Chapter 102 Escape

The tall, thin middle-aged man was shocked again. This kid, like him, carried anesthetic powder with him and used dirty tricks when no one was paying attention. He was a good prospect, but it was a pity that he couldn't use him. Otherwise, he would definitely be very useful if he captured him and trained him for a few years.

Song Tantan was dressed in dark colors and, like Song Zhuiyan, always wore her hair in a bun. She spoke and acted in a very casual and uninhibited manner, so the tall, thin middle-aged man did not recognize her as a girl.

Seeing Song Tantan and Taishan lying limply on the ground, Ye Moxun was overwhelmed by a sense of crisis and, without saying a word, sprinkled poison on the two of them.

Before long, the tall, thin middle-aged man and the tall, strong young man turned purple, had difficulty breathing, and collapsed to the ground convulsing.

He then fed Song Tantan and Taishan the antidote. Just as he was about to tie the three people on the ground with a rope, he heard a commotion at the door. Eleven wolfhounds had arrived, having heard Taishan's call to come and provide support.

Because the dogs were making too much noise, Song Zhuiyan and Zhong Qingyi came along too, and were surprised to see three strange men.

"When did these three people enter the village? Where did they come from? Who are they?" Song Zhuiyan asked three questions at a time.

"We just took them down, but haven't interrogated them yet. We'll find out who they are after we ask them." Ye Moxun helped Song Tantan to sit down in the main room, and then came out to look at Taishan. By this time, Taishan had recovered his spirits and returned to his aloof state.

Ye Moxun was very pleased. He said to Song Tantan, "Now you know why I always feed Taishan herbs. After I feed it, it has become extremely immune to drugs. Neither anesthetic nor poison has much effect on it. In time, it will definitely be immune to all poisons."

"Keep bragging. You think it's immune to all poisons? Don't use it as a guinea pig anymore. What if you ruin its health?"

"No, wolves and humans have different constitutions. I'm very careful, nothing will happen if I ride it." Ye Moxun said with a serious expression.

Song Zhuiyan held a knife to the tall, thin man's neck and coldly demanded, "State your name, gender, age, and where you're from?"

The tall, thin middle-aged man twitched a few times, rolled his eyes, and couldn't speak at all. Of course, he didn't hear what Song Zhuiyan asked either. Zhong Qingyi did hear it, but he didn't understand what the word "gender" meant, so he didn't think much of it.

"This person is seriously poisoned and needs the antidote to recover, otherwise we can't question him." Zhong Qingyi had just gotten the antidote from Ye Moxun and fed one to each of the two poisoned people.

Soon their complexions returned to normal, their convulsions stopped, and they were even able to stand up. But as soon as they stood up, Song Zhuiyan kicked them down. "Kneel down and answer me. Behave yourself."

The tall, thin middle-aged man glanced at Song Zhuiyan with a strange look in his eyes, but he quickly lowered his head after just one glance, trying not to let anyone notice his unusual emotions, and said in a serious tone:

"We were originally martial arts practitioners, skilled in martial arts, and lived a relatively carefree life. However, in recent years, natural disasters have been frequent, and several princes and two generals each control their own territory, leading to constant warfare. In the end, it is the common people who suffer."

We, too, have suffered persecution to varying degrees. Because of the war, everywhere was constantly conscripting men and forcibly recruiting soldiers. We were used to a carefree life and didn't want to be driven by others, so we fought with the soldiers in charge. Later, we were constantly chased and killed. Finally, we had nowhere to go, so we ran into the mountains, and somehow we ended up here with you.”

Song Zhuiyan and Zhong Qingyi exchanged a glance, unsure whether they believed him or not. The former followed up with his question: "Are you saying that there's still a war going on outside, the world is in chaos, and the people are barely better off than during a famine year?"

“It’s worse than the disaster years. I thought that after surviving the natural disaster, I could start farming and have hope. But before the external chaos was over, the internal strife continued. So many people died in the disaster years. Many families are left with only the elderly and children. The few who are still able-bodied have been taken away to fight. How much land can the elderly and children farm? Isn’t this driving people to their deaths?” The tall, thin middle-aged man kept his head down as he spoke, making it impossible to see his expression.

"Heroine, we are really not bad people. It's all because of the world that we were forced into this situation. We three had no choice but to stumble into your village. Please, heroes, have mercy on us."

This person actually recognized her as a woman at a glance; he's truly a seasoned veteran.

The tall, thin man was able to tell at a glance that Song Zhuiyan was a woman because he was experienced; a woman's scent is different from a man's, and he could tell just by smelling it.

The reason he didn't recognize Song Tantan as a girl is because many boys look like girls before they develop, and their voices are also childish and indistinguishable from males. Or you could say that he doesn't have pedophilic tendencies and he has no interest in children, regardless of gender.

However, he didn't know that the woman in front of him was just as sensitive as he was. Although Song Zhuiyan had never been married or dated in either of her two lives, she was quite beautiful. Beautiful women always attract the attention of the opposite sex, and regardless of whether they have any ulterior motives towards you, beautiful people and things always receive more attention.

Song Zhuiyan was used to the subtle gazes of others. There were two kinds of men who looked at her: those who admired her and those who were lewd. Women also looked at her in two ways: those who were jealous and those who were envious.

The greasy, middle-aged man with a pointed face and monkey-like features had greedy and repulsive eyes. Even at a time like this, he was still thinking about all sorts of things. It was clear that this bastard was no good.

"I'll give you one more chance. Tell me your name. What is your real identity?" Song Zhuiyan's eyes were as cold as ice shards.

"My name is Chen Linchong, this is my sworn brother Zhao Pingjun, and this is our third brother Zhong Tianba. Everything I say is true, and there is absolutely no falsehood." From beginning to end, the so-called Zhong Tianba remained silent, and whatever Chen Linchong said was law.

Zhao Pingjun remained unconscious, unaware of his fate.

Song Zhuiyan was very dissatisfied with his answer. With a wave of her hand, eleven wolfhounds bared their teeth and surrounded them, as if they were about to devour the three of them alive in the next second.

"I advise you to tell the truth, or you'll be fed to my wolf cubs." Her intuition told her that these three were the kind of people who specialized in murder and robbery, bullying the weak and fearing the strong. Who knows how many innocent people they had killed or how many poor children they had cooked for food.

The more I looked at them, the more I felt these three were sleazy; they must have done something bad.

“We have robbed other people’s property, but we were forced to do so. We have never killed anyone and we have never shed blood. You can believe me.” Chen Linchong suddenly lay down on the ground, and his voice suddenly became high-pitched.

Just as Song Zhuiyan thought to herself, "This is bad," she saw thick smoke billowing in front of her. Everyone couldn't help but cough, and the wolf cubs also growled and paced around restlessly.

When the smoke cleared, Chen Linchong was nowhere to be seen on the ground. Only Zhao Pingjun and Zhong Tianba remained. Zhao Pingjun kept his eyes closed and did not move, while Zhong Tianba looked around blankly, clearly not expecting that his second brother would abandon him and his eldest brother and run away on his own.

"Find him quickly, we must catch him before he takes hostages." It would be dangerous if any villagers were taken hostage by him.

Taishan howled, and the other wolfhounds, receiving the command, ran out to find the person.

Wolfhounds have a keen sense of smell, and no matter how well Chen Linchong tried to hide, he couldn't escape their noses.
