Chapter Sixty-Seven Private School

That day, Song Tantan saw Ye Moxun come to her looking dejected. When he arrived, he didn't ask her for food as usual. He sat there without saying a word, propped his elbows on the table, rested his chin on his hands, and sighed from time to time.

"What's wrong? This isn't like you. Why do you look so defeated?" Song Tantan instinctively reached for some food in her spatial storage, but paused when she saw him doing so. "Didn't you say you'd figured out how to make living prints? You should be very busy. How come you have time to come and play with me?"

Ye Mo had previously asked her for several books on live printing, and after studying them for a few days, he started working on it. Song Tantan wasn't very interested in these things; she had her own things to do, so she didn't know how far along the production of the printing tools was.

However, it shouldn't be that quick to get it done; it seems they've encountered some difficulties.

"Although the beginning wasn't easy, it went quite smoothly. But we've run into trouble at the crucial last step." Ye Moxun sighed heavily again.

He searched the entire village but couldn't find a single person skilled in carving, which meant he couldn't carve the characters, posing a major problem.

Song Tantan was also troubled for a moment, but soon she came up with a solution. "Don't worry, this is not that easy. If you ask me, by the time you have this research, you will have already copied several books... Don't stare at me. Let me tell you, before, no one knew how to make bricks and tiles, but they all learned later. No one in the village knows how to carve. Learn! With so many people, we can always find a few talented ones and then focus on training them."

"You think you can just train them like that? They have to be willing to be trained." Ye Moxun scoffed. Nobody knows how to carve, so who's going to teach them? Does he have to teach them? He certainly doesn't.

Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out outside, and it sounded like a lot of people had arrived.

Song Tantan slumped weakly on the table. "Here we go again. When will these people ever stop?" Ever since she brought back the three sows, those opportunistic people in the village have been coming to her house every few days to look at the pigs and, incidentally, to ask her aunt if she could contribute one of the sows.

"You guys think this is too weird? We've gone into the mountains so many times and haven't found a single pig. At most, we've only seen shadows of wild boars. Wild boars are so ferocious, I would never dare to go near them. If I bumped into one, I'd run away as fast as I could."

How could Tantan bring back a herd of wild boars? And the boars she chased back wouldn't even scare people away! And what about this big white boar? How come there's a big white boar on the mountain? How come it wasn't eaten by wild animals?"

The villagers chattered away, getting more and more excited as they talked.

With a loud bang, everyone looked and saw that Song Zhuiyan had thrown a sack of things heavily on the ground, which looked to weigh at least a hundred pounds.

She went hunting in the mountains early in the morning, but didn't catch any prey. However, she found some other good things and was in a good mood. She didn't expect to hear such things that ruined her mood as soon as she returned.

She held a large knife in her hand, its blade gleaming coldly in the sunlight. She said in a sinister tone, "Whoever spoke the loudest just now, step forward, let's fight one-on-one."

With a single glance, everyone shrank back a few steps, no longer daring to look at the pigs in the pigpen. Who would dare to duel with her? She was a trained fighter, while they were just honest farmers; how could they be her match?

What does Miss Song mean by this?

"Don't dare? Not convinced? Come at me all at once, let's see if I can take you all down by myself," Song Zhuiyan said expressionlessly as she threw away the knife in her hand. "I won't use any weapons either, we'll fight bare-handed. If I win, you'd better shut up and stop being so envious and eyeing my pigs all the time."

"If you can't find the big white pig, it's because you're incompetent and unlucky. As for why the big white pig appears in the mountains, there's a reason. Our stone house can prove that someone used to live here. The owner of the stone house may have raised pigs. It's normal that the pigs ran into the mountains after the owner disappeared."

She pointed to the group of white piglets mixed with the wild boars and said coldly, "Maybe one of the boars ran up the mountain and married a female wild boar, which is why they had piglets that were half black and half white."

I know you're jealous of how many pigs I have, but is jealousy even useful? My Tantan is lucky; it's innate. Otherwise, why is it that she gets to find pigs while you can't?

No one dared to speak. Although Miss Song no longer had a knife in her hand, judging from her cold expression, she was clearly very angry. What if she suddenly attacked someone?

"You've already eaten a whole pig, and it's still not enough. Being too greedy isn't good." The pig that Ye Moxun had Ah Zhu and the others bring back was slaughtered that same day, and the whole village got some meat. Although it wasn't much for each household, it was still meat, so why aren't you satisfied?

"Didn't I say that once the sow gives birth to piglets, the piglets will be distributed to the villagers to raise? Why do you care how these pigs came to be? If there are pigs to raise, wouldn't it be good to have pork to eat in six months or a year? All you do every day is think about where the pigs came from. You should use that time to do more work, like going up the mountain to find something to eat."

Now comes the important part: Song Zhuiyan dragged the burlap sack she had just thrown on the ground over, untied the rattan binding the sack, and took out a few yams from inside.

"See this? Yams! They're a good food source, and there's plenty of them deep in the mountains. I dug up a whole sack in just two hours; it'll last us for days. There are so many good things in the mountains, why don't you go dig them up? Instead, you come to my house and gossip about the pigs. Let me tell you, no matter how much you talk, we're not going to kill these pigs for meat; we have to raise them."

"If anyone dares to come to my house again and whine or try to take advantage of the pigs, I'll beat them every time I see them."

Zhong Qingyi had originally come to call Ye Moxun home for dinner. She had been listening outside the fence for a while when she came in. With a stern face, she said, "Those who want to raise pigs should tell Miss Song beforehand. Those who don't want to raise pigs should help build the school. Anyone who is dissatisfied and thinks about eating pork all day long should ask my sword first."
