Mu Jin choked on Su Yi's words and kept coughing, while Su Muxue patted her back. Zhao Yefan also took a handkerchief to wipe the tea that Mu Jin had sprayed all over Su Yi's face.
Su Yi brushed Zhao Yefan's hand away, took a handkerchief, and carefully wiped the tea stains off his face and body.
Mu Jin finally calmed down and, seeing Su Yi's smug grin, couldn't help but give an awkward smile.
"How did King Yi know this?"
Upon hearing Su Yi say that, Su Muxue couldn't help but feel curious.
"Did Ah Jin really go through all sorts of hardships to save Fifth Brother? Then you are Fifth Brother's savior. Ah Jin, you are too amazing. Not only did you save Fifth Brother, but this time you also saved the people inside and outside the city. No wonder Father gave you so many rewards this time and even allowed you to divorce Su Yuntian."
When Mu Jin heard Su Muxue's praise, she couldn't help but smile perfunctorily: "Your Highness is too kind. It's all I should do."
"I haven't yet congratulated Miss Mu on regaining her single status."
When Zhao Yefan heard Su Muxue say that Mu Jin had divorced Su Yuntian, he couldn't help but think of the sensational news from yesterday in the capital about the Princess Consort of Yun divorcing the Prince of Yun. If he hadn't had to go to discuss an important business deal, he really would have liked to go to the Prince of Yun's mansion to take a look.
Knowing that Su Yi and his sister had made an appointment with Mu Jin, I shamelessly insisted on coming along. After all, she was the first woman in history to divorce her husband, and she even divorced a prince. I had to come and see her and offer my congratulations, just for her admirable spirit.
When Mu Jin heard Zhao Yefan say that, she simply nodded and thanked him.
The carriage drove out of the city gate as the four people inside chatted amongst themselves.
The lockdown lasted for more than a month, which made the literati and scholars in the capital very bored. Taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather, the number of people coming and going outside the city was more than double that of previous years.
Some of them talked about how beautiful the spring scenery was, some literary figures recited poems and drank wine in the face of the beautiful scenery, some brought their families and children to play among the flowers, and some young men and women were even seen holding hands and pulling each other in the shade of the trees with a touch of ambiguity.
The carriage stopped beside a grove of trees. Ling Feng lifted the curtain, and a gust of fresh air entered, filling the air with an intoxicating floral fragrance.
As the four of them stepped off the carriage, they were greeted by a scene full of spring. Pear blossoms, white as snow and as pure as clouds, drifted lightly down from the branches with the gentle breeze. The petals danced in the wind, creating a scene reminiscent of a fairyland.
The servants of the Prince Yi's mansion found a grassy spot with excellent location, spread a thick carpet on it, and took out a table and food from the carriage to set it up. The four of them then sat down on the carpet.
With a jingle, the last carriage jingled as the dancers moved, the bells at its feet ringing with each step.
Mu Jin looked in the direction of the bell and saw several women dressed in white carrying zithers walking towards the grassy area in front of them.
Mu Jin glanced at the group of dancers and raised an eyebrow, thinking to herself, "That Su Yi really knows how to play games."
The four of them drank fine wine. The Baisha dancers were truly excellent, dancing gracefully to the rhythm of the music. Sometimes they lowered their heads shyly, and sometimes they raised their heads and spread their wings. They danced with the petals flying all over the mountain, like elves among the mountains. When the dance ended, Mu Jin couldn't help but applaud.
"Where did King Yi find these beauties? They're truly exceptional; they dance even better than the courtesans of the Rouge Pavilion," Zhao Yefan said with a smile.
Su Yi smiled and said, "If you like, you can take them all with you when you go back."
Before Zhao Yefan could reply, Su Muxue became unhappy.
Su Muxue frowned and said, "Fifth Brother sent these people here to make a lot of noise. I can't even have a few more words with Ajin. All of you, get out of here."
After Su Muxue finished speaking, she dismissed the group of dancers. Several of them, who had initially intended to fawn over Su Yi and Zhao Yefan, left reluctantly after seeing Su Muxue leave.
"Oh no, a trip without singing and dancing feels like something's missing?"
The people of Dongyue are known for their open-mindedness, especially royalty and noblemen who often bring singing girls along on their outings. Therefore, when Su Yi was going on his trip, the steward of the Yi King's residence prepared everything.
He hadn't thought much of it before, but with Mu Jin around today, Su Yi found the presence of these dancers somewhat of an eyesore.
Su Yi replied to Zhao Yefan with a smile, "It's all yours. You can look at it however you like when we get back tonight."
"No way, I want them all. Nobody can take them from me." Su Muxue glared at Zhao Yefan with unwavering determination.
"Tsk~ I didn't intend to take it either."
Hearing Zhao Yefan's words, Su Muxue's expression softened slightly. At this moment, Mu Jin whispered a few words in Su Muxue's ear, and Su Muxue blushed and scolded Mu Jin a couple of times before regaining the pleasant look she had on the way.
Seeing this scene, Su Yi couldn't help but smile with an ambiguous meaning.
"Miss Mu is now single again. What are your plans for the future?" Zhao Yefan asked.
I'll be staying in Beijing for the foreseeable future, but I don't know what will happen after that.
"Ah Jin told me that after the divorce, she would leave the capital to see the beautiful landscapes. Will she still go now?" Su Muxue asked.
"Of course, but I have some things to take care of recently, so I won't be leaving Beijing for the time being."
"If you leave the capital, I think you'll be lonely. How about I arrange a matchmaking event for you, so you can find a good husband and stay in the capital?"
Upon hearing this, Mu Jin quickly said, "No, I haven't had enough fun yet. I've only been away from Su Yuntian for a few days. What would I be thinking to go and find another man to marry?"
Su Muxue looked regretful upon hearing this: "Your coachman is handsome and skilled in martial arts, but it's a pity that his social status is lacking."
“Your Highness is mistaken. If it is a man that I, Mu Jin, have set my sights on, I will marry him without hesitation, regardless of his status.”
"What kind of man would Miss Mu favor?" Su Yi asked with a perfect smile.
"We'll talk about it when it happens, but now is not the time to discuss this. You three are getting on in years, so you can be a little anxious."
At this point, Su Muxue couldn't help but glance at Zhao Yefan. Besides Zhao Yefan, Mu Jin and Su Yi also saw this glance, and the two exchanged a knowing look and smiled.
As the sun set, the four of them stood up and boarded the carriage to return to the city. On the way, Mu Jin casually asked Zhao Yefan where in the country they could buy some rice, which was in short supply due to the plague.
"Miss Mu's residence doesn't have many people, so what you need can be purchased from the army. If you're asking about these things..." Zhao Yefan asked.
Mu Jin smiled and said, "Having experienced the food shortage in the capital, I thought it would be good to stock up on some food, just in case."
Su Yi glanced at Mu Jin, a smile playing on his lips, remaining noncommittal as he quietly listened to their conversation.
"We can buy some from the south, but not much. After all, food is scarce in all the prefectures and counties right now, and it would be exhausting for the south to supply so many prefectures and counties in the country."
"What should we do?" Mu Jin frowned.
"It is estimated that in the current land of China, only the Southern Shu Kingdom has the most abundant and cheapest food, but it is a pity that other countries have difficulty buying their rice."
"The Southern Shu Kingdom?" Mu Jin murmured.
"Yes, in the southern part of our Dongyue Kingdom, the land is fertile, the scenery is beautiful, and the produce is plentiful. It is a good place."
