Chapter Sixty-Five: No Danger Sensed

"Isn't it a waste? They could weigh several hundred pounds if they were raised to adulthood." It turned out he was just feeling sorry for her.

"It's no big deal to eat it yourself; being full is the most important thing." Song Zhuiyan sighed inwardly, thinking that Brother Zhong was indeed a thrifty and hardworking person.

After the New Year's Eve dinner, the four of them cleaned up the table and washed the dishes together. Zhong Qingyi offered to help wash the dishes, and Song Zhuiyan agreed. Ye Moxun was dragged to wash the dishes by Song Tantan.

You can't just eat and not do any work. If there's food, we eat together; if there are dishes, we wash them together.

The Spring Festival was quite quiet. There was no TV to watch the Spring Festival Gala, no firecrackers, and because it was too cold, the four of them were not in the mood to play cards and went to bed early.

As Ye Moxun was leaving, Song Tantan pulled him aside to talk, "Make the broken system more alert, always on guard, and ideally, able to predict danger a few days in advance." Don't wait until the bad guys are right in front of you and you're already fighting them before belatedly reminding them.

“…Okay, I understand.” Ye Moxun wanted to say, “Why are you still not giving up? This broken system is not trustworthy,” but seeing how serious she was, he didn’t argue.

After returning home, Ye Moxun had just lain down when he heard the system defending itself.

“Host, I also have some use. When the mudslide happened, it was I who reminded everyone to escape here.”

"Thirty dead bodies were found in a box inside the Water Curtain Cave behind the waterfall. Who did this? Who used to live here? Did they leave, or are they hiding in the shadows?"

After waiting for a while without hearing the system's voice, Ye Moxun snorted coldly, closed his eyes, and prepared to sleep. He knew that the broken system was incompetent; how could it possibly know so much?

Just as he was about to fall asleep, a weak mechanical voice came from behind him, “Host, I can’t sense any danger, which means the danger is far away from here. That villain must have left.”

Are you sure?

"...It's almost certain." The system's voice began to drift away.

Time quietly passed to mid-February. The heavy snow that had lasted for four months finally stopped, and the sun, which had not been seen for a long time, once again hung high in the sky, and the ice and snow began to melt.

Spring returns to the earth, flowers bloom, greenery abounds, and all things begin to revive. The world, which was once a vast expanse of white, regains its vibrant life after the sun rises.

Experienced people know that it's not as cold when it snows as it's when the snow melts. During the snow melt, Song Tantan stayed at home and didn't dare to move. As the weather gradually warmed up, she started going out.

On her first day out, she and her aunt went deep into the mountains and brought back two large wolfhounds and a litter of wolfhounds. There were four wolfhounds, and they were already three months old, almost adults.

This fierce and imposing wolfhound was as docile as a loyal dog that had been raised for many years in front of Song Tantan and Song Zhuiyan, wagging its tail happily and rubbing against them from time to time to express its affection.

Some people saw how docile the wolfhound was and tried to pet its head, but they were almost bitten. The big wolfhound bared its teeth and looked very fierce, not letting anyone get close.

"Why is Miss Song's wolfhound only docile to you and Tantan? Where did you catch it? What if it bites someone if you keep it in the village?" a villager complained.

"Don't worry, I won't let them out of the yard until they're tamed. But be careful when you come to my house. Don't come in quietly, or my dogs might mistake you for a thief and bite you."

The two large wolfhounds were raised by Song Zhuiyan a few years ago to guard the pig farm in her hometown. One was male and the other female, named Weifeng and Qiaoqiao respectively. When she transmigrated, the female dog named Qiaoqiao was pregnant and had been kept in her space. She hadn't seen her for more than half a year.

When they met again, Song Zhuiyan was surprised to find that the puppies had grown so much. She had brought them out to keep by her side so quickly because of the dead body she found in the Water Curtain Cave. Wolfhounds have a keen sense of smell and can detect abnormalities in the shortest time. With Weifeng and Qiaoqiao guarding the house, Song Zhuiyan could feel more at ease.

Weifeng and Qiaoqiao's responsibility was to guard the house. Every day, Song Tantan would take the four puppies around, with all the children in the village following behind her. The children all envied her for having such majestic wolfhounds.

"I'll put the pig here in a bit, and you do this..." Song Tantan and Ye Moxun whispered and discussed what they would do later.

After more than half a year of recuperation, Ye Moxun's body has visibly recovered a lot. At least he no longer gets out of breath after walking a few steps or turns pale after running a few steps. Now he can run and jump for short periods of time, and his face is no longer as pale as paper. He looks much healthier.

"Listen, what's that sound?" Ye Moxun, Azhu, Jixiang, and Chunsheng were picking wild vegetables together when he suddenly stood up and looked seriously at a certain place. "It sounds like a pig squealing."

"Really? I didn't hear that. Did I hear wrong?" Ah Zhu looked bewildered.

"There's no mistake, it's right there in the bushes over there." Ye Moxun pointed to a place overgrown with weeds, among which were several cedar trees.

Seeing his certainty, Ah Zhu took his long-handled machete and chopped a few times in the grass. After confirming that there were no snakes or other animals, he ran over to check, and what he saw was alarming.

"There really is a pig! A huge, fat pig, all white and plump!" Ah Zhu stammered, his face flushed, so excited he almost fainted.

The children gasped in surprise, "Really? Is it a wild boar?"

"No, it's a fat white pig, like one raised at home." Ah Zhu scratched his head uncertainly.

"Oh dear, I found a lot of pigs too, these pigs are mine." Song Tantan emphasized loudly, she was a bit far from everyone, uh, standing on the path back to the village.

Beside her were three large white pigs, grunting and rooting around the wild vegetables by the roadside.

The children: "..."

Cough, Ye Moxun couldn't help but chuckle, almost losing his composure, but fortunately he had enough self-control to maintain his expression. He spoke in a clear and cold voice, "Aunt Song knows how to raise pigs. Tantan wants to take those pigs back to raise. Does everyone have any objections?"

But those three pigs are big and fat, wouldn't it be better to kill them and eat them for meat?

Although they thought that way, Song Tantan and Ye Moxun were the leaders of the children, and all the children in the village were their little brothers. Since the leader had spoken, they naturally dared not object.

"Azhu, Jixiang, Chunsheng, drive this big fat pig back. Everyone in the village will have meat to eat today," Ye Moxun calmly instructed.

"Yeah, there's still one pig to eat, why are you fixated on Tantan's pigs?" Although the children felt as sour as if they had eaten lemons, they could only swallow their true thoughts, after all, Song Tantan could be very fierce when she hit people.

Many people witnessed Song Tantan's ruthlessness in wielding a knife and slashing people during their escape from famine; he was someone not to be trifled with.

Ye Moxun and Song Tantan walked together. The two pseudo-children, whose mental age added up to forty, did not feel any guilt about bullying children.

“You’ve already contributed a big fat pig, how dare you covet my three big sows? These three sows are about to give birth to piglets, how can you eat them?” Song Tantan shook his head, seemingly helpless.

"Just wait and see, a lot of people will be envious and want a share of your pigs. Once the piglets are born, the villagers will definitely want to get a few for free." Ye Moxun casually plucked a blade of grass and put it in his mouth, speaking in a very low voice.

"We will definitely distribute some of them, but we can't give them to those ungrateful wretches. Do you want to raise them? I can give you two piglets," Song Tantan said generously.

"There's no need for that. I can help you gather pig feed, and you can just give me some meat after you kill the pig." Ye Moxun refused to raise pigs.
