Chapter 271 Suspicion

"Oh no, I'm being paralyzed by a ghost and can't get up. Holy crap, are there really ghosts in this world? Oh no, I can't even enter my spatial dimension, what should I do?"

Song Tantan was sweating profusely with anxiety. At this moment, she felt that her whole body was being pressed down, and her upper body was also being suppressed except for her head. Was she really seeing a ghost?

"Help! Ye Moxun, Moxun, come save me! Don't sleep! If you keep sleeping, your wife will die!" Song Tantan shouted for help.

"Wake up, Tantan, what's wrong with you? Are you having a nightmare?" Ye Moxun called out several times but couldn't wake her up. After thinking for a moment, he took out a pill, lit it, and as the incense entered the person's nostrils, she finally calmed down and stopped flailing her limbs and acting wildly in her dream.

"Tantan, wake up! What nightmare were you having? You were fighting to the death with someone in your dream?" Ye Moxun wiped the sweat from her face with a handkerchief, feeling very sorry for her.

After waiting a while longer, Song Tantan felt that no one was suppressing her anymore, and the female ghost had disappeared. She felt much more relaxed and tried to open her eyes. This time, she successfully opened her eyes and saw the dim candlelight and a magnified handsome face. The owner of the handsome face was looking at her with worried eyes.

"You're finally awake. Why did you suddenly have a nightmare?" She never had nightmares before. How could someone so carefree have inner demons so easily?

"Ah Xun, cough," she said, only to find her throat was terribly dry. "Water, I want to drink water."

Damn it, was her soul almost stolen by a female ghost?

Ye Moxun got up and poured a bowl of water from the teapot on the table next to him. He helped her drink half a bowl, which moistened her throat. Song Tantan's mind became much clearer. She shook her head and sat up in bed in a flash, as if she had suddenly come back to life.

"Oh my god, that scared me to death! Ah Xun, I had such a terrible nightmare. Is this inn unclean? Or did someone die in this room and their vengeful spirit is haunting the place, coming to seek justice from the guests or trying to kill them?" Thinking about the scene in her dream, she couldn't help but imagine a whole bunch of things.

Ye Moxun frowned slightly, thinking it was not impossible. Otherwise, how could someone as reckless as Tantan have nightmares and be haunted by a female ghost? There was indeed a lot of information in this, and this inn was very suspicious.

"Let's go to my room. We'll stay at a different inn tomorrow." After thinking for a moment, Ye Moxun made his decision immediately.

"Let's go to your room now. We can't stay here any longer; the yin energy is too strong." Song Tantan was full of energy again. She quickly got out of bed, put on her shoes, and walked towards the door.

"Dong-dong, dong, dong, the weather is dry, be careful with fire." It was the fourth watch of the night, and the watchman's voice echoed in the long night, making Song Tantan's heart pound.

She had never been so scared before; the dream she just had was so real that it terrified her.

She gripped Ye Moxun's hand tightly, trembling all over, "Quick, quick, get back to the room! This is terrifying! I'm telling you, this inn is definitely problematic, it's definitely not clean, the owner is definitely a black-hearted person."

Ye Moxun put his arm around her and led her into his guest room. He quickly closed and bolted the door, and the person in his arms trembled. "We need to put a talisman on this door to prevent unclean things from coming in. Hurry, we have to do something."

As she spoke, she broke free from his embrace and hurriedly produced a bowl of glutinous rice, several kilograms of garlic, and what looked like a meter-tall Buddha statue from a supermarket, which she placed directly opposite the door.

"Where did this Buddha statue come from?" Ye Mo asked, bewildered.

“Oh, they’re in the supermarket. In my hometown, it’s a custom for locals to put up Buddha statues in their shops. It’s believed that this will bring them peace and good fortune,” Song Tantan replied quickly.

Actually, neither she nor her aunt really believed in this, and they rarely burned incense or prayed to Buddha. But now that they were desperate, they decided to do something to soothe their frightened hearts.

She figured that if ghosts really existed, then this Buddha statue must also be useful, capable of suppressing evil spirits. Everything in the world has its counterpart, and since this Buddha statue was readily available, she might as well just move it out and use it.

As for glutinous rice and garlic, Xu had watched too many of Uncle Ying's zombie movies before. Uncle Ying always needed these two things when he performed rituals. Since they were available in the supermarket, she took them out.

"With so many 'magical artifacts' protecting you, you should feel at ease now. Go to bed and rest." Ye Moxun was both amused and exasperated, and could only let her do as she pleased.

"Shh, shh, shh." Song Tantan grabbed a handful of glutinous rice and sprinkled it on the door, explaining, "If anything gets stuck on the door, it will be kicked out. And if I put this garlic at the door, it will be even safer."

Save your breath. With such a large Buddha statue here, even the most powerful evil spirits should be repelled thousands of miles away.

After Song Tantan finished her fuss, she lay on the bed and saw Ye Moxun sitting at the table slowly drinking water. She beckoned him over, "A-Xun, don't sleep on the floor anymore. Lie down with me. I'm scared."

There wasn't a trace of fear in her expression; this girl just loves to stir things up. "You go to sleep first, I'll sleep later."

"No, you have to come and stay with me. I'm sleepy. I'm afraid that if I fall asleep, some strange voice will call me again. It's so noisy, it's making my head buzz. It's also pressing on my body, and I'm being haunted by the dream and can't get out of it."

Thinking back to when he heard her moaning and groaning in the next room, which was very unusual and hadn't quieted down for a long time, he was worried that something had happened, so he got up and went to check on her. He found her covered in sweat and struggling wildly with her hands and feet.

She didn't even notice someone coming in and walking to the bedside. Her face was scrunched up like a little old man, trapped in a nightmare. Ye Moxun put down his teacup, walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, gently patting her back. "Sleep, don't worry, I'll be sitting right here."

Song Tantan was lying on her side with her face facing outwards. Seeing that he was just sitting, she tugged at his hand and said, "You'll get tired sitting like this. You can lie down next to me. It's okay, I don't mind."

She worried that once she fell asleep, he would go and sleep on the floor, and since he wasn't by her side, that thing would come into her dreams again.

We have to find another guesthouse tomorrow; we really can't stay here any longer.

Seeing her insistence, and the fear and unease in her eyes, he figured she was really scared, so he stopped insisting and lay down next to her. As soon as he lay down, he felt a warm body lean against him, and two soft little hands hugged his arm.

"Ah Xun, I might not be able to watch out for anything while I'm asleep. You're a light sleeper, so if anything gets close, you have to protect me!" Song Tantan solemnly entrusted him with this task.

Ye Moxun: "..." So he was just a shield?

What made him even more amused and exasperated was that the person who had been so boisterous just moments before was now fast asleep, clinging to his arm, breathing evenly, with a peaceful expression, taking carefree to the extreme.

"You were afraid to stay asleep any longer, but you fell asleep right away without even considering my feelings." Ye Moxun was speechless, and he still had to stay still and act as her pillow.

He tried to turn over, but the brat tightened her grip on his arm, muttering protests.

Ye Moxun: "..."

Oh well, she's the wife I chose, what else can I do? I'll just spoil her.
