Mu Jin held a wild fruit in her hand and ate it with relish, gazing at the valley in front of her as it gradually changed over the past year.
The bamboo houses not far ahead were designed by Mu Jin. She built them according to the characteristics of the Dai ethnic group in Yunnan. They are moisture-proof and can be used to keep small animals or store work supplies.
Mu Jin also had her own bamboo house, which was about a hundred meters away from the other slaves' bamboo houses. She was aloof and rarely interacted with the people in the valley unless absolutely necessary, except for certain holidays.
For her daily needs, Lai Pozi had to deliver food, clothing, and shelter to her outside her bamboo house on time. She preferred to be alone.
In front of the bamboo house are large fields of rice, corn, and mulberry trees, all of which symbolize a vibrant and prosperous scene of peaceful and happy life.
Here, the slaves of the Prince Yun's Mansion live even better than they did in the mansion before. At least they have freedom and don't have to worry about being beaten or scolded for not serving their masters well.
If you were to ask them one day if they were willing to leave this place and return to the Yun Prince's Mansion, they would probably be extremely unwilling.
Normally, Mu Jin likes to go up the mountain alone to collect herbs and hunt, but occasionally she will go hunting with the men for a few days.
They had explored almost all the mountains within a hundred miles of the valley.
The most dangerous encounter was with a tiger. That time, it almost cost Mu Jin and the others present their lives.
Fortunately, they often went hunting in the mountains, which gave them hunting skills, and Mu Jin also learned kung fu when she was a special agent in the real world. With the help of everyone, they finally hunted down and killed the tiger.
On that day, the slaves would no longer see her as a delicate princess who never lifted a finger.
Although she lay in bed for several days afterward, the slaves no longer tried to dissuade her from going hunting alone in the mountains. After all, if it weren't for Mu Jin, the others might not have been able to escape the tiger's jaws.
"Your Highness, don't always climb so high, be careful not to fall. Come quickly, take a look at the color of this batch of fabric I dyed for you, what do you think?"
Granny Lai stood under the tree where Mu Jin was lying and shouted at Mu Jin.
Granny Lai rambled on about how she and the other women had used the juice of mountain flowers to dye two bolts of cloth. One was pink, and the other was pale yellow.
"Your Highness, I'll use these fabrics to make you a padded jacket and skirt, and embroider eight peony medallions on them. When you wear it, you'll look as beautiful as a celestial being!" Granny Lai said with a smile.
Mu Jin climbed down from the tree using the branches, looked at the cloth in Granny Lai's hand, and raised an eyebrow.
He said to Granny Lai, "Please make sure you follow the clothes I'm wearing!" Then he walked towards the bamboo house.
“I’ve already made the outfit you’re wearing, but the Princess will eventually return to the Prince’s residence. It’s best to have a few more dresses made in advance. Otherwise, what kind of impression will it be if everyone sees the Princess dressed like this when she returns?”
When Granny Lai said this, Mu Jin had already walked about ten meters away. Just as Granny Lai was looking disappointed, Mu Jin said casually, "Then do as you wish. By the way, I'm going into the mountains to gather some medicinal herbs. You can leave dinner at my place!"
Granny Lai immediately replied happily, "Yes, yes, I learned embroidery from the embroiderers in the manor for a short time. I guarantee you'll be satisfied with the result."
Mu Jin walked towards the bamboo house with her back to her, waving her hand as she did so to indicate that she understood.
Mu Jin returned to the bamboo house, took the food and water in the bamboo tube, and headed into the mountains with her bow and arrows.
Today she is going to the mountains to collect enough herbs. There are many herbs in the mountains that are useful on a daily basis, such as Agrimonia pilosa, Typha pollen, and Panax notoginseng, which are all medicinal materials for removing blood stasis and stopping bleeding.
These medicinal herbs were a daily necessity for her and the people in the valley who often worked and hunted.
Bringing a bow and arrow was for personal safety, since there were many large wild animals in the mountains.
Mu Jin casually poked at the grass at her feet with her bow, partly to scare away any snakes, and partly to search for medicinal herbs.
She collected many herbs along the way and threw them into the basket on her back. As the light in the forest gradually dimmed, she realized that she had been so focused on collecting herbs that she had forgotten the time to return.
As night fell, it would take another hour to walk back the way we came, and large wild animals were likely to appear at night, so it was not safe.
So she decided to take a more rugged path back, which, although difficult, would at least save her half the journey.
This path is not only difficult to traverse, but also teeming with wild animals, so the people in the valley usually like to set hunting traps along it.
Mu Jin had once set traps with them on that path, so she knew which parts of the path were dangerous and which were safe.
Mu Jin walked carefully along the rugged mountain path when suddenly she smelled a faint, almost imperceptible stench of blood in the air.
Less than 10 meters away from her was a trap they had set before, and at a glance, half of the weeds used to cover the trap entrance were gone, proving that prey had fallen in.
Mu Jin thought happily, she never expected to encounter such an unexpected gain by taking a shortcut. She quickly took off the basket containing herbs from her body and excitedly ran towards the trap with the ladder, rope and bow and arrow.
Mu Jin arrived at the trap, parted the remaining weeds, and peered into the hole. She found a dark mass lying at the bottom of the hole.
Because it was too dark, she wasn't sure what kind of prey was at the bottom of the trap.
She found a long branch next to the trap, lay down by the entrance, and stretched the branch into the trap. When she parted the weeds, she discovered that there was an injured man lying inside.
