Chapter Ninety-Seven: Finding the Fruit Tree

But Zhong Qingyi didn't know she could cheat, and insisted on carrying so much. He couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he had to give up.

Song Zhuiyan and Song Tantan deliberately walked at the back. Under Ye Moxun's cover, they quietly moved a few peach and plum trees that had borne fruit into their space, as well as other fruit trees that had blossomed. They only took about six or seven trees, not daring to take too many, for fear of any side effects.

Especially Song Tantan, who expends too much energy and is prone to fainting, while Song Zhuiyan does not have this reaction, so she forbids Song Tantan from putting too many things into her space.

After traveling for half a day, it got dark again. We still had to spend the night in the mountains. This time, we found a relatively open place with no trees around to pitch our tent. We sprinkled pesticide powder and lime powder around half a mile to keep wild beasts and snakes away.

Having finished yesterday's prey, Zhong Qingyi circled around the neighborhood and quickly brought back a pheasant and a bamboo rat. With some dry rations, they were quite full, and they could even save some meat for tomorrow morning.

The next day, the four of them had a simple breakfast and then headed back. Unlike the day before, they didn't have to chase after each other so hard and exhaust themselves. Ye Moxun was able to hold on, and he and Song Tantan were quite busy along the way, picking herbs as they went.

It wasn't that they went out of their way to collect them, but the resources in the deep mountains were so abundant that medicinal herbs could be found everywhere along the way. If they didn't recognize them, that would be fine, but they did, and they felt it would be a waste not to pick them.

Many of these are herbs that are difficult to find normally, but they are very useful when brought back. I picked them all; I picked everything I saw.

Because they were gathering herbs along the way, which took up a lot of time, they didn't get back to the village until dark. When they arrived at their doorstep, Weifeng and Qiaoqiao heard the noise and smelled their owner's scent, and both barked excitedly a few times.

"Woof woof woof." Three wolfhounds had already run over and were scratching at the door.

During the two days they were away from home, Zhu Xiu came over to help feed the dogs and pigs. Song Zhuiyan had told her that she would be going deeper into the mountains and might spend the night there, so she asked Zhu Xiu to come and feed the livestock.

Zhu Xiu fed the livestock before dark and then went back. The four of them did not disturb anyone else, so the villagers did not know that they had returned.

Once inside the courtyard, Song Zhuiyan patted the dog's head and whispered, "I'm sorry I didn't find them. Don't worry, we won't give up so easily; we'll look for them again."

"Woof woof woof." The three large wolfhounds seemed to understand, whimpering and growling a few times.
