Chapter Sixty-One: The Secret Chamber

"Gulp."

"Ouch!" Song Tantan exclaimed in surprise as a splash of water erupted.

With a "plop," Ye Moxun also fell into the pool.

Wow, right inside the cave is a pool of water, and the water is quite warm. With a thought, a flashlight appeared in my hand, and I was finally able to see the situation inside the cave.

Behind the waterfall is a pool, about three square meters in size. The cave isn't entirely filled with water. Above the pool is a rectangular hall with a stone bench in the center. On the bench is a... tiger skin.

Wow, it seems this Water Curtain Cave was once inhabited.

Song Tantan knew how to swim, so even if she couldn't swim, she wouldn't drown. The deepest part of the hot spring pool only reached her chin, and even if she stood up straight, the water wouldn't reach her nose. She swam to the edge of the pool in a few strokes and then climbed out onto the ground.

"Ah Xun, are you alright?"

Song Zhuiyan was also startled when she came in. Anyone would be frightened if they fell into the water without any preparation. Ye Moxun was already physically weak. When he fell into the water, his head spun and he sank uncontrollably into the water.

If Song Zhuiyan hadn't pulled him up in time, he might have drowned in the pool. It's hateful that Song Tantan was only focused on studying what was in the cave and didn't even glance back at him.

"Cough, I'm fine, thank you Aunt Song." Ye Moxun coughed and spat out a mouthful of water. He was also a good swimmer in his previous life. He had just fallen in and swallowed the water without warning. However, he immediately held his breath as he sank.

"It's good that you're alright. Come on, let me help you up." Song Zhuiyan lifted him to the ground, and then climbed up herself.

"Knock knock." Song Tantan had no idea what Ye Moxun had encountered. Wearing a headlamp, she was tapping here and there with a small iron hammer. Her round and chubby body moved extremely nimbly around the stone cave before finally returning to the stone bench.

He tapped the stone wall behind the stone bench with the small iron hammer in his hand, occasionally pressing it to his ear to listen.

"Tantan, what are you up to?" Song Zhuiyan asked irritably.

"I'm looking for the secret room! I've found a clue! Come listen, the stone wall is hollow inside, there must be treasure inside!" Song Tantan said excitedly, eager to find the switch to the secret room.

"It's freezing! Song Tantan, stop worrying about things and get some clean clothes for me to change into. A-Xun is too weak to handle this cold." Song Zhuiyan said helplessly, her shoulders slumped.

Song Tantan paused, her delicate eyebrows furrowing into two caterpillars. "I told you not to come along." Although she complained, she moved quickly, throwing a set of thermal fleece-lined base layers, two sweaters, a down jacket, and down pants onto the stone bench.

"What are you doing?" Ye Moxun grabbed his collar, staring at Song Tantan in disbelief.

"What are you being shy about? You're not even fully grown yet, how could I possibly take advantage of you? I'll help you take off your clothes so it'll be faster and you won't catch a cold," Song Tantan said matter-of-factly. "Hurry up, what are you being so coy about? Change your clothes and let's find the secret room mechanism together."

Song Zhuiyan sighed and pulled Song Tantan away. "Go change your clothes too. Don't mess around. We'll each have a corner. Tantan, turn off the light, change your clothes, and then turn on your headlamp."

Since her aunt had spoken, Song Tantan had no choice but to temporarily abandon her search for the mechanism and slip into her spatial dimension to change her clothes.

Five minutes later, all three had changed their clothes. Song Tantan took out several headlamps, and the originally dark cave was instantly illuminated.

Ye Moxun lay on his side on a stone bench covered with a tiger skin to rest. He had choked on some water earlier, and his face was very pale. His dark eyes were fixed on Song Tantan as she busied herself.

"Strange, how could there be no mechanism? This place is clearly empty, so why can't I find the entrance?" Song Tantan muttered to herself as she pushed the stone wall with all her might, but it didn't budge. She then tried pushing it from a different spot.

After a while, Ye Moxun sat up, lifted the tiger skin, and groped around on the stone bench. Finally, he found a raised spot in the middle of the bottom of the bench and pressed the raised round stone.

With a muffled rumble, the stone wall in front of Song Tantan suddenly slid to the side. It turned out that Ye Moxun had triggered the secret chamber mechanism, and the stone door opened. The stone door moved until it was about half a meter wide at the entrance before stopping, revealing a treasure cave inside.

"I knew there was a secret room inside! Auntie, Ah Xun, come quick! There are so many boxes inside, there must be lots of gold bars!" Isn't that how it's always portrayed on TV? They found the secret room, and inside were many boxes, each filled with either gold and silver jewelry or gold bars.

"We're rich!" Song Tantan shouted and rushed into the secret room.

"You better watch out, don't do anything rash." Song Zhuiyan was prepared this time, grabbing her by the collar to prevent her from making any rash moves.

“Aunt Song is right, the smell in this secret room is very strange, something feels wrong,” Ye Moxun said in a low voice, frowning.

Hearing him say that, Song Tantan also noticed something was wrong. "This smells like decay." She picked up a few pebbles and threw them at the four walls of the secret room. The pebbles landed with a thud, without triggering any hidden weapons or anything.

After testing the ground with pebbles, nothing unusual was found, indicating that there were no hidden weapons inside. However, the three remained cautious and only dared to enter after testing the area several times.

Song Tantan took out three dust masks and put one on each of them. "This smell is awful. Who knows what's inside the box? It's best to wear masks first."

"Now you know it's dangerous, but why didn't you know it smelled bad before?" Song Zhuiyan said irritably.

"I was just too excited." Song Tantan felt a little guilty. She had been so focused on finding the treasure that she had overlooked the possibility that there might be hidden weapons in the secret room.

Alas, perhaps because of the spatial enhancement she received after transmigrating, she gradually became arrogant, thinking that she was omnipotent and that she could hide in the spatial dimension to avoid any danger. However, she forgot that if she was injured by a hidden weapon, hiding in the spatial dimension would be useless.

"Let's stay away and use a stick to pry open the box, just in case there are hidden weapons inside." As she spoke, Song Tantan produced a two-meter-long stick in her hand.

Song Zhuiyan silently took the wooden stick and took on the task of lifting the lid of the box. The box was one meter wide and half a meter long. The lid was a bit heavy. When it was pried open, dust flew everywhere. If the three of them hadn't been wearing masks, they would have definitely been choked and suffocated.

After waiting for a while, nothing seemed amiss; no hidden weapons flew out. The three exchanged glances and then slowly walked over to see what was inside the box.

"Wow! I knew it! It really is gold and silver jewelry." Song Tantan was overjoyed and quickly went to open the other boxes.

When she opened the second box, she couldn't laugh anymore; she almost cried.

Waaah, the second box contained a skeleton. Because the box wasn't long enough, the person inside had to be crouching and lying on their side with their legs bent.

Upon seeing the skeleton in the box, Song Zhuiyan also lost all color in her face. The scene was too horrifying, and the three of them were filled with horror.

Although she started killing people as soon as she transmigrated, she believed that she only killed bad people, but the person who put people into the box must not be a good person.

“…Let’s take a look at the other boxes.” Ye Moxun frowned, a look of disgust flashing in his eyes. The owner of this secret room was definitely not a normal person; he might be a murderous fiend.
