Chapter 25 Look at your silly face

Xiao Hei's eyes darted around.

Grandma Wang brandished the knife in her hand: "Speak quickly."

Xiao Hei felt that given its owner's personality, it was impossible for him to talk about the past with others.

Grandma Wang: "Tell me quickly, did you know each other before? If you dare to lie to me, I'll skin you alive."

Xiao Hei shook his head decisively.

Grandma Wang placed the knife against Xiao Hei's neck: "Really?"

Xiao Hei first shrank its neck, then nodded with a look of terror on its face.

Grandma Wang saw how frightened it was and moved the knife away. She thought to herself: "A beast is a beast; it becomes docile when it's scared."

Little Black glanced at Grandma Wang out of the corner of his eye. He thought, "You think you can scare me with a kitchen knife? What are you thinking? Even though I'm a horse, I've watched plenty of performances in my past life following the prince. The more you watch, the better you'll get."

Grandma Wang: "Do you know who she was in her past life?"

Xiao Hei glanced timidly at the knife in Grandma Wang's hand.

"Speak. If you tell the truth, I won't kill you."

Xiao Hei quickly shook his head.

Can she understand what you're saying?

Xiao Hei shook his head.

"Then how does she communicate with you?"

Little Black pointed at Grandma Wang with its hoof and then at itself.

"Like the two of us?"

Xiao Hei nodded.

"I thought she was so amazing? Turns out she's just like me."

Little Black thought to itself: You're not even as good as one of my master's fingers. How shameful to be fooled by a horse!

Grandma Wang looked at Xiao Hei carefully: "She spends so much money raising you, what's so special about you? You run fast?"

"I can tell you the truth," Xiao Hei nodded.

"Are you strong?"

Xiao Hei nodded.

Grandma Wang circled around Xiao Hei a few times: "You're so small and weak now, how did she know you were strong and could run fast?"

Little Black secretly rolled its eyes. See? Even though it couldn't see its owner, it could sense them.

Do you know how she found out about you?

Xiao Hei shook his head.

Over here, Xiao Hei and Grandma Wang are engaged in a battle of wits.

Over there, Xiaoman's mother was so shocked her eyes almost popped out. She had never known that hunting could be so easy. Spot the prey, throw a stone, and the prey is yours.

Xiaoman's father nudged Xiaoman's mother: "Don't be silly, come with me to carry the pig."

Xiaoman's mother couldn't believe it: "The wild boar is dead?"

"Dead."

"Dead?!"

"Um."

"This...this is way too easy!"

"I couldn't believe it when I first saw it."

Xiaoman's mother looked at her daughter, then at the wild boar on the ground. Xiaoman's father said, "Are you relieved now?"

Xiaoman's mother didn't say anything. Xiaoman's father tugged at her: "Come on, let's go carry the pig."

After killing two pigs and three chickens, Xiaoman stopped. After descending the mountain, Xiaoman gave the chickens to her mother: "Mom, take these three pheasants back with you. Give one to Grandma, and we'll keep the other two for ourselves. Dad and I will go sell these two pigs."

Xiaoman's mother was still confused: "Huh?"

Xiaoman's father repeated Xiaoman's words again.

"Are you two sure you can manage?"

Xiaoman's father pulled out the cart he had prepared beforehand: "Alright. You can go back now."

"Then I'll go back."

"Okay. You two be careful."

"knew."

As soon as Xiaoman's mother got home, she saw Grandma Wang sitting next to Xiaohei with a kitchen knife in her hand: "Mom, what are you doing... are you afraid it will run away or that someone will steal it?"

Grandma Wang stood up from the stool: "You're back, then I'll go back."

"Okay." Xiaoman's mother picked out the fattest chicken and gave it to Grandma Wang.

After Grandma Wang left with the chicken, Xiaoman's mother looked at Xiaohei with disdain and pouted, "With your looks, who would steal it? You barely get a few bites of meat."

Xiao Hei glanced at Xiao Man's mother, thinking to himself, "That old lady from before was much more fun."

Officer Li was on his way home from work for dinner. As he neared his house, he noticed a father and daughter ahead of him; the father was pushing a cart, and the daughter was walking beside him. He thought the daughter's back looked familiar, so he quickened his pace and caught up with her. "Comrade Wang Xiaoman, hello."

"Hello."

Officer Li looked at the wild boar on the cart: "Are you going to sell this pig?"

"Um."

"I'll take you there. Uncle Wang, let me push the cart, you take a rest."

Xiaoman's dad quickly refused, "No need, no need, I'm not tired." How could he let a police officer push him? Besides, Xiaoman pushes him when no one's around, so he really isn't tired.

"I'll help you with the promotion."

"No need, no need."

After a brief exchange, Officer Li finally won.

Xiaoman looked at Officer Li: "Is something the matter?"

"No. By the way, didn't you say you were coming to learn to drive from me? Why didn't you come?"

"Something came up. I'll study in a few days."

"That works too. By the way, I have a friend who works at a restaurant. They also buy wild game, and the prices are higher than elsewhere. I'll take you there."

Xiaoman's dad: "Thank you, thank you. You've gone to so much trouble."

Xiaoman doesn't matter.

After they left, two middle-aged women came out of a shop on the street.

"Gui Xiang, were those father and daughter just now your relatives?"

Li Guixiang shook her head.

"Why was your nephew so enthusiastic? He even helped them push their cart. Could he have taken a liking to their daughter?"

"What are you talking about? My nephew is a policeman."

"What's wrong with police officers? Can't police officers like girls from the countryside? Let me tell you..."

Li Guixiang glared at her colleague: "What are you talking about? I'm in a hurry to get home and cook. I don't have time to listen to your nonsense. I'm leaving, you should go home too."

After parting ways with her colleagues, Li Guixiang followed the direction Xiaoman and the others had gone. When she found them, the pig had already been sold. The three of them were eating.

After lunch, Officer Li asked Xiaoman if she was free in the afternoon. He said if she wasn't, she could come to the police station to see him, and he would teach her how to drive.

Xiaoman figured the family's milk powder was probably finished, so she said she had something to do.

After the three parted ways, Xiaoman and her father went shopping. Officer Li wanted to go home for a nap. He had only taken a few steps when his aunt stopped him.

"Auntie, what are you doing here?"

Who is that girl?

"You don't recognize me, Auntie. Is there something you need?"

Li Guixiang looked at her nephew: "You like her?"

"Auntie, why do you think that?" Officer Li was quite surprised.

"Why would I think that way? I insisted on helping people push their carts, selling their things, and even teaching them how to drive. What else could it be but liking them?"

Officer Li was a bit stumped. His aunt was the most formidable in his family: "No, Auntie, I was only being friendly because they did us a huge favor."

Li Guixiang didn't believe it: "What kind of help can a girl like her do for you? And a lot of help at that."

"Really. She really did us a huge favor. Let me tell you, that girl is amazing..." Officer Li felt that he couldn't talk about Wang Xiaoman's teaching the officers who were visiting home and her helping them catch enemy spies. So he told them about how Xiaoman had dealt with Liu Cheng and Han Li.

Li Guixiang became more and more excited as she listened. She kept offering her opinions: "Yes, that's how it should be." "How shameless! She broke off the engagement and won't even pay back the money."... Finally, she concluded: "This girl is too good."

Officer Li sensed something was wrong: "Auntie, I like gentle women."

Li Guixiang rolled her eyes at her nephew: "Who cares about you?"

Officer Li stared wide-eyed in surprise: "Auntie, you...you don't mean to introduce her to your cousin, do you?"

"What? No way? Look at you, you silly thing. Your cousin is just missing a wife like that."
