Chapter 458 There's Someone Behind the Soft-Heart Gate

Mei Bing had a bad feeling. "Little friend, why did your father give you your maternal grandma's address?"

The little boy sobbed a few times. "I don't know."

"Then...did your dad and mom have a fight?"

"Um."

"And then your mother left, right?"

"Um."

"And then did your dad put a note in your pocket and leave?"

"Um."

What did your father say to you before he passed away?

The little boy thought for a moment. "My dad said there's good food at my grandma's house."

Mei Bing looked at the little boy and asked, "So you wanted to go to your grandma's house to find something delicious to eat?"

"Um."

Do your parents often argue?

"Um."

Mei Bing suspected that the little boy had been abandoned by his parents. "Little friend, how long have you been gone?"

"I don't know." The little boy looked at Mei Bing with his big, watery eyes and said, "Auntie, can you take me to my grandma's house? Auntie, I want to go to my grandma's house."

Mei Shui couldn't bear to refuse the little boy. But, she said, "Little friend, Auntie will have a policeman take you to your grandma's house. Okay?"

"not good."

"Why?"

"They are bad people."

Mei Bing thought to herself: Well, another pair of parents using the police to scare their child. "Police officers aren't bad people. Police officers are good people."

The little boy blinked. "Then why do they keep taking my dad away?"

Mei Bing frowned. "The police keep arresting your father?"

The little boy nodded.

Mei Bing thought to herself: No wonder she could slip a note into her son's pocket and then ignore his affairs.

The little boy tugged at Mei Bing's sleeve and shook it. "Auntie, can you take me to my grandma's house? There's lots of good food there."

Mei Bing really wanted to agree to the little boy's request. But... Mei Bing took out her phone. "Auntie will make a phone call."

"Okay. Auntie, could you take me to my grandma's house after you finish your call? Is that alright?"

Mei Bing patted the little boy's head: "Okay."

A moment later, the call connected. Mei Bing explained the situation to the other end. "You arrested his father. He's somewhat resistant to you. So, please don't wear uniforms when you come, okay?"

The other party immediately agreed.

After hanging up the phone, Mei Bing looked at the little boy and said, "Auntie will take you to your grandma's house in a little while, okay?"

"Okay." The little boy hugged Mei Bing's leg. "Auntie, you're so nice. Auntie, I like you."

Mei Bing gently touched the little boy's face. "Auntie likes you too."

"Auntie, I'm hungry."

Mei Bing doesn't have the habit of keeping food in the car. "Then Auntie will call them again and ask them to send you some food."

The little boy rubbed his tummy. "Auntie, I'm hungry right now."

"Then...then Auntie will give them another call and take you out to eat."

"good."

Mei Bing called the police again, telling them that her child was hungry and she would take the child to get something to eat. After agreeing on a meeting place, Mei Bing hung up the phone.

Mei Bing picked the little boy up from the ground. "Come on. Auntie will take you to get something to eat."

The little boy hugged Mei Bing's neck. "Okay. Auntie, I want to eat..." the little boy babbled on and on.

Mei Bing looked at the little boy's tummy. "Can you really eat this much?"

"able."

"Oh well."

Mei Bing opened the car door and put the little boy in the back seat. "Sit still and don't move around."

"good."

Mei Bing was worried that the little boy would get hurt, so she drove very slowly. A place that usually takes ten minutes took Mei Bing more than half an hour to reach.

Mei Bing ordered a lot of dishes according to the little boy's instructions. However, the little boy only took one bite of each dish and then stopped eating.

Mei Bing was a little puzzled. "Why aren't you eating? Aren't you hungry?"

The little boy pouted. "It doesn't taste good."

"Really?" Mei Bing had been to this restaurant before. She picked up her chopsticks, tasted it, and found it tasted the same as before. "It's quite delicious. Little friend, are you not used to the taste?"

No. It doesn't taste good.

"Then...then Auntie will get you something else."

"good."

Mei Bing ordered a few more dishes.

But the little boy only took one bite and then stopped eating.

Mei Bing was a little exasperated. "Little friend, you can't do that. You won't grow tall if you do that."

The little boy hesitated for a moment. "Then...then I'll eat some."

Mei Bing wanted to laugh when she saw the little boy frowning as he put the food into his small bowl. "Good boy."

The little boy had just started eating when two men came in. They looked around the shop, then approached Mei Bing and the little boy.

One of the taller men looked at Mei Bing and asked, "Comrade, was it you who called us just now?"

As soon as they entered, Mei Bing saw them. Judging from their gait and demeanor, she knew they were police officers. However, she still needed to ask the necessary questions. "And you are?"

The other party took out their identification documents.

Mei Bing examined it carefully. After reading it, Mei Bin explained the little boy's situation to the two policemen. Then, Mei Bing took out the note the little boy had given her. "This is the address."

The other person took the note. "Thank you, leave the rest to us."

“Okay,” Mei Bing said, looking at the little boy. “Little friend, Auntie will have these two uncles take you to your grandma’s house.”

"Wah..." The little boy burst into tears. "Auntie, you lied to me. Waaah... Auntie, I don't want them to take me to my grandma's house. Auntie, you just said you would take me to my grandma's house. Auntie, you're a bad person. You lied to a child. Waaah... Waaah..."

The two men who came later tried to comfort the little boy, but he kept crying.

Finally, one of the men looked at Mei Bing and said, "Why don't you come with us?"

Another chimed in, "Yeah. If you don't go, he definitely won't want to come with us."

Mei Bing's heart softened when she saw the little boy crying pitifully. "Okay, I'll go with you."

A look of joy flashed in both men's eyes. "That's wonderful. Thank you!"

"You're welcome. Let's go then."

"good."

Mei Bing wiped away the little boy's tears. "Don't cry. Auntie will take you to your grandma's house."

The little boy sniffed. "Really?!"

"Um."

The little boy hugged Mei Bing's hand bowl with his two chubby little hands: "Auntie, you are so kind."

Mei Bing picked the little boy up from the chair. "Let's go then."

"good."

Soon, Mei Bing and her group arrived at the place written on the note.

One of the men went over and knocked on the door. "Is anyone home?"

A woman's voice came from inside the house. "Yes, come in, the door is open."

Two men went in first.

Then, Mei Bing also went inside carrying the child.

As soon as Mei Bing entered, she sensed someone behind the door. Unfortunately, she was knocked unconscious just as she realized something was wrong.
