When Mu Jin entered the medicine tent, she saw that Eleven was lying on the ground with his eyes closed and his face pale. There were cuts on his wrists from a sharp weapon.
Mu Jin immediately ordered someone to take Eleven back to his bed in the tent to rest, and had someone bring gauze to bandage Eleven's wounds.
Mu Jin took Eleven's pulse and found that Eleven suffered from a deficiency of qi and blood.
Clearly, this blood and qi depletion is closely related to the repeated cuts on Eleven's wrist. Looking at the wound on Eleven's wrist, Mu Jin couldn't help but frown.
Mu Jin knew that ordinary people could not easily hurt Eleven, so it could only be Eleven himself who did it. But why would he do such a thing?
That night, Mu Jin was harassed by Su Yuntian. After Eleven saved her, she hasn't spoken to Eleven for the past few days. It wasn't intentional; they were both busy treating patients.
However, Mu Jin also knew that Shiyi would come to her tent every night, but he just didn't come in to greet her.
Mu Jin didn't know exactly how long Eleven stood in front of her tent each night before leaving, because Eleven would always fall asleep quickly after arriving, exhausted from a long day's work.
After feeding Eleven a tonic soup to replenish her qi and blood, Mu Jin sat beside Eleven, waiting for her to wake up.
Gradually, Mu Jin's eyelids grew heavy after a busy day. Her head drooped unconsciously, and she slowly leaned against Eleven's bedside and fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, Eleven slowly woke up. He slowly opened his eyes, gently moved his fingers, raised his hand and looked at it. He found that his wrist had been wrapped with gauze to stop the bleeding, and Mu Jin was sleeping soundly by his bedside.
The soft light shone on Mu Jin's face, casting a gentle glow on her features.
Looking at Mu Jin keeping watch for him, Eleven felt a little unreal. A sweet feeling welled up in his heart, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up slightly.
Looking at the sleeping Mu Jin, Eleven reached out his hand, wanting to help Mu Jin brush away the hair covering her face. But when his hand was halfway up, he seemed to think of something. He slowly withdrew his hand from Mu Jin's face and sighed softly.
Mu Jin was half asleep when she seemed to hear a soft sigh, which startled her awake. She sat up groggily and found that Eleven was awake and looking at her with a gentle expression.
Mu Jin smiled slightly at Eleven, picked up the warm water from the bedside, and poured it for Eleven.
When Shiyi saw Mu Jin pour him water, he was flattered and hurriedly said no while trying to sit up in bed. However, due to blood loss and lack of rest for several days, a strong dizziness made him fall back onto the bed.
Seeing Eleven fall back onto the bed, Mu Jin was a little angry. She handed Eleven some water and said irritably, "You're so weak, you should just lie in bed."
Upon hearing Mu Jin's words, Eleven blushed, revealing a hint of embarrassment. He took the water from Mu Jin and said, "Thank you, Miss."
Mu Jin sat back down in her chair, watching Eleven sip her water, while secretly observing Mu Jin's expression.
Seeing Eleven being so cautious, Mu Jin couldn't help but find it amusing. Eleven's fear of making her angry was somewhat like a child making a mistake and being afraid of being punished by their parents.
But when Mu Jin saw Eleven's injured wrist again, and how difficult it was for him to even get out of bed, the smile on her face slowly faded.
Mu Jin couldn't help but look into Eleven's eyes and ask, "How did you get the injury on your wrist?"
Shiyi knew that Mu Jin would ask this question sooner or later, but when Mu Jin asked it, he still couldn't help but freeze for a moment.
"I accidentally cut myself while cutting the medicinal herbs," Eleven said, not daring to look at Mu Jin.
Hearing Eleven's clumsy lie, Mu Jin couldn't help but smile.
"Today I received a letter from Qing'er from inside the city. She said that she gave the medicine to the infected people in the city according to our prescription, and it was effective. However, compared with the rapid recovery of the seriously ill infected people outside the city, the recovery of the seriously ill infected people in the city was slow, and several seriously ill people even died. On the other hand, none of the seriously ill people we treated outside the city died. She asked us if we used the same prescription."
Upon hearing Mu Jin's words, Eleven lowered his eyes.
As Mu Jin spoke, she handed the letter Qing'er had written to her to Eleven.
"You're in charge of brewing the medicinal herbs outside the city. Take a look at the herbs being brewed outside the city. How is the brewing method different from that inside the city?"
Shiyi looked at the letter Mu Jin handed him and slowly reached out to take it.
After a long while, he said in a low voice that the proportions of the medicinal materials and the brewing time were the same, and there was no difference.
Mu Jin scoffed: "That would be strange. Perhaps the situation is more serious for the people inside the city than for those outside?"
Eleven sensed Mu Jin's disbelief, but he still nodded reluctantly and replied with a "Mm!"
Mu Jin was furious inside. She had already explained everything, but Eleven was still stubbornly refusing to tell her the truth. Although she was unhappy, she didn't show it on her face.
"In any case, there are no signs of further infection among the people inside and outside the city. I believe that in a few days, I will be able to achieve my goal and receive the emperor's reward."
Seeing Mu Jin's happy smile again, Eleven thought that Mu Jin would no longer press him about how he was injured, so he couldn't help but feel relieved and smiled as well. But before he could smile for long, he saw Mu Jin stand up and smile at him.
"Once the plague is resolved, you no longer need to follow me. Since you came to my side, you have helped me a lot, and I will give you enough money. If you have any other requests, you can tell me, and I will fulfill them to the best of my ability. Then you can leave on your own."
