Chapter Six: Those willing to go together will follow.

"I'll pick some vines from our mountain to tie it up," Song Tantan said softly.

"Remember to remove the leaves from the vine." As for whether it would arouse suspicion, they didn't care that much. Anyway, they pretended not to know, and no one would guess where the vine came from.

Once the simple plank was ready, Song Zhuiyan and another woman who wasn't carrying a child took turns pulling Zhong Qingyi along. The group walked and stopped frequently, and it took them more than an hour to reach the small village.

The people turned pale with fright when they saw the corpses at the village entrance, but they didn't react much. They had all fled all the way here and had seen many such scenes on the road, so they weren't too surprised. They were just worried that it wasn't safe here.

Song Tantan reassured everyone, "Don't be afraid, everyone. My aunt and I went into the village to investigate. No one has lived here for a long time. It's very remote, and no one will come looking for us anytime soon."

“You guys came with me to dig a hole and bury these people. They lived in someone else’s house, so we have to give them something in return.” Song Zhuiyan pointed at the adult women with a blank expression.

The two women holding the child were stunned for a moment, then put the child down, squatted down and started digging with their hands. The woman who was helping to pull Zhong Qingyi also joined in.

Song Tantan and Song Zhuiyan: "..." There's no need for that.

"I remember now, there's a family in the village who has a hoe, let's go get it." Song Tantan pulled Song Zhuiyan and ran towards the village.

There were no farm tools or other ironware in the village. Song Tantan randomly entered a house, found two rusty hoes in the room, and took them to dig a hole for the women.

Song Zhuiyan filled the pit. The three women who were responsible for digging the soil had not eaten for several days. They had exhausted all their strength to dig such a big pit and had no strength left to fill it.

Song Tantan lingered in the village for a while before coming out. Seeing several adults lying on the ground, seemingly lifeless, she called out, "Everyone, hurry into the village! I found half a bag of rice and millet at a house."
