The carriage swayed and rattled as it traveled through the rolling hills.
Mu Jin sat in the carriage for a while, and inevitably began to feel a little bored.
She would occasionally lift the carriage curtain to gaze at the distant mountain scenery, but to her eyes, these mountains were no different from each other, and as she looked, she gradually lost interest.
She lowered the carriage curtain and looked down at Su Yi, who was resting his head on her lap. This man, whom she couldn't shake off no matter when she tried.
Su Yi was sleeping soundly, as if he hadn't had a proper rest in a long time.
Mu Jin couldn't help but feel annoyed, resenting herself for letting Su Yi rest his head on her lap because of a moment of weakness, which caused her legs to be so numb that she had almost lost all feeling.
Mu Jin gently moved her numb legs, a tiny movement that startled Su Yi, who had just been fast asleep.
Su Yi opened his eyes. Seeing that he was still resting his head on Mu Jin's lap, he smiled and was about to speak to Mu Jin when he noticed that Mu Jin seemed uncomfortable and was slightly frowning.
He seemed to realize something, and hurriedly sat up, asking Mu Jin somewhat guiltily.
"But I made your legs go numb from using this as a pillow?"
Mu Jin replied irritably, "What do you think? I've been using this as a pillow for two hours straight, and I haven't been able to move at all."
Su Yi touched his nose, feeling a little guilty. He had a headache and was feeling drowsy from being in the sun outside the carriage, so he and Mu Jin pretended to be pitiful in order to get into the carriage.
He used the excuse of feeling unwell to try and get back with Mu Jin, intending to lie on her body. He thought Mu Jin would refuse, but to his surprise, Mu Jin took pity on him and acquiesced to his unreasonable request.
It was like a pie falling from the sky, making him feel a little giddy. He originally thought he would just rest for a while and then stop, but since it was rare to be so close to Mu Jin, he was reluctant to get up.
And so, Su Yi accidentally fell asleep, and slept for more than two hours. Thinking about this, he couldn't help but feel sorry for Mu Jin.
Su Yi said with heartache, "It's all my fault." After saying that, he quickly reached out to rub Mu Jin's thigh, but Mu Jin stopped him.
"Don't touch me, my legs are numb."
After Mu Jin finished speaking, she frowned and gently lifted her feet, trying to stretch her legs to relieve the numbness. However, the blood stasis in her legs had been too long, and the blood could not circulate. As soon as she moved, the numbness and pain in her legs made her gasp instantly.
Su Yi realized he had gone too far this time and couldn't help but feel remorseful. He didn't know what to do and said repeatedly, "I'm sorry, A Jin, it's all my fault. I never thought I would sleep for so long. Don't be angry. How about I let you beat me up to vent your anger?"
Mu Jin rolled her eyes at Su Yi: "I'm not as bored as you."
Su Yi gave Mu Jin an awkward smile, a hint of apology in his expression. A gentle breeze blew by, lightly lifting the carriage curtain. Su Yi looked out the window and saw the setting sun slowly sinking below the horizon.
He turned to Mu Jin and asked gently, "It's getting late. Shall we find an inn in the town ahead to rest, or eat on the way and continue our journey?"
Mu Jin replied, "We can't delay any longer. Let's find a place to eat and then continue on our way."
Su Yi thought so too. He lifted the carriage curtain and asked Ling Feng, who was driving, "Where are we now?"
Ling Feng replied, "Reporting to Master, we have just entered the territory of Jizhou."
"Find a place ahead to stop, get some food, rest for a while, and then continue our journey tonight," Su Yi instructed.
"Yes, Master."
Upon receiving the order, Ling Yu slowly drove the carriage to a stop in front of a shady grove of trees.
At this moment, Mu Jin's leg numbness had subsided. Su Yi carefully helped Mu Jin stand up, and then the two of them got off the carriage together.
A small river meandered in front of the carriage.
Su Yi and Mu Jin saw that Ling Feng and Ling Yu had already gone down into the river and were catching fish with their swords.
Mu Jin had been riding in the carriage all day, and her whole body was exhausted from the jostling. Now that her feet were on the ground, she walked around along the riverbank for a while, stretching her limbs.
A cool breeze blew in her face, making her feel refreshed and relaxed.
By the river, Ling Feng and Ling Yu were grilling the fish they had caught on tree branches. They smelled delicious.
Soon, the aroma of grilled fish filled the air, whetting everyone's appetite. The four of them ate the grilled fish with the dry rations they had bought in Fairy Town, and it was quite delicious.
After dinner, Su Yi suggested that Ling Feng and Ling Yu set up cushions and rest for an hour by the roadside next to the carriage, so that they could travel further that night.
Following Su Yi's advice, Ling Feng and Ling Yu quickly set up cushions next to the carriage and went to rest.
It was early summer, but Jeju was much hotter than other prefectures and counties, which made Mu Jin, who had been traveling all day and had just finished eating, feel a bit sticky.
Mu Jin wanted to walk to the riverbank and find a secluded spot to take a bath.
When Su Yi saw Mu Jin carrying a face towel and walking past him, saying she wanted to go for a walk, he knew that Mu Jin wanted to find a place to take a bath.
Su Yi smiled somewhat roguishly and said, "Ah Jin, where are you going? I'm going too."
Mu Jin glared at him: "You're not allowed to come along."
Su Yi, however, shamelessly said, "That won't do. What if you encounter danger in the forest?"
Mu Jin said, "I'll just wash myself by the reeds in front. What danger could there be?"
Su Yi said in a serious tone, "Then I will stand at a distance. If you are in danger, just call out to me."
Mu Jin knew that with Su Yi's personality, if they continued arguing, it would probably be dark before he could even wash himself.
She then warned Su Yi, "You can only stand far away with your back turned. If you dare to peek, I'll chop you up!"
