Han Bin touched his nose. "My wife could slap a wild boar to death."
Everyone was stunned for a moment before they realized what Han Bin meant. He meant he had a shrewish wife. If he dared to have affairs, well… he could slap a wild boar to death…
Commander Luo: "Your wife is really strong."
Deputy Division Commander He inwardly scorned Han Bin. However, if he didn't even dare to help a woman with a sprained ankle, then... it seemed unlikely that he could be removed from his position based on his conduct.
The regimental commander thought to himself: Does this new division commander think that being afraid of one's wife is a glorious thing?
The second regimental commander thought to himself: This new division commander is really good at bragging.
The third regimental commander thought to himself: My goodness, this wife is too amazing!
The fourth regimental commander thought to himself: "A dignified division commander is actually afraid of his wife. Tsk tsk."
The fifth regimental commander thought to himself: No wonder he brought his wife to report for duty; he was forced to do so.
The Sixth Regiment Commander thought to himself: This excuse is really terrible.
Han Bin looked at Commander Luo and asked, "Is your daughter alright?"
Commander Luo: "It's nothing." It's just that what used to take a few days to recover has now taken two months. "It'll be fine in a few days."
Han Bin: "Then I'm relieved."
Deputy Division Commander He looked at Han Bin and smiled, "If we encounter a female comrade in mortal danger, the division commander won't have time to come back for reinforcements."
Han Bin: "I usually have guards with me when I go out. Yesterday, the guards hadn't arrived yet, and the commander's daughter's injury wasn't serious, so I came back to call for them." Han Bin looked at Commander Luo and said, "Is Division Commander Zhang feeling better? I'd like to go to the hospital to see him."
"Much better."
"Then I'll go to the hospital to see Commander Zhang tomorrow."
"Um."
At noon, Commander Luo returned home and, upon seeing his daughter, said, "Do you know why Commander Han didn't help you up?"
Luo Susu snorted coldly. "You think it's beneath you?"
He said his wife could kill a wild boar with one slap.
Luo Susu was stunned for a moment: "Dad, are you saying that he didn't help me up because he was afraid his wife would beat him up?"
"Um."
Luo Susu never expected this reason: "Is...is his wife really that amazing?"
"Hmm." He and Han Bin had just met. He was also Han Bin's boss, so Han Bin wouldn't brag to him.
Luo Susu asked curiously, "Is his wife tall and strong?"
"have no idea."
Grandma Luo just came out of the kitchen. Luo Susu asked, "Mother, have you seen the new division commander's wife?"
"No. What's wrong?"
“My dad said she could slap a wild boar to death.”
Grandma Luo placed the food on the table. "Don't listen to your father's nonsense."
Commander Luo: "I'm not making this up. Commander Han said it himself."
Luo Susu is young and quite curious. "I've never seen anyone kill a wild boar with a single slap. Mom, let's go visit her after dinner."
Grandma Luo looked at her daughter's feet. "Your feet don't hurt anymore?"
"Uh...it's okay, I'll use a cane."
As she served the rice, Grandma Luo said, "Can you please just calm down for a bit?"
Susu pleaded with Grandma Luo, "Mom, I want to go! Mom, come with me! Mom, I'm so bored at home! Mom..."
Luo Susu was the youngest child of Commander Luo and Old Mrs. Luo. Old Mrs. Luo always doted on her: "Don't you mind that no one helped you up?"
"I don't mind." Luo Susu was very curious. What kind of woman could manage a division commander so obediently?
"Alright then."
Meanwhile, Han Bin returned and briefly recounted the morning's events to Xiao Man.
Xiaoman smiled. "Other people hide their fear of their wives, but you're the opposite, as if you're afraid others won't know you're afraid of your wife."
Han Bin puffed out his chest. "So what if I'm afraid of my wife? I can still lead troops well even if I'm afraid of my wife."
"Now that you've said that, they probably won't try to seduce you."
"Yeah. I'm playing it safe right now. So I'm not going to get involved in their messing around."
“If they run out of options with you, they might try to get something out of me and the kids.”
"I'll find them something to do this afternoon. That way they won't be thinking about these crooked ways when they have nothing to do."
"Um."
After finishing his meal, Han Bin went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
On the other side, after finishing her meal, Luo Susu urged her mother to bring her to see Xiaoman.
Han Bin was washing dishes when someone at the door asked, "Is anyone home?"
Han Bin came out of the kitchen. "Hello!"
Grandma Luo led her daughter in through the door. "Hello. I am Commander Luo's wife. This is my daughter."
Luo Susu smiled as she looked at Han Bin wearing an apron and said, "Commander Han, washing the dishes?"
Han Bin shook the water off his hands. "Okay. Come in and sit down." Han Bin turned around and said to the house, "Xiaoman, we have guests."
Luo Susu thought Han Bin would be embarrassed. Unexpectedly, Han Bin readily admitted it.
Xiaoman came out of the house.
Grandma Luo and Luo Susu were both surprised to see Xiaoman. They had both assumed she would be tall and strong. They hadn't expected her to be more like any other woman. The only difference, they thought, was that she had married a husband significantly older than herself.
Han Bin introduced them to everyone. "Xiaoman, this is Commander Luo's wife and daughter."
Xiaoman smiled. "Hello! Please come in and have a seat."
After Grandma Luo and Luo Susu followed Xiaoman into the house, Xiaoman took out a plate of mountain delicacies and placed it on the table. "These are mountain delicacies that my family stir-fried ourselves. Please try them."
Grandma Luo grew one: "It smells so good."
Su Su glanced outside. Han Bin went back to the kitchen to wash the dishes. "Sister-in-law, Commander Han is so diligent."
Xiaoman smiled. "Is your foot alright?"
"It's alright. Sister-in-law, in your family, do you cook and Commander Han wash the dishes?"
"No. Washing dishes is the children's job. The children haven't arrived yet, so he'll wash them for a few days first."
Luo Susu looked at Xiaoman's hands. "Sister-in-law, your hands look even thinner than mine. Sister-in-law, can you really kill a wild boar with one slap?"
"Um."
"Sister-in-law, you're amazing."
Xiaoman smiled. "It's nothing."
Next, Grandma Luo told Xiaoman about the basic situation of the family quarters.
When Han Bin came in after washing the dishes, Grandma Luo was chatting with Xiaoman about Luo Susu's work. "Our Susu is very hardworking. This year during the Spring Festival, her boss wanted to award her the March 8th Red Banner Pacesetter award, but her father insisted on stopping her from doing so."
Xiaoman: "Maybe Uncle Luo thinks Susu is too young."
Grandma Luo: "Hmm."
Han Bin walked in from the door and said to Old Master Luo's wife, "Sister-in-law, you two can chat for a while. I'm going to work."
Grandma Luo: "Hmm."
After Han Bin left, Luo Susu told Xiaoman about what happened yesterday. "Sister-in-law, yesterday when I asked Commander Han to help me, he ran away. I thought he didn't want to help me. Turns out he was afraid you would scold him. Sister-in-law, Commander Han not only keeps his distance from women at all times, but he also helps you wash the dishes. Sister-in-law, how did you train Commander Han to be like this?"
