounds inside. She was considering whether to report back another day.
Suddenly, Shen Qianqian, struggling to keep her soft and seductive voice steady, asked, "Who's outside?"
Cuixiang quickly replied, "Consort, it was this servant."
"What is it that you need to tell me now?"
Cuixiang said, "Just now, I saw the Princess and Qing'er at the back door. They seemed to have drunk quite a bit of wine. The two of them were even arm in arm, swaying as they came back from the back door."
Upon hearing Cui Xiang's words, Su Yuntian's eyes darkened: "Coming home drunk late at night, she doesn't want her usual dignified position as Princess Yun anymore, does she?"
Seeing Su Yuntian's unpredictable mood, Shen Qianqian scolded Cuixiang: "It's so dark, don't talk nonsense if you didn't see clearly. How could my sister be that kind of person? Even if she drank, she went to Mother's place this morning. Perhaps Mother used a little bit in her palace."
Cuixiang immediately replied, "Her Highness Consort De said yesterday that she would punish the Princess for her disrespect, so how could she have kept her for a meal? Besides, the palace gates have already been closed. If the Princess were returning from the palace, she should have arrived at the Prince's residence long ago. I dare to swear on my life that not a single word I have said is false."
Distracted by Cui Xiang's words, Su Yuntian and Shen Qianqian lost their original interest.
Su Yuntian sat up in bed, put on his clothes, and prepared to leave.
Shen Qianqian took his hand with her delicate fingers, her eyes sparkling with spring as she asked, "Your Highness, are you leaving tonight?"
Su Yuntian turned his head and said softly, "You should rest well. I suddenly remembered that I have some official business to attend to. I'll come and keep you company again tomorrow."
Su Yuntian ignored Mu Jin's drunken return home late, but then, as if possessed, he wandered to the Green Bamboo Courtyard.
When Su Yuntian arrived at the Green Bamboo Courtyard, he was surprised to find that he had somehow ended up there.
As for Mu Jin, she was still a little tipsy, but fortunately, she was still quite composed tonight. She simply sat on the veranda with her legs bent, leaned her head against a pillar, smiled, and hummed a little tune softly.
Beside them was a hangover tea that Qing'er had the maids prepare. As Qing'er was feeding Mu Jin the hangover tea sip by sip, Su Yuntian walked into the Green Bamboo Courtyard with a gloomy expression.
The maids and servants in the courtyard were all taken aback when they saw Su Yuntian enter! After all, the number of times the prince had taken the initiative to enter the Green Bamboo Courtyard could be counted on one hand.
The maids all hoped that Princess Mu Jin could get along better with the prince, so the maid quickly and nimbly stepped forward, pulled Qing'er back into the room, and tightly closed the door.
Mu Jin ignored Su Yuntian's presence and continued humming softly to herself.
Seeing Mu Jin like this, Su Yuntian felt very annoyed. Mu Jin didn't react at all when she saw him.
Today, Shen Qianqian fainted in the Green Bamboo Courtyard. He saw disgust and loathing in Mu Jin's eyes. For the entire day, he tormented himself by repeatedly repeating the look Mu Jin gave him.
Su Yuntian felt that he couldn't let go of the way Mu Jin treated him, simply because he was always the one ignoring Mu Jin, how could Mu Jin ignore him?
Thinking of everything that had happened recently, and hearing what Cui Xiang said tonight, Su Yuntian immediately wanted to confront Mu Jin.
Just then, Mu Jin raised her hand, poured a cup of hangover tea, and said to him with a slight raised eyebrow.
"Shouldn't you be enjoying a cozy time with your beauty at this hour? How come you've managed to find time to come here and cause me trouble?"
"She must be possessed by an evil spirit," Su Yuntian thought, swallowing back the words he was about to use to attack Mu Jin.
He snorted and sat down, asking indifferently, "Where did you go today?"
Mu Jin didn't shy away from the topic and slowly explained, "Today, I went into the palace to chat with Consort De. When I left the palace, I saw that it was still early, so I went for a stroll."
"Have you been shopping until now?"
Mu Jin rubbed her temples, her face flushed with intoxication, as if she herself were a fine, pure wine.
"Ah~~ I almost forgot, I met a handsome man at the palace gate. He gave me a lot of jewelry, and then we drank some wine together. I must have gotten drunk afterwards, I vaguely remember him..."
The teacup that Su Yuntian had just picked up shattered with a crash. Mu Jin, completely oblivious to his anger, turned her head to look at him with an indifferent smile.
He said, "Go on."
Mu Jin said playfully, "Guess what happens next."
Su Yuntian knew that Mu Jin's return this time was very different from before. The look in her eyes when she looked at him was no longer one of love. He had seen how she loved him before, so he knew very well that Mu Jin did not love him now.
After returning to the capital, he invited her back to his residence several times, but she declined each time. He thought that after exiling Mu Jin to Hanshan Village for a year, she would realize her mistake and would no longer make things difficult for Shen Qianqian.
Marrying Mu Jin was indeed a mistake he had made! He hated the Mu family and Mu Jin, so he didn't give her the full respect due to a princess in this palace.
But he didn't think there was anything wrong with it. She should accept whatever he gave her, so how could he allow her to resist?
