Chapter 257 Lost a Job

He Tiantian stood at the door for a while, looking on with great envy.

Such a large restaurant must bring in a fortune every day. I wonder who owns Wanchun Restaurant; they must be one of the wealthiest people in Changning County.

After standing in front of the main gate for quite a while, He Tiantian was eager to know just how big Wanchun Tower really was.

So she decided to take a look around Wanchun Tower and estimate its size.

The further you walk, the quieter the noise becomes. When you reach the very back of Wanchun Tower, all is quiet; the sounds of the guests' chatter from the front are no longer audible.

He Tiantian couldn't help but sigh, guessing that Wanchunlou must have twenty or thirty private rooms, capable of accommodating over a thousand people at a time.

Opening such a large restaurant in such a prime location must have required a considerable initial investment.

Forget it, she'll stop dreaming about such things.

Because she simply didn't have the time to manage such a large industry, and her main focus was on developing the chicken farm and planting.

As she walked forward, He Tiantian heard a familiar voice.

"Can you two eat a little slower? There's still plenty left, enough for the three of you." It was Cheng's voice.

"Mom, Mom, I'm so tired of this roast chicken. Could you bring some pig's head meat next time?"

Cheng gave Zhao Pang a light tap on the head, annoyed. "Pig's head meat? I think you're the pig's head!"

Fatty Zhao smiled awkwardly, took a big bite of a chicken leg, and ate it with relish.

After finishing his meal, Zhao Xiangnan smacked his lips with lingering satisfaction. "Wife, it would be great if you could get me some more of the fine wines from this restaurant. I've never had any before."

Mrs. Cheng gave her husband a disapproving look. Although she didn't give him a friendly look, she thought about it and realized it wasn't entirely impossible.

The guests were all completely drunk, and it was a waste to throw away all that wine every time we cleared the table.

She might as well have packed them all up in small portions and given them to Xiang Nan to drink.

The family was engrossed in their meal and didn't notice He Tiantian standing in the corner.

Having been in the city for so long, this was the first time He Tiantian had seen the Cheng family at Wanchunlou.

No wonder Cheng was willing to come to the city to work even if she was beaten and scolded; it turns out she wanted to make some money at Wanchunlou.

Except for Zhao Xiaocao, who lives in the village, everyone else in the Cheng family has visibly gained weight over the past six months.

He Tiantian suddenly understood why Wanzi felt sorry for Xiaocao now; this family didn't treat Xiaocao like their own daughter.

It must have been really tough for Zhao Xiaocao, a child, to be with them.

He Tiantian didn't want to see the Cheng family's dirty deeds, so she turned around and tried to leave, heading back the way she came.

At that moment, the backyard door was suddenly opened.

Several servants carrying sticks came out with a clatter, and finally a man who looked like the manager was the last to arrive.

The Cheng family turned pale with fright and hurriedly stuffed the unfinished roast chicken into their arms.

Fatty Zhao and Skinny Zhao had oil all over their mouths from eating, so they quickly wiped it off with their sleeves.

Mrs. Cheng was so frightened that her face turned pale and she looked very unwell.

"Manager Guan...Manager Guan's..."

Manager Guan?

Upon hearing Cheng's voice, He Tiantian couldn't help but glance at the manager of Wanchunlou.

It turns out he shares the same surname as Guan Xiaodi, whom she knows? I wonder if the two of them know each other privately.

Fatty Zhao, Skinny Zhao, and Zhao Xiangnan all looked at Manager Guan of Wanchunlou. They were all too frightened to utter a sound.

Manager Guan looked down at the Cheng family of four, and he seemed very angry.

"How dare you, Mr. Cheng! You've actually stolen food from the restaurant!"

Startled, Cheng knelt down with a thud and cried out, "Manager Guan, Manager Guan! I didn't steal it! I didn't steal it!"

Two shop assistants dressed in gray clothes approached Fatty Zhao and Skinny Zhao and roughly rummaged through their arms, taking out the unfinished roast chicken, roast fish, and salted duck...

"Hmph, with witnesses and physical evidence all before you, how dare you still try to deny it? Guards, take him to the authorities!"

Upon hearing this, Zhao Xiangnan also knelt down with a thud. Zhao Pang and Zhao Shou followed closely behind.

They were just eating leftovers from a restaurant, so why... why are they going to jail?

Zhao Xiangnan quickly begged for mercy, "Manager, manager, please let us go. We're just from the countryside, and we're eating the leftovers from your restaurant's customers."

“Yes, yes,” Zhao Shou quickly nodded in agreement. “We’re eating the swill from your restaurant, it would be a waste not to eat it.”

Manager Guan turned his gaze to Madam Cheng. Apart from a hint of anger on his face, nothing else was apparent.

“Cheng, on your first day working here, didn’t I tell you that personal involvement in the restaurant’s swill disposal is not allowed?”

Feeling guilty when questioned, Cheng avoided eye contact and dared not speak.

Zhao Xiangnan also looked at his wife, "Didn't you say that this is all swill that the restaurant doesn't want?"

The two sons looked at their mother, puzzled.

"Since you're not saying anything, it means you still remember this matter. As for Sister Wan who came with you, you're both from the same village, so we can't let her stay either."

Tiezi's mother stood inside, listening intently. When she heard Manager Guan say that she couldn't stay either, Tiezi's mother rushed out and knelt down in front of Manager Guan with a thud.

"Manager, manager, I'm not in cahoots with the Cheng family. I haven't smuggled a single item from the restaurant!"

Tiezi's mother was filled with regret and hated Cheng Shi, that wicked woman!
