Besides Ye Moxun and Song Tantan, there was no one else in the government office except for three dogs. The dogs had already rushed into Song Tantan's room, but they hadn't found her.
The second child ran outside and let out a mournful cry towards Ye Moxun. Ye Moxun's heart clenched, and he screamed, "Tantan!" His voice was sorrowful and pained.
In a fit of rage, Ye Moxun used the most lethal poison. A quarter of an hour later, all of the hundred or so men in black collapsed to the ground, howling and rolling around. Their screams echoed throughout Xiangyang City, sending chills down the spines of everyone who heard them.
"Tantan, Tantan, how are you?" Ye Moxun rushed into Song Tantan's room and found the bed empty and no one in sight.
Ye Moxun: "..."
His tense expression froze. He pursed his lips, gritted his teeth, and shouted, "Song Tantan, come out here! Are you deaf? I've called you so many times and you still can't hear me? You can't even answer once?"
Um?
The person who was sleeping soundly slowly woke up and seemed to hear someone calling her. It sounded like Ye Moxun, and he seemed very angry.
Rubbing her eyes, Song Tantan, with her long, messy hair, left the space. She had entered the space while lying in bed, so she was still in bed when she came out.
Seeing the person suddenly appear on the bed, Ye Moxun ran to the bedside and carefully looked her over from head to toe. She was perfectly fine and sleeping very comfortably, seemingly unaware of what had happened.
"Hmph!" Ye Moxun felt that he had been wasting his emotions and worrying for nothing. He was furious. He was the clown himself.
"What's wrong? Who are you giving a hard time to?" Song Tantan jumped out of bed, looking completely bewildered. She glanced at the sky outside; it was still dark, probably no earlier than 3 AM.
What's wrong with you? Running to her room in the middle of the night to yell at her, are you pretending to be a ghost?
"Awoo." The second brother ran over and saw her. His eyes lit up at first, but then he glared at her sideways and let out an angry howl.
What did she do to deserve this? Everyone's giving her the cold shoulder.
After sitting on the bed for a while, Song Tantan's mind became fully clear. She heard screams coming from outside and was startled. A thief had broken in.
I quickly got dressed and ran outside, and then I saw a bunch of men in black lying on the ground in the yard. They were all rolling around on the ground, some of them banging their heads against the ground, and several of them were wrestling with each other, as if they were determined to kill each other.
Seeing the black-clad men's faces were a dark purple, Song Tantan realized they were all poisoned. She looked up at Ye Moxun, only to see him standing there with a somber expression, not even glancing at her.
"Ah Xun, what happened?" Song Tantan ran over, grabbed his arm, and shook it. "I didn't expect Duke to make a move tonight. It's been too cold these past few days, so I stayed home and slept. I'm sorry, I was sleeping so soundly that I didn't hear your cries for help."
She spoke very vaguely, saying she was hiding at home sleeping, without directly mentioning her location. She always acts cautiously in front of outsiders.
"If I wait for you to come and save me, will I still be alive?" Ye Moxun still didn't look at her, only uttering a few words through gritted teeth.
"Of course you don't need to rely on me. You have Taishan's three dogs and the powerful poison powder. I didn't even need to come here to rescue me. I hadn't come out, so you must have thought something had happened to me, which is why you came to my room immediately."
"I know everything, Ah Xun. I'm so touched. You're so good to me, I know it all too well." Song Tantan repeatedly said nice things, coaxing and humbly trying to appease her.
Seeing her sincere attitude, Ye Moxun's expression softened considerably. He was pleased with her, thinking that she had a conscience, knew his good intentions, and hadn't let him down.
"What about Ah Xun and the others?" Song Tantan asked, trying to change the subject when she saw that he was no longer angry.
Ye Moxun glanced at her first, then at the man in black on the ground, and said in a low voice, "Noisy."
It's unclear whether this refers to Song Tantan or the man in black.
Song Tan choked for a moment, feeling that someone was just complaining about her being noisy. She immediately puffed up her cheeks, shook off his arm, and didn't want to talk to him anymore. He was taking advantage of her.
Ye Moxun glanced at the released arm, said nothing, but took out a pill and lit it. Within a few breaths, the man in black on the ground was motionless, lying on the ground without moving.
"Dead?" Song Tantan asked.
Ye Moxun: "He's not dead." Then he went back to his room and slammed the door shut.
"Your temper is getting worse and worse. I'm the only one who's going to tolerate you like this. If you don't change your bad temper, you'll never be able to find a wife." Song Tantan muttered in a low voice. She was in the wrong tonight because she couldn't help at the crucial moment.
With so many men in black infiltrating the government office at the same time, Ye Moxun might have lost his life if things went wrong. If it weren't for Taishan and the second and third brothers, plus his expertise in poison, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
This time it was her fault. She was too comfortable and hid in the space, completely unaware of what was happening outside. When she came out, everything was over. No wonder Ye Moxun was angry. If it were her, she would definitely be even angrier.
Song Tantan stood at the door for a while, then yawned and prepared to go back to her room to catch up on sleep. Just as she turned around, she heard Ye Moxun's door open again, and she turned around abruptly.
"Are you going out? Where are you going?" Shouldn't you catch up on your sleep first and talk about other things when it's light out?
"Go to the city gate. Duke's army is probably already there." He'd held back for so long, and now that they'd sent men in black to assassinate him tonight, it couldn't be that simple.
Even if the men in black couldn't kill him, they at least held him back. This was naturally the best time to attack. The only capable leader in Xiangyang City, Boss Cao, was dead, and the other minor leaders were no match for him. They had no other skills besides oppressing the people.
