Chapter 89: A stark contrast

Xiaoman and Xiaohei looked exhausted, and Zhou Lihua had injuries on her face and blood on her clothes. The two of them and the horse walked very slowly.

The military wives who were at home all came out to watch.

Those who were familiar with Zhou Lihua asked her what happened. Zhou Lihua told them that she and Xiaoman had encountered a pack of wolves, lost all the things she had brought and the medicine she had collected, and that the two of them had almost been eaten by wolves.

Soon, the entire military region knew about it.

Han Bin finally got a vacation. But as soon as he arrived at the military region, he heard that Xiao Man had encountered a pack of wolves in the mountains. Han Bin dropped his things and ran to the family quarters.

Wang Erni and Ma Xiumei came to pick up Xiaoman after hearing the news. Xiaoman was talking to them when Han Bin rushed up from behind: "Xiaoman! Xiaoman! Are you alright?"

Xiaoman turned around and saw Han Bin covered in sweat: "I'm fine."

Han Bin pulled Xiaoman to look at it several times: "It scared me to death."

Xiaoman smiled and asked, "Why are you back?"

"I'm on holiday. Xiaoman, I bought you a lot of things."

Xiaoman looked at Han Bin's hand: "Where are the things?"

"Things?" Han Bin turned and ran: "Xiaoman, you go home first, I'll go get the things."

Zhou Lihua looked at Xiaoman with envy: "Commander Han is so good to you."

Wang Erni: "That's it? You didn't see Xiaoman when she was pregnant."

Ma Xiumei: "That's right, back then..."

Zhou Lihua became more and more envious as she listened.

A moment later, Han Bin caught up with the things he was carrying.

As soon as Han Bin arrived, Ma Xiumei laughed and said, "Erni, Lihua, let's go. If we don't leave, Commander Han will scold us."

Han Bin smiled and said, "Why would I curse you?"

Wang Erni: "Are you scolding us for being tactless? Xiaoman, we're leaving now."

Xiaoman smiled and said, "Okay."

As soon as they left, Han Bin asked, "Xiaoman, how many packs of wolves did you encounter?"

"group."

"A pack?!" Han Bin was a little surprised: "The wolf pack you encountered was very large?"

"Not big."

Han Bin immediately understood: "You did this on purpose?"

"Um."

"Why?"

Xiaoman recounted what had happened. "I didn't want them to think that following me into the mountains would guarantee them a bountiful return. I also wanted to see if Zhou Lihua would dare to come into the mountains with me again."

"What if she dares?"

"Then I'll lend her a hand."

Han Bin looked at Xiaoman and said, "If you want to scare someone in the future, tell me in advance, otherwise you'll scare your husband to death before you scare anyone else."

Xiaoman smiled and said, "You won't be scared when you come back tomorrow."

Han Bin gave Xiaoman a reproachful look: "I've been gone for so long, don't you miss me?"

Xiaoman raised an eyebrow: "No."

"You? Hmph! You just wait."

Xiaoman smiled.

As soon as Han Bin and Xiao Man entered the door, Nao Nao and Tengteng rushed over. Nao Nao hugged Xiao Man's left leg, and Tengteng hugged Xiao Man's right leg.

Nao Nao: "Mom, they say you encountered a wolf."

Tengteng: "Mom, I'll help you fight the wolves."

Nao Nao: "I'll help you fight the wolves too."

Xiaoman patted the children's heads: "Good boy/girl."

Han Bin squatted down on the ground and looked at the children, saying, "Nao Nao, Tengteng, I am your father."

Nao Nao looked at Han Bin: "You're not my dad. My dad can't talk."

Tengteng followed up, saying, "Yes, you're not my dad. My dad is this big." Tengteng gestured with his hand to form a small square.

Han Bin was bewildered by what the two children were saying: "Xiaoman, what are they talking about?"

"A photo." Han Bin wasn't home. Tang Huihui showed the children a photo of Han Bin and said, "Look, this is your dad." The children assumed the photo was of their father.

Xiaoman looked at Naonao and said, "Go and get your father."

“Okay.” Nao Nao was about to go back to get the photos when Tang Huihui came out of the house. “No need, I’ve already taken them out.” Tang Huihui had gone back to get the photos as soon as Han Bin came in.

Han Bin stood up from the ground and looked at Tang Huihui, saying, "Mother, I'm back."

"Hmm." Tang Huihui felt relieved to see that her son hadn't lost weight. "Here you go."

Han Bin took the photo.

When Nao Nao heard Han Bin call Tang Huihui's mother, she asked curiously, "Grandma, is he your son?"

Tang Huihui: "Mm."

Nao Nao looked at Han Bin with envy: "Grandma, your son is so big."

Tengteng: "Bigger than Erwa."

Han Bin squatted down and looked at the two little ones, saying, "You will grow up to be as big as me too."

Nao Nao's eyes lit up: "Really?"

Han Bin: "Really."

Nao Nao tugged at Xiao Man's sleeve: "Mom, I like Grandma's son."

Tengteng: "I like it too."

Xiaoman smiled and said, "He is your father."

Tengteng pointed to the photo in Han Bin's hand: "Grandma said that's my dad."

Xiaoman took the photo from Han Bin's hand: "Look, doesn't Grandma's son look exactly like your father?"

Nao Nao and Tengteng looked at the photos and then at Han Bin.

Nao Nao scratched his head: "Mom, do I have two dads?"

Tengteng pointed at Han Bin: "Mom, is he really my dad?"

Xiaoman pointed at Han Bin and said to the children, "You only have one father, and he is your father."

Nao Nao pointed to the photo in Xiao Man's hand and asked, "Then what is this?"

Xiaoman looked at Han Bin: "Paper and pen."

After Han Bin brought over the paper and pen, Xiaoman drew two chubby babies on the paper. "Naonao, Tengteng, look, who are these?" Xiaoman's drawing skills were quite good; although they didn't look as much like the photos, it was still recognizable.

The two little ones looked at the painting and then at each other, then looked at the painting and then at each other again.

Nao Nao: "Mom, why do they look just like us?"

Tengteng: "Mom, are they your children too?"

Xiaoman added another person to the paper: "Look, who is this?"

The children looked at the painting and then at Tang Huihui.

Nao Nao thought for a moment, pointed to the people in the painting, and asked, "Is this Grandma, me, and Tengteng?"

Xiaoman: "Mmm."

Nao Nao looked at Han Bin and then at Han Bin's photo: "Mom, I understand."

Tengteng: "Mom, I understand now."

Han Bin picked up the two little ones from the ground: "Son, call me Dad."

The two little ones looked at Xiaoman, and Xiaoman nodded. The two little ones immediately hugged Han Bin's neck: "Daddy!" "Daddy!"

Han Bin was overjoyed. "Sigh."

Nao Nao: "Dad, I'm no longer craving Erwa's dad."

Tengteng: "I'm not craving it anymore."

Han Bin: "Why are you all drooling over Erwa's father?"

Nao Nao: "His dad can talk."

Tengteng: "His dad will hold him."

On one side, Xiaoman's father and son were happily reunited. On the other side, as soon as Zhou Lihua entered the door, Battalion Commander Kong's face darkened. "Why are you so dirty?"

"We...we've encountered a pack of wolves."

Battalion Commander Kong casually remarked, "Why didn't the wolf eat you?"

"you……"

Battalion Commander Kong glared at Zhou Lihua: "What do you mean? Let me tell you, don't come in if you don't clean it properly."

Zhou Lihua's eyes were a little hot: "I'll go inside and get some clothes."

Battalion Commander Kong didn't want Zhou Lihua to come into the house: "You wait here."

Zhou Lihua lowered her head.

A moment later, something appeared on Zhou Lihua's head. When Zhou Lihua took it off, she saw that it was her own clothes.

Commander Kong's voice came from inside the house: "Hurry up and clean up and cook."

Tears welled in Zhou Lihua's eyes and fell to the ground. Commander Han had abandoned everything upon hearing the news, yet she couldn't even get into her own house. The more Zhou Lihua thought about it, the more distressed she became. She walked to the door, looked at Battalion Commander Kong, and said, "Battalion Commander Kong, let's get a divorce."
