How could the dogs tell who the emperor was and who the thief was? They'd never seen them before, had they?
They could only try to stop those who wanted to jump away, even though they couldn't see clearly in the black fog.
But the dogs had a keen sense of smell and accurately tracked the group by scent. Song Zhuiyan remembered the location of the door, groped her way over, and kicked the door open.
Light streamed in from outside, and the black fog spread from inside the house to the outside. Fresh air diluted the thick smoke inside, and visibility gradually became clear.
Ye Moxun looked around and found that several dogs had bitten three of them. Emperor Kangping and the Crown Prince had not been taken away, so only two people escaped.
"Your Majesty, Crown Prince, how are you?" Ye Mo asked, then shut up. The two were still under the influence of drugs and couldn't hear him or respond.
"Aunt, come and help us get the Emperor and the Crown Prince out." The room was still shrouded in black smoke, so it wasn't a good place to stay any longer.
Song Zhuiyan had already jumped outside. The black smoke was very choking, like tear gas, and she felt uncomfortable smelling it, so she ran out quickly.
Hearing Ye Moxun call her, she quickly went back to help.
"You dogs, drag these three outside," Song Zhuiyan said.
Song Zhuiyan and Ye Moxun first carried Emperor Kangping out of the house, then carried the Crown Prince out, while the dogs dragged the three thieves out of the palace.
"The Imperial Guards are utterly useless. The emperor is about to die, and they still haven't shown up," Song Zhuiyan said with deep resentment.
“In the years since His Majesty ascended the throne, he has been busy with the war on the border and the problem of food and clothing for the people. There are too many things to worry about in the Great Jin Dynasty. When he takes care of national affairs, he has no energy to manage the harem.” Ye Moxun also felt sorry for Emperor Kangping and the Crown Prince.
They were both good monarchs and good crown princes who were wholeheartedly devoted to the country. Emperor Kangping had been governing the country while ill for many years. Apart from his first wife being made empress and several concubines who were originally in the Prince's Palace being promoted to imperial consorts, he had not taken in any more imperial consorts, let alone selected any imperial consorts.
The Crown Prince was already married; his former wife was now the Crown Princess. His two concubines were granted the title of Liangdi (a high-ranking concubine title), and he did not take any more concubines.
This shows that the father and son truly devoted themselves to the Great Jin Dynasty. The country was well-governed, but their own harem became a breeding ground for spies. Countless spies were planted among the servants. When Ye Moxun first planted his spies, he felt it was a little too easy.
Emperor Kangping and the Crown Prince are lucky to be alive. The noble families and nobles didn't dare to take their lives, but Zhong Qingyi, this outsider, was incredibly audacious. She dared to kill the emperor after only two months in the capital.
If it weren't for the system notification that allowed him to arrive and save people immediately, the world might have truly been overthrown.
Two of the three thieves intercepted by the dog were Zhong Qingyi's confidants, and the other was an old man skilled in poison. The other old man escaped with Zhong Qingyi.
"Ah Xun, do you think that person might go to the Ye residence to look for Tan Tan and the others? Shouldn't we hurry back and check to be on the safe side?" Song Zhuiyan was worried about her child and also about her pregnant niece.
"No, Dang Shen and the others will keep an eye on Zhong Qingyi and make sure he doesn't go to the Ye residence." Ye Moxun reassured her while taking out the antidote and feeding it to the emperor and the crown prince.
"This antidote can only temporarily suppress the poison in their bodies. I need to develop an antidote as soon as possible." Ye Moxun frowned.
If this poison is not neutralized in time, it can easily cause brain damage. If the antidote cannot be made within a day, the emperor and the crown prince will become mentally impaired.
"It's that serious? What kind of medicine do you need? Tell me and I'll get it for you." Song Zhuiyan was shocked. Those two old men were really insidious, actually giving the Emperor and the Crown Prince such medicine.
"Let's go inside first." Thinking that it wouldn't hurt for the two of them to lie outside, and since it hadn't rained, Ye Moxun was too lazy to move them to another room.
After finding a secluded room and taking out the medicinal materials needed to develop the antidote from her spatial storage, Song Zhuiyan was in a hurry to leave. "I can't be of much help here. Let the dogs guard this place. I'll go back and check things out first."
Besides Taishan, all eleven dogs were brought along. Ye Moxun told her to take five with her and leave six behind.
"What if that person comes back with others? Let's keep the dogs for you." Song Zhuiyan was worried about leaving him alone in the palace.
“I have a system notification, everything will be fine. Heng’er and the others are still young, and Tantan is pregnant. I’m worried. You should take a few more dogs back with you so I can focus on my work.”
Song Zhuiyan was not one to dawdle. After a moment's hesitation, she turned and left the palace, taking the five dogs with her.
The Imperial Guards arrived late, and in a flustered and panicked manner, they carried the Emperor and the Crown Prince into the house and summoned the imperial physicians to treat them.
The imperial physicians were sweating profusely and raced against time to develop an antidote. However, they were not skilled in detoxification, so even though they were worried about losing their heads, they were helpless and could only use herbal decoctions to stabilize the situation and keep the emperor and the crown prince alive.
Actually, the imperial physician's medicine was not very effective. He relied entirely on the pill that Ye Moxun had fed him earlier to keep him going. It took him two hours to finally develop the antidote.
Although he hadn't come out, he had heard the commotion outside and knew that the Emperor and the Crown Prince had been brought into the room by the Imperial Guards. Outside the Emperor's bedroom, his few concubines were weeping with their hands covered in handkerchiefs.
When Ye Moxun tried to enter the palace, he was stopped by the guards. They had a half-smile on their faces. They were doing a good job, always managing to jump out and block his way.
However, he patiently explained why he was in the palace: "Whether you believe it or not, only I can save the Emperor and the Crown Prince now. If you delay, and something happens to the Emperor and the Crown Prince, you will not be able to bear the consequences."
Just then, one of the Crown Prince's bodyguards, Wuying, came to report the Crown Prince's situation to the Empress. He had been to Songlin Village before and had met Ye Moxun, so he knew that Ye Moxun was a skilled physician.
Upon seeing him appear, she was overjoyed and hurried over, saying, "Young Master Ye, it's been a long time. I didn't expect you to come to the capital. I'm relieved to have you here."
He then led the person into the Qiankun Palace, brought them before the Empress, and explained the situation to her.
"So he is Xifeng. Yu'er often mentions you to me. I have long heard of your excellent medical skills. Today, the Emperor and the Crown Prince are entrusted to you. You must save them." The Empress said, tears streaming down her face.
Ye Moxun simply greeted the Empress, then walked to the imperial bedchamber, fed the prepared antidote to Emperor Kangping, and then went to see the Crown Prince.
"Is everything alright on Your Majesty's side?" The Empress was taken aback.
"His Majesty is merely poisoned. This antidote will cure him. Your Majesty, please rest assured. I am here. If anything goes wrong, I will accept whatever punishment you may give me." Ye Moxun remained calm, showing no sign of fear.
The imperial physicians were all helpless, and the Empress could only place her hopes on him. She ordered people to take good care of the Emperor, and then she followed Ye Mo to the East Palace.
