Chapter Seventy-Two: The Story
In a secret base somewhere.
Gu Tingye frowned as the doctor changed his dressing, and looking at his wife with reddened eyes, he patted her hand reassuringly.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. My wound will heal soon."
Xie Jingyao's eyes were filled with tears, and her voice was choked with sobs.
"I'm not worried about you, I'm worried about our little girl..."
When his only daughter was mentioned, Gu Tingye fell silent.
The situation was too urgent. He and his wife almost lost their lives, and he was injured. For their safety, they were secretly sent away overnight, without even a chance to go home and see their daughter one last time.
"It's alright. Didn't Xiao Xie send back a message? Nannan is doing well. She went to the countryside and her health has improved a lot. Those people's reach shouldn't extend that far yet."
Xie Jingyao shook her head, tears falling like beads from a broken string.
“How could she possibly be better off? She’s never lifted a finger since she was little, she can’t even tell the difference between grass and wheat seedlings. How could she possibly do well after going to the countryside? She’s so gentle and weak, what kind of place is the countryside? What if she suffers? It’s all your fault! Why did you have to get involved in this mess in the first place! You could have just secretly given the prescription to the government, why did you have to research it yourself? Now you’re satisfied, but what about my daughter? She was only eleven years old when she was left alone at home, and now she’s been forced to go to the countryside…”
Thinking of her obedient daughter, Xie Jingyao felt heartbroken. There was no adult to support the family, and the Gu family was surrounded by wolves. How could her little child survive?
Gu Tingye let his wife scold him without arguing back. As a father, he was a failure, which was why his precious daughter had suffered so much. But as a talent secretly trained by the state, how could he betray that sincerity?
"Don't worry! Xiao Xie is on a mission there right now and will take care of her for us. Our daughter is gentle, but Xiao Xie is steady and reliable. What else do you have to worry about?"
……………………I am the universal dividing line
"You did this on purpose?"
Spring returns to the earth, and all things revive.
The spring planting season has begun in Malutun, with the fields bustling with activity as villagers work diligently and enthusiastically.
Gu Zuozuo, who was assigned a plot of land at the foot of the mountain, looked at the girl standing in front of her with a faint smile, her face full of question marks. She wondered why this so-called girlfriend of Kan Lei had deliberately attracted her here.
"You're Gu Zuozuo?"
"I am."
Do you know Xie Jinyu?
"I don't know him."
The girl paused for a moment, seemingly surprised by her answer, then burst out laughing, a deep dimple appearing on her cheek.
"You were the one who awakened your wood-type ability in the mountains on September 12th, weren't you?"
Gu Zuozuo showed no reaction, only looking at her with the eyes of someone looking at an idiot, as if silently asking her if she was mentally challenged.
"You know what? Your lack of reaction is the biggest flaw. When others hear me talk about superpowered individuals, they all look blank, but you are indeed a bit too calm."
Gu Zuozuo still didn't react, just leaning on the hoe, lazily watching her. When she heard her analysis, she just raised her eyebrows with a half-smile.
Whoosh!
Gu Zuozuo twitched her fingertips slightly, and an invisible barrier blocked the water arrows that the girl was attacking.
"Huh? This isn't a superpower?"
Gu Zuozuo suddenly flashed an extremely bright and radiant smile, which startled the girl.
"You know what? I hate it when people lay a hand on me!"
The inner strength of the ninth level began to circulate. With a flick of his finger, an invisible force sent the girl flying. Just as she was about to crash into a tree, a slender, jade-like hand gripped her neck, pinning her against the tree and preventing her from breaking free.
