Chapter Sixty-Two: That Damn Sense of Justice

It's a tomato!

This tastes just like tomatoes!

He Tiantian's eyes lit up. This tomato was the only vegetable she had ever seen that could be called a fruit since she came into this world.

She was complaining the other day about not having any fruit to eat and having trouble defecating.

"How much?" He Tiantian asked decisively.

"Hehe..." The middle-aged male vendor chuckled, "Young lady, I can tell you have a good eye for quality. These persimmon seedlings of mine were brought in from outside the Great Wall. They're the first of their kind in the entire interior..."

"Stop talking so much, just tell me how much it costs. I won't buy it if it's too expensive," He Tiantian interrupted.

The middle-aged man swallowed hard, asking uncertainly, "Five hundred coins...?"

He Tiantian gave him a strange look, realizing that this man was probably also doing business in Changning County for the first time. And he actually wanted to rip off her, a local?

Hehe, she's going to show this guy today that he's going to get ripped off as an outsider!

He Tiantian sneered and rolled her eyes at the vendor.

"Five hundred coins? Ha! With five hundred coins, wouldn't it be better to buy two catties of pork? Why would I buy these few green vegetables from you!"

"Uh..." That one sentence left the uncle speechless.

"Two hundred coins or not!" He Tiantian mustered her courage and shouted out the price in one breath.

Upon hearing this, the vendor's face contorted in a grimace, "This...this...young lady, your bargaining skills are truly astounding." He had brought the goods all the way from beyond the Great Wall, his legs practically giving out, and it was only worth two hundred coins.

“If you’re not going to sell, I’m leaving. You won’t be able to sell this stuff here. You might as well buy some meat; that’s much tastier.” With that, He Tiantian turned to leave.

Sure enough, just as she took two steps, the vendor behind her called her back.

"Hey, little sister, don't go! I'll sell it for two hundred coins!"

He Tiantian was secretly delighted, but her expression remained calm and composed.

Haha... This old-fashioned way of haggling actually works quite well.

After paying, He Tiantian took all the tomato seedlings with her. There were four large bundles in total, with an estimated thirty-four seedlings.

She had tomatoes, but no eggs, which forced her to buy some chickens!

He Tiantian planned to buy some chicks to raise, but after wandering around for a long time, she couldn't find any for sale. So she simply opened the online store and bought thirty chicks.

I reckon by the time the tomatoes bear fruit and are ready to eat, the chickens will have started laying eggs too.

He Tiantian carried a basket on her back containing thirty chicks and some meat she had just bought. She couldn't let the tomato seedlings get crushed, so she had to hold them in her hands.

When they reached a secluded alley, He Tiantian suddenly heard a girl shouting for help.

"Who are you? Help! Someone help me!"

"Haha, Miss Li, please don't shout. No one will come to this place."

Four masked men in black surrounded a girl. The girl was dressed in fine silk and satin, with a gold hairpin in her hair and jade ornaments on her hands. She was clearly the daughter of a wealthy family.

The two maids lying on the ground beside her had already been knocked unconscious. Miss Li watched as the four men in black approached, her small face filled with fear.

"What do you want? If you want money, I can give it to you."

He Tiantian, being a pregnant woman, didn't want to get involved in this matter, after all, she couldn't possibly defeat four young men.

But after searching, she found that there was indeed no one else around.

She couldn't just pretend she didn't see it and walk away; after all, as a successor to 21st-century communism, this damned sense of justice compelled her to act bravely.

She quickly opened the online store and bought a large bottle of pepper spray and two stun guns.

The ten taels of silver hurt her deeply.

"Stop!" He Tiantian shouted, holding a stun gun in one hand and pepper spray in her pocket.

He Tiantian felt that she was radiating a righteous light, like a savior.

The four rough men were startled by the shout and turned around to look.

When they saw that it was a pregnant woman, they all burst out laughing.

"What the hell? These days, even a pregnant woman has the guts to stand up for justice?" A masked man in black sneered, the mole under his eye particularly glaring in the sunlight.

He Tiantian had never been looked down upon like this before. She puffed out her belly and said loudly, "Ha, you little brat, how dare you laugh at your grandma? If you've got the guts, release that girl and come at me!"

The four men exchanged glances. Since Miss Li was already cornered and couldn't escape, they figured they might as well deal with the pregnant woman first.

Four masked men walked towards He Tiantian, who held electric batons in both hands and looked at them warily.

The masked men didn't take what He Tiantian was holding seriously at all. In their eyes, it was just like a wooden stick, what difference did it make?

"Brothers, let's finish this quickly. It won't be good if someone comes later."

The leader must be the eldest brother. After he finished speaking, the other three masked men attacked He Tiantian head-on.

The two stun guns were already turned on, and He Tiantian stabbed them at the two people.

The electric current was so strong that the two people were stunned, their bodies twitched a few times, and they fell straight backward.

The other two masked men were still confused. "What's going on? How come you two good-for-nothings can't even beat a woman?"

As he spoke, the other two pounced on him.

However, when they came into contact with He Tiantian's stun gun, their bodies convulsed and they collapsed.

The four tough guys were taken down in an instant. It was also the first time He Tiantian had used this thing, and she didn't expect it to be so useful.

Looking at the two stun guns in her hand, she thought the ten taels of silver were well spent. From now on, she would carry them for self-defense.

Miss Li, covered in sweat and grime, stared in astonishment at what had just happened. What had this woman done to bring down all four thugs?

She slowly stood up, but dared not approach He Tiantian when she was still ten meters away.

He Tiantian looked around. This place was too remote, and now the girl's personal maid had fainted.

Okay, let's just let her be a good person to the end.

She walked up to Miss Li and asked, "What's your name? Why did those people kidnap you?"

Miss Li saw that He Tiantian looked kind and didn't seem like a bad person. Besides, if this woman hadn't saved her just now, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

She bowed to He Tiantian and began in a melodious voice, "My name is Li Qianqian, and I am the eldest daughter of the Li family. Those people just now were probably my father's business rivals, so..."

Although Li Qianqian didn't say what came next, He Tiantian could roughly guess.

The cutthroat competition in the business world has existed since ancient times, but in this era, a woman's reputation is of utmost importance.

If Miss Li were kidnapped by these masked men, her reputation would be almost ruined.
